These flexible and timeless colours
work with stone, tile and wood
surfaces and can be accessorized for
different themes. A choice of tile sizes
permits regular, ‘brick-bond’ or sizezoned fixing, with the 200mm (8”)
format being one of the most popular.
A wide range of accessories includes
a choice of chair rails, skirting and
liners. These can also be used as
casing, base, wallpaper border or
panel moulding, to create a shelf
on a partially tiled wall, or as a
transition between different tile sizes.
Providing a finishing touch for
corners and edges or additional
decorative features, the accessories
are a modular system of pieces
mirroring those available in wood,
but with all the benefits of ceramic
for use in ‘wet’ areas.

combine colour families to zone
different areas, whilst the distinctive
moulded dimensional pieces provide
texture and depth.
Designed to create a different look
for feature walls, the possibilities are
limitless, with small squares for the
kitchen backsplash and bathroom
shower, and borders to accentuate
the chair rails or highlight the
transition between different
areas of the room.
Both the Traditional and Original
Colour ranges also offer a choice of
colours and a wealth of accessories to

SPECIALIST FIXING
The Minton Hollins ‘Studio Collection’ is a range of ceramic glazed wall tiles that have been designed to replicate the appearance
of an authentic handmade tile. Given this, the variation in shade and crazing are deliberate factors which contribute to the overall
appearance of the finished product and could vary from batch to batch. Due to this fact these tiles are susceptible to crazing prior
to, during and/or after installation and can not be covered by the regular crazing/staining standards. H & R Johnson can not accept
responsibility for any complaints associated with staining/crazing.
• For the best results we advise that they are installed by a professional fixer.
• In any instance we suggest the use of pre-grouting sealer prior to grouting and an impregnating sealer once the tiles have been fixed.
• It is recommended that all cuts are carried out using a ‘wet’ diamond-wheel cutter (as the use of rail-cutter could result in ‘chattered’ edges).
This particular glaze system can be vulnerable to prolonged contact with certain proprietary commodities of an acidic nature,
examples of which include particular brands of hair products, cleaning agents, red wine, beetroot juice, etc; of which overnight contact
could lead to permanent discolouration.
N.B. Please note that tiles within this range must be sealed with an appropriate sealer i.e. ‘Aqua Mix Sealers Choice 15 – Gold’ or
equivalent product.
When fixing tiles please remember . . .
Some wall glazes, particularly the more specialised effects used to
create surface features and strong colours, are subject to crazing.
This aspect is an inherent feature of the glazes and may occur
after fixing but will not affect the performance of the tiles.
The tiles should be spaced by the use of readily available spacer
pegs. It is recommended that the Minton Hollins Finishing Strip
or proprietary tile edging strips are used at external corners as the
tiles do not have fully glazed edges.
Highly Decorative Tiles
Care should be taken during installation and grouting to avoid
damage. Abrasive cleansers and strong chemicals which may
harm the decoration should not be used.
Sizes
All sizes quoted throughout this publication are Metric Nominal
Sizes. Approximate Imperial Sizes are given where appropriate.
The production processes used in the manufacture of ceramic
tiles result in slight variation in overall size. The actual sizes are
detailed on the carton label under ‘Work Size’ (W).
Quality Standards
H&R Johnson Class BIII tile products are manufactured to the
highest International standards: British/European Standards BS
EN 14411.
American Standard ANSI A137.1 - Section 6 Glazed Tiles.
The company’s systems and procedures have been recognised
through its attainment of EN ISO 9002.

Production lead times may vary for these items. Contact your
supplier for details.
IMPORTANT
During the course of manufacture of all ceramic tiles some
variation in shade or pattern can occur. Before fixing wall tiles
several cartons should be opened and their contents mixed to
provide an attractive natural finish, an acceptable colour blend
and to observe the direction of the patterning.
H&R Johnson cannot accept any liability for wall or floor tiles
which have been fixed.
