Early Pregnancy Tests - In Stream
When you are Pregnant
When a woman becomes pregnant, her body produces a hormone called
hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin). The secretion of this hormone by the
developing placenta begins soon after conception and increases rapidly
throughout the first trimester.
The bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test is a rapid, qualitative test for the
determination of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine.
The bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test is over 99% accurate when tested as
early as the first day of missed period. The Pregnancy Hormone starts to
be produced by your body about 7 days after conception (7-10 days before
the first day of missed period). The bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test is highly
sensitive and can be used before you expect your period. If you test early
and get a "-" (not pregnant) result, there is still a chance that you might be
pregnant and we recommend you retest again in 2-3 days. Levels of the
Pregnancy hormone vary between individuals and testing from the first
day of missed period is recommended for maximum accuracy.
How the body talk™ Early Pregnancy Test Works for you
The bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test contains everything you need to find
out whether or not you are pregnant.
Before you Begin
1. Carefully read the entire instructions before you begin the test.
Do not open the foil pouch until you are ready to perform the test.
2. Your test can be performed anytime of the day. You do not need to use the
first morning urine although it is highly recommended, especially if you
are testing before the first day of your missed period. If you are pregnant,
the first morning urine generally contains the highest concentration of
hCG. hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a hormone produced by the
body after a woman becomes pregnant. By using the bodytalk® In Stream
pregnancy test, you are assured that the test will detect the presence of
hCG hormone, and yield the most accurate results.
3. Have a watch, clock or timer available.
4. If you have any questions about the instructions or your test results,
please refer to the www.mybodytalk.com.au website or call our
Consumer Information line on 03 8892 4803 (during business hours).

8. Read the results after 5 minutes. Do not read the results after 10 minutes as
it may change or become unreliable.
ALTERNATIVE TEST METHOD: You can collect the urine sample in a dry and
clean container and test it within 24 hours. Immerse the exposed wick of the
test stick into the cup with urine for at least 10 seconds (as shown in figure 7).
Important: Do not allow the urine level to go above the arrow on the test stick.
Replace the protective cap over the wet absorbent end and follow points 6,7
and 8 above.
Questions you may have about bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test
When a woman becomes pregnant, her body produces a hormone called
human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). The bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test
detects the presence of this hormone in Human urine. This particular hormone
is produced in increasing amounts during the first trimester of pregnancy.
The bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test is a pregnancy test intended for home use.

Result is Positive (Pregnant)
If two lines appear, one at letter C (Control), and one at letter T (Test),
the test is POSITIVE - you are likely to be pregnant and should consult
your doctor.
Result is Negative (Not Pregnant)
If one line appears at letter C (Control), and no line appears at letter
T (Test), the test is NEGATIVE - you are not likely to be pregnant. If you are
not sure of the result you may wish to retest within the first week of a missed
period. If you still have a negative result and your period does not begin you
should consult your doctor.
Result is Invalid
If no lines appear at letters C (Control) and T (Test), you have not performed
the test correctly (for example, you may not have soaked the absorbent pad
sufficiently). Repeat the test, following the instructions carefully.

Can I still use the test if I have collected a urine sample in a
collection cup?
Yes, as long as the urine sample is collected in a dry and clean container
and tested within 24 hours. Immerse tip of the test stick into the urine with
the arrow pointing down, for at least 10 seconds. Do not submerge the test
stick too deep into the urine cup. Important: At all times the urine level must
be below the arrow mark. Place the test stick on a flat surface and wait for 5
minutes before you read the results.
What if I am not sure the test result is correct?
If it is hard to tell whether or not there is a line in the result area (Test),
repeat the test after 2 to 3 days using a new bodytalk® Early Pregnancy Test.
Will drinking alcohol or using an oral contraception affect my
test results?
Drinking alcohol will not affect your test results. Oral contraceptive, pain
killers, antibiotics or hormone therapies should not affect the test results.
Only medicines which contain hCG (hCG which are given by injection include:
A.P.L., Pregnyl and Profasi) or hMG (human Menopausal Gonadotropin) can
produce a false result.
Will the amount of liquid I drink affect the result?
Excessive fluid intake could dilute your urine, causing the amount of hCG
present not to be detected properly. It is therefore not advisable to change
your normal fluid consumption.
What if the result is negative, but I am still not sure?
If your test shows a negative result (Not Pregnant), no pregnancy hormone
(hCG) was detected in your urine. You are not likely to be pregnant or you may
have miscalculated your menstrual cycle. If you are not sure of the result, you
may want to re-test within the first week of a missed cycle. If you still have
a negative result and your period does not begin. You should consult your
doctor.

What if the test is positive?
Please keep in mind that the test is not intended to replace your doctor’s
diagnosis. A Positive (Pregnant) test result shows that hCG has been
detected and you are very likely to be pregnant. However, the result should
be confirmed by your doctor.
What if the line in the result area is darker or lighter than that
of the line in the control area?
The presence of a colored line in the result area (Test) indicates a positive
result and you are very likely to be pregnant. The color intensity of the two
lines does not have to match one another to give an accurate result.
How long will my result remain before it fades away or changes?
A positive result is likely to remain unchanged. On the other hand, with a
negative result, a very faint line may appear in the test window after 10
minutes. This color deposit, showing after 10 minutes, is not a positive result.
Remember: do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.
