“BOVINE BATHTIME” Cow In A Tub
Resource Guide (with Summary and Tami‟s Recipe!)
1. WASHTUB (CAKE)
Start with a 6” x 3” cake and carve down slightly
Crumbcoat cake and put back into refrigerator
3
Knead chocolate fondant, then “marble” white and
chocolate fondant
Use wood grain impression mat or rolling pin to get
wood grain effect on fondant
4
Using a pizza cutter and a ruler, cut your fondant
“planks” and set them aside to dry overnight
Get cake from freezer, add 2nd crumb coat
Smooth your buttercream on cake & put back into
refrigerator
5
Roll out some chocolate fondant 1/8 inch thick
Cover chilled cake with fondant & cut off excess
Put back into refrigerator
6
2. COW (CAKE)
Start with “mini doll pan” cake (or cupcake) covered
with white fondant
Make large “sausage” for cow head. Add slight curve to
cow head and put on small cake with spaghetti (or
linguini!)
7
Use fondant smoother to make cow arms
Add small bit of pink fondant to make flat, heart-shaped,
cow nose
8
Make nostrils and smile
Then, make the ears and attach to cow head
9
Make cow eyes, eyebrows, and eyelashes, and attach
to cow face
Add black fondant cow “spots,” horns, and hooves
10
Add pink petal dust to cow face and ears
Put chocolate-covered cake onto green fondantcovered cake base
11
Put a straw at the center of the covered cake and place
the cow on top.
Use chocolate icing to attach the planks and start in the
center.
12
Use clay gun to make flat stripe ribbon.
Place flat ribbon around the planks.
13
3. GELATIN BUBBLES
Mix luster dust into gelatin recipe
Get slightly inflated small water balloon, twist the ends
together, and use duct-tape to create a “bubble” handle
14
Melt gelatin mixture and let it cool to “skin temperature”
Put a thin coat of vegetable shortening all over balloon
bubble, then roll it in gelatin mixture
15
Use paint brush to wipe away the excess gelatin
Then add a second and third coat of gelatin, letting
each layer firm up on the balloon for about a minute
16
Then, deflate and remove the balloon - leaving the
gelatin bubble “shell” to put on the cake
Spray inside of the bubble with cooking spray
(shortening).
17
Use a small brush to shine up the inside.
Then, spray the outside of the bubble with alcohol.
18
Roll the bubble in rainbow glitter.
Finally, along with some well-placed white buttercream,
add the bubbles to the cake.
