Handmade in Great Britain
New Lilliput Lane Cottages…Our Highlights!
Handmade and hand-painted in Great Britain,
Lilliput Lane continues to bring you the very best that
our architectural heritage has to offer. As a taster of what
is available in this catalogue, here, we’ve selected just
four of the new pieces from the June 2015 introductions,
each offering different gift and collecting solutions:
Gateway to York — inspired by York’s famous Micklegate
Bar — is the perfect cultural celebration, given this year’s Richard III celebrations — the last Yorkist king!
For those north of the border, Mushroom Cottage is as cute as a button…mushroom! It’s inspired by a
‘play’ cottage in the grounds of Mellerstain House Estate — one of Scotland’s finest stately homes.
Railway and film enthusiasts will love Passing Through and Snowed in at Oakworth, limited editions
inspired by Oakworth Railway Station, near Keighley in West Yorkshire — on the branch line made
famous by its appearance in the 1970 film The Railway Children.
Finally, as the name suggests, our festive Christmas Hamper is a well-known deli from Helmsley,
West Yorkshire — the perfect Christmas present, as are any of our latest snowed cottages! These are our
highlights — now, be sure to flick through the following pages to find yours!
Limited Editions
Passing Through features the station
in summertime, whilst Snowed in
at Oakworth features the station in
winter, when heavy snow has stopped
the train’s journey.

L3765 FIRE BELLS
STAFFORDSHIRE, MIDLANDS
Height: 9.0cm Length: 7.0cm
This quaint two-storey,
red-brick building with lead

until 1984, when it was
replaced by a state-of-the-art
community fire station.
Featured in an episode
of George Clarke’s
Amazing Spaces

SHROPSHIRE, MIDLANDS
Height: 7.0cm Length: 6.0cm
With its small bell tower and

who had it dismantled, restored
and rebuilt as a holiday home.

L3768 SWEET DREAMS (BOY)
WORCESTERSHIRE, MIDLANDS
Height: 6.0cm Length: 6.0cm
A pretty cottage with a pram in the garden. We are
making two versions of this delightful cottage, one

the other has a pink blanket for a baby girl!
L3768A SWEET DREAMS (GIRL)
WORCESTERSHIRE, MIDLANDS
Height: 6.0cm Length: 6.0cm
L3772 LITERARY LEANINGS
KENT, SOUTH EAST
Height: 9.0cm Length: 7.0cm
Our charming bookshop has been inspired
by an historic seventeenth-century

its famous lean — hence our name! — in
the late 1980s, following the collapse of an
internal chimney during alterations.
L3770 COTSWOLD CHARM
GLOUCESTERSHIRE, SOUTH WEST
Height: 6.5cm Length: 9.0cm
Two shops in the popular tourist village
of Bourton-on-the-Water have inspired
our Cotswold scene. Dutton’s Gift Shop
has been stocking Lilliput Lane since we
started making our cottages, way back in
1982, and next door, Highbridge Jewellers’
flower display is much photographed.
Our thanks to Carol Teece for
her assistance.

One of the nation’s most iconic
landmarks, revered by historians,
mystics and Pagans alike over
the centuries.
L3761 GLASTONBURY TOR
GLOUCESTERSHIRE, SOUTH WEST
Height: 8.0cm Length: 5.0cm
Glastonbury Tor and the ruins of St Michael’s
Chapel have to be one of the nation’s most iconic
landmarks, second only to Stonehenge, and have
been revered by historians, mystics and Pagans
alike over the centuries.
L3762 GATEWAY TO YORK
NORTH YORKSHIRE, NORTH EAST & YORKSHIRE
Height: 8.0cm Length: 8.0cm
Most visitors to York will visit its ancient,
castellated walls, with entrances, or gateways,
known as ‘Bars’. There are four Bars in York’s
Medieval walls, of which Micklegate — the
inspiration for our Gateway to York — is the
most famous.
L3766 CORFE CASTLE
DORSET, SOUTH WEST
Height: 8.0cm Length: 7.0cm
Destroyed during the Civil War, the majestic
ruin of the medieval castle, after which Corfe
Castle is named, is a dramatic reminder of the
village’s dark history. Thankfully, it is now
owned by the National Trust and protected
from any further misuse!
The Christmas Collection
L3748 CHRISTMAS FEAST
(ILLUMINATED)
HERTFORDSHIRE, MIDLANDS
Height: 10.0cm Length: 12.5cm
Inspired by The Old House
Museum, Hereford, on St Peter’s
Street, this is the last surviving relic
of what used to be a row of shops
called Butcher’s Row — hence our
sumptuous Dickensian display of
carcasses and fresh produce.
Illuminated. Create a magical effect
using two AA size batteries or a 3-volt
adaptor. This is not a toy or children’s
product. Intended for adults only.
L3758 CHRISTMAS TRINKETS
LANCASHIRE, NORTH WEST
Height: 7.0cm Length: 5.5cm
Our popular jeweller’s shop has
now been covered in festive
snow! Built in 1638, number
33 Market Place is the oldest shop
in Preston and the original small
timber-framed building sits nestled
between larger neighbours.
L3757 PERFECT PEACE
WILTSHIRE, SOUTH WEST
Height: 5.5cm Length: 5.5cm
Measuring a little over 13ft x 11ft, Bremilham Church is of
true ‘Lilliputian’ proportions. Arguably England’s smallest
church, it’s situated in a farmyard near Malmesbury and a
service is still held here once a year.
Perfect Piece comes in special gift box packaging, to prove that
best things do come in small packages!
L3759 TWICE AS NICE
SURREY, SOUTH EAST
Height: 7.0cm Length: 10.0cm
Twice as Nice was inspired by two
octagonal cottages linked by a roof
over the former driveway, which
probably served Clandon Park,
suggesting that these were once
lodge houses to the estate.

L3760 CHRISTMAS HAMPER
YORKSHIRE, NORTH EAST & YORKSHIRE
Height: 7.5cm Length: 10.0cm
Ah! This brings back happy memories
for our designers, who remember
photographing this Deli as part of a
research trip to photograph
Goathland and Whitby.
‘We stopped for a break
in Helmsley and had
ice cream from the deli!’
said Rebecca Hardy.

Our beautiful timber-framed coaching inn is in the market town of Sandbach

Inspired by the legendary Three Tuns Brewery on Salop Street, Bishop’s Castle,

Handmade in Great Britain
1. Each and every Lilliput Lane miniature is completely
hand crafted by our skilled artists in Langholm, in the
borders of Scotland.
2. The cottages are based on real buildings and many
collectors enjoy touring the country lanes in search of
the actual houses.
3. From photographs, the internet and sketches, up to forty
different processes then follow to produce a complex series
of moulds from the original sculpture. There is no room
for error, as the original wax sculpture is lost during the
the process!
4. Every tile, slate and flower is individually applied by hand
to build up the different textures and details.
5. Flexible silicone-rubber moulds are used to cast faithful
replicas of the wax original in a specially licensed material
called Amorphite™. Once this has set, the moulds can then
be carefully peeled away to reveal every last detail on the
cast model.
6. After being sealed and dried once again, the model passes
to one of our painters.
7. Up to thirty different colourways can be tried and
checked for authenticity before a master version is chosen
for each cottage.
8. Every skilled painter has to match each of the models they
paint to the master version, to ensure that each is consistent.
9. Finally, cottages are baized and labelled, before a final
quality check ensures that they leave Lilliput Lane in
perfect condition.
No seconds are ever kept; if they do not
pass our strict quality checks, then they
are destroyed.
