Control of biological growth in circuits. Elimination of multi-product programs combining oxidizing biocides, non-oxidizing biocides and biodispersants. 3.5 Stability of the product in the system. 3.6 10 to 100 times lower volumes of biocide are necessary, depending on the dosing program. 3.7 The installation lasts longer. 3.8 Reduced need for blow-down, leading to water savings and cost reduction. 3.9 Reduced transportation costs and optimized carbon footprint. 3.10 Storage area reduced and made secure in comparison with chemical biocides. 3.11 Personal protective equipment reduced. Additional benefits 4.1 Carton packaging 100% recyclable. 4.2 Easy to handle cardboard packaging. 4.3 Installation: setting up a simple dosing cabinet. Better than chemical solutions. Why? 3.1 BIOMEBA is in accordance with Water Framework 3.7 Directive. The European Water Framework Directive imposes the reduction of discharge of certain dangerous substances into the environment. BIOMEBA meets this requirement and thus allows a reduction in environmental taxes. 3.2 Greater efficacy than current chemical 3.8 alternatives. 8 cumulated years of tests carried out in industrial environments so far have shown that BIOMEBA is effective both in the water phase and on biofilms. 3.3 Control of biological growth in circuits. Total flora is under control: it gets stabilised after the beginning of treatment with BIOMEBA and decreases 3.9 over time. Unlike with chemical biocides, there is no inhibition of microbial flora reading. The installation lasts longer. Unlike oxidizing chemical biocides, BIOMEBA does not cause corrosion in installations. Tests carried out on an industrial scale have proven the possibility of a considerable reduction in the consumption of anti-corrosion products. The reduction varies between 5 and 25%, depending on the installation. Reduced need for blow-down, leading to water savings and cost reduction. With BIOMEBA there is no mineralization of water, unlike with chlorine, bromine, etc. Therefore, it is possible to increase circuit concentration and to reduce water consumption. Reduced transportation costs and optimized carbon footprint. With BIOMEBA, the lower volumes of biocide necessary to treat water circuits considerably reduce the amounts of product to be transported, making it possible to reduce supply volumes and related costs. 3.4 Elimination of multi-product programs combining oxidizing biocides, non-oxidizing biocides and biodispersants. The efficacy of BIOMEBA's program has been proven by 3.10 Storage area reduced and made secure in comparison with chemical biocides. tests carried out over a period of 8 cumulated years on BIOMEBA reduces the size of the required storage area industrial installations, where this single-product program by up to 100%. Safe spaces or retention trays are no has replaced the existing multi-product programs. The longer necessary. results have shown the effectiveness of BIOMEBA. 3.5 3.11 Personal protective equipment reduced. Stability of the product in the system. Toxicity and environmental impact studies note the BIOMEBA is stable in the system. Its residual activity absence of risks for personnel and the environment. has been demonstrated at the level of biofilms that are the main source of contamination. 3.6 10 to 100 times lower volumes of biocide are necessary, depending on the dosing program. The stability of BIOMEBA over a broad pH range makes it possible to reduce biocide consumption by 10- to 100-fold compared to the volume of oxidizing chemical biocides. Additional benefits 4.1 4.2 Carton packaging 100% recyclable. Unlike with chemical packaging, BIOMEBA's container does not require specific storage or recycling conditions, since it is a biological product. BIOMEBA thus eliminates additional costs related to the 4.3 treatment of chemical biocide containers. Easy to handle cardboard packaging. Thanks to its 10- and 20-liter packaging, the biocide is simple to handle. Installation: setting up a simple dosing cabinet. The setting up of AMOEBA program requires only that a cabinet with a dosing pump be installed by the distributor. Technical Document How does it work? 1.1 1.2 1.3 Amoeba’s product, BIOMEBA, is a non-genetically modified amoeba. BIOMEBA is Willaertia magna C2c Maky, an amoeba in natural state that was isolated from a thermal centre. Numerous scientific publications have shown that this amoeba is ubiquitous in water and found at depths of up to 50 cm in the soil. A natural predator of Legionella, pathogenic bacteria and free-living amoebas. 8 cumulated years of application in industrial environments have shown the product to be effective against multiple species of Legionella, free-living amoebas and a large number of pathogenic bacteria commonly fozzund in air-cooled circuits, in particular Pseudomonas, Listeria, Klebsiella, etc. Effective in water phase and on biofilms. The product is active on biofilms and in the water phase. The amoeba contained in BIOMEBA is a natural predator which, unlike chemical biocides, is also effective on bacteria contained in biofilm, thus minimising the risk of proliferation of pathogenic bacteria at the source. 2 3 4 1.4 Ensures that Legionella pneumophila level is low, both in water phase and in biofilms. The analysis can be carried out either by culture or by qPCR, the method of quantifying Legionella pneumophila DNA found in water. These measurements are precise and specific. 1.5 Operating conditions: Temperatures between 12° and 52°C; pH from 5 to 10. The biological biocide BIOMEBA is not pH-dependent. It works perfectly within the pH range of 5 to 10, which gives it a broader action spectrum than any chemical biocide. 1.6 Compatible with commonly-used anti-scaling and anti-corrosion products. The tests carried out to date have shown that BIOMEBA is compatible with commonly-used anti-scaling and anti-corrosion products. Therefore, all systems, regardless of the treatment currently applied, can benefit from treatment with BIOMEBA biocide. 1.7 Product without hazard warning labels. To date, no risk for humans or the environment has been identified by independent studies carried out in compliance with OECD2 and EPA3 (OCSPP4) requirements. These tests examined the toxicology, eco-toxicology and pathogenicity of the product. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Environmental Protection Agency Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention Simple to implement 2. 1 Ready-to-use dosing cabinet for product injection. It is easy to install; the distributor replaces the old chemical biocide dosing system by the BIOMEBA Box. The vessel containing the biological biocide is connected to the dosing pump by a quick-connect system, reducing handling time. 2.2 2.3 Multiple injection strategies: continuous or shock dosage. The product is injected proportionately to the flow of make-up water. Different treatment strategies can be adopted depending on the microbiological load in the system or other technical constraints. Continuous dosing is added through the make-up water; shock dosing is based on the total volume of the system. Injected by a dosing pump. No specific dosing equipment is required to start using BIOMEBA. The biocide is injected into the circuit by a dosing pump that is connected to the 10- or 20-liter packaging. Use is simple and users do not need training.
