U.S. military faces a mental health crisis of historic proportions. Thank You for Your Service takes aim at our superficial understanding of war trauma and the failed policies that result. Director Tom Donahue (Casting By) interweaves the stories of four Iraq War veterans with candid interviews of top military and civilian leaders. Observing the systemic neglect, the film argues for significant internal change and offers a roadmap of hope. CHILDREN’S SHORTS BLOCK SATURDAY, APRIL 2 at 10AM, 45 Min. Aria, a bovine diva, demands to be respected for more than just her dairy products in ARIA FOR A COW. In MY STUFFED GRANNY little Sofía loves her grumpy granny: even though she is always hungry and eats what little food they can buy. Her pension is the only thing keeping her and her father alive. To what extremes will they go to once granny is no more? TREEPLES follows the adventures of everyday girls joining forces with a group of lively forest creatures to rid the woods of monsters. SHORTS BLOCK 1 SATURDAY, APRIL 2 at 12PM, 100 Min. In OH LUCY! Setsuko, a 55-year-old single ‘office lady’ in Tokyo, is given a blonde wig and a new identity, “Lucy,” by her young unconventional English instructor. “Lucy” awakens desires Setsuko never knew she had. When the instructor suddenly disappears, Setsuko must come to terms with what remains – herself. Somewhere on the outskirts of Los Angeles, Rosemarie and Ray pass time in an apartment packed and cluttered with the detritus of a half century of marriage. With their meager social security checks gone straight to covering rent every month and nothing in savings, Ray collects cans to get a little cash together so he can grant Rosemarie her one and only 90th birthday wish: a trip to In N Out for hamburgers in MY GAL, ROSEMARIE. The film IN THE CLOUDS explores the complicated, and often comedic, space between how we think romance should work and how it actually does. Set all around Buenos Aires during one momentous week in the lives of Mariela, an Argentinean illustrator, and Oliver, an American dog food executive working abroad, the film takes a look at conflicting cultural disagreements about intimacy and the way the oncesimple idea of a marriage proposal has taken on an increasingly public, and sometimes ridiculous, weight in this golden age of YouTube. For the past 78 years Henry Bendinelli has lived a life of health and happiness through skiing - and at 90 years of age, he shows no signs of slowing down in 70-SOME-YEARS. James Colburn was born with Fragile X Syndrome. At 26, he is a child at heart who finds joy in the smallest things and uses his gift of comedic timing to inspire those around him. James is living proof there is love and laughter in the face of autism in COACHING COLBURN. HELP US FIND SUNIL TRIPATHI Director: Neal Broffman (USA) SATURDAY, APRIL 2 at 3PM, 90 Min. A fragile and depressed university student disappears from his apartment in the middle of a cold winter’s night. Four weeks later his name and photo explode across social media and into the mainstream media as ‘suspect 2’ in the Boston Marathon bombings. The search for truth by citizen journalists, mainstream journalists and members of social media Web sites derails with tragic consequences as collective fear and suspicion rule the day and rain down upon a vulnerable family. Exclusive access and never released footage reveal the enduring love of a family in crisis. A DOG NAMED GUCCI Director: Gorman Bechard (USA) *Filmmaker in Attendance* SATURDAY, APRIL 2 at 7PM, 90 Min. A DOG NAMED GUCCI is an inspiring documentary about a 10-week old puppy who was doused with lighter fluid and set on fire. Hearing the puppy’s cries, college professor Doug James ran to help. After chasing away the abusers, and at the request of Gucci’s young runaway owner, Doug took the puppy in as his own. Thus began a 16-year odyssey of love, devotion, and perseverance. Together with legislators, Doug and Gucci worked to create what became known as the “Gucci Bill,” changing Alabama law, and making domestic animal abuse a felony.
