NAUGHTY IN N’AWLINS TH ND JULY 29 - AUGUST 2, 2015 THE SEXUAL FREEDOM ISSUE Getting Naughty & Changing the World Have you experienced a Couples Cruise yet? If not, just look at what you’ve been missing... The Largest Ship Takeovers in the World Wild Erotic Themed Dance Parties Clothing Optional Pool Parties 1,100 - 1,800 Sexy Couples It’s time to get Naughty in N’awlins & change the world This year’s program is a little different from past ones as we have a focus not only on fun and good times, but also on activism, helping expand sexual freedom and how you can help. Just by being here you are making a statement. By creating and carrying signs in our parade, you make an even bigger statement. By learning about and donating to causes and studies that can help keep our lifestyle from being banned, restricted and persecuted, you will actually help change the world. Table of Contents Convention Guidelines 2 Group Travel 6 Swinging in the News 8 Bob & Tess’ Recommendations 3 & 4 Bob & Tess’ Corner 7 And that is a good thing. No, a great thing! Den’s Corner So have fun at Naughty, hit up as many parties as you can, go to seminars and learn something new, but also take a couple of minutes to read this program (cover to cover). You might learn something about the struggles of clubs and promoters to exist in a time when we should be free to be who we are. Nashville: Ground Zero 10 A Case for Non-Monogamy 13 Change will come, but not without your help. You can make a difference by educating yourself about the current struggles and most importantly, donating to sexual freedom causes. Your actions represent our event and will go a long way toward our acceptance in this community. The city of New Orleans is very tolerant but we do not need to test their tolerance. We can have lots of fun this weekend without offending other tourists or anyone from the local community. Keep your parties private and behind closed doors. Please dress properly while on the street. Don’t walk around topless or in a thong. It is O.K. to flash for beads, but remember, Bourbon Street is still a public street. Please read and adhere to the following guidelines: 1: Respect. "No means No!" Anyone that doesn't understand this or is making unwanted advances will be politely asked to leave, without a refund. 2: No Public Nudity! Sexy: Yes!, Naked: No! This is a convention, not a clothing optional resort. Please cover up in all public places of the hotel including the hallways, elevators, lobby, etc... 3: No Drugs: This is simple- "Just Say No" Anyone breaking this rule will be banned forever, again- no refund. 4. Cameras are O.K.: Of course, this is only if the person shooting the picture has permission. We decided that since we are all adults, we should let everyone be able to take photos of each other as long as they respect everyone else’s privacy. If anyone is taking pictures of you without your permission, please let one of our staff members know and we will take care of the situation. 6. Leave the Hotel Staff Alone: I know there are some cute employees working at the Astor Crowne Plaza, but they are off limits & could get fired if they did anything. So flirt with the attendees, not the hotel staff. 5. Listen to Security & Police: If someone says you are acting or are dressed inappropriately, you probably are. Please respect the local law enforcement and our own staff. They are there to protect you and the city of New Orleans. 6. Intoxication: If you become intoxicated and disruptive, you may be asked to leave (without refund). Do not drink and drive. Please use a taxi or shuttle service if necessary. 7. VIP Passes are MANDATORY! You must have your All Access Pass on you at all times. If you forgot it in your room, you will be asked to go and get it. We have decided to give everyone a weekend of great events, activities and parties without having to wear a wristband. Please help us keep this event private by carrying your pass on you at all times. Anyone caught trying to trade passes will be banned from this and all future events. If you lose your pass, we will charge a $100 replacement fee. This fee is non-negotiable. 8: Have fun. It's a rule, and it's enforced! We do ask that you help with security. Everyone at the hotel property will have to have their VIP Pass. No one from outside of the convention will be allowed into the private parties or the hotel unless they register with us and get their VIP Pass. If you see someone that does not look like they belong... they probably don’t. Please let us know if you see someone that doesn’t belong so we can approach them. You will also see several uniformed security staffers and New Orleans Police Officers in the lobby of the hotel, please consult them if you have any questions. 2 Also, take care of your bartenders, shuttle bus drivers, bellman, maids, and anyone else that has helped to make your stay a pleasant one. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated and will really help the locals who are dealing with a decrease in tourism. Bob & Tess’ recommendations Each year, we recommend a few new places to visit and to eat. Since we are located on Bourbon Street we are going to suggest some really great options nearby our hotel. Tuesday Night “Early Bird” Experience If you are coming in early, check out the optional below and get a head start being “Naughty”. Richard Fiske’s: 301 Dauphine St. (Tuesday Night Dinner 6-10 pm) This restaurant used to be the Bombay Club (well, the owners ran the Bombay Club for years). This is one of our favorite places because they have great martinis (they have won many “Best Martini” contests in New Orleans), every night they have live music, their menu is very good (we love the calamari!) and they have great happy hour specials. Their menu has quality steak, fish and specialty items like Creole Scallops with Crawfish Beignets. Best Burger in the French Quarter Everyone knows New Orleans knows how to cook. They are famous for their seafood, oysters, Creole and Cajun cooking, but they also know how to make a mean burger. That’s right, New Orleans is one of the best cities in America when it comes to the American classic: The Hamburger. There are plenty of great places in New Orleans that are not on my top 10 list (Luke, Company Burger, Mondo, Truburger and one of my favorite’s: La Petite Grocery). These are all contenders for best New Orleans hamburger, but there are SOOOOOO many great places. We kept it to the French Quarter, where you can still round out a pretty awesome top 10 list that are all within walking distance of each other. For reservations, call (504) 586-0972. Arnaud’s: 813 Bienville Avenue St. (Tuesday Night Dinner 6-10 pm) Arnaud’s is one of New Orleans classic restaurants that has been family run and open since anyone can remember (and then some). Their Jazz Bistro is our favorite place to eat at Arnaud’s. They have a great band (Jerry Embree’s Gumbo Trio) which gives a great atmosphere to your traditional New Orleans food. The food here will be more of a traditional New Orleans fare with lots of different baked oyster options, turtle soup and gumbo, an extensive fish, chicken and beef options with local preparations that you will love. For reservations call (504) 523-5433. The Upper Quarter: 1000 Bienville Avenue St. This is our “hangout”. Like Cheers, this is a local’s bar “where everyone knows your name”. We hang out here a lot (O.K. so much that they have named drinks after us). Anyway, this is where we go to see all of the Saints’ away games (Bob goes to all of the home games) and any other excuse we can come up with to hang out with our neighbors and an occasional tourist. On Tuesday night, 9 - 11 pm we are hosting a Meet & Greet here. It might get a little crowded (it is a small dive bar) but it is worth a visit. If you stop by, we will have tours running all night to our main office (yes, we actually do have a real office). You will see where all the planning takes place and meet some of our staff. You’ll also get a peek into our everyday lives and learn a little more about Bob & Tess. We look forward to having you in our “home”. 10. Saints & Sinners We really liked their burger. We were actually surprised, as this place does not strike us as a culinary giant. It’s a basic burger but done right. Nice touch: They char their logo into their bun with a branding iron. 627 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70130 (504) 528-9307 9. Bayou Burger We had high hopes for this place and their burgers were good, we just expected great. After all, the place is strictly a burger place and we were impressed by the décor and the menu. There are a lot of options and you will not be disappointed, but when it comes to one of the best, we only had this place as #9 in the French Quarter. 503 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70130 (504) 529-4256 continued on page 4 3 continued from page 3 8. The Grill The Grill is an offshoot of the Camellia Grill uptown. It is a diner-style restaurant on Chartres, not far from Jackson Square. While not my favorite burger in town, we like the retro atmosphere and we prefer this diner-style to the Clover Grill any day. www.camelliagrill.net 540 Chartres St. New Orleans, LA 70130 (504) 522-1800 7. Yo Momma’s This used to be one of our favorite burger places in New Orleans and it is located in the heart of the French Quarter, but after a crazy weekend, the owners came in and fired everyone. That meant the cooks, bartenders, everyone. It is still pretty good, but not as good as it once was before that fateful day. The main draw is all of the crazy toppings and combinations. Tess loves the peanut butter burger. They serve it with a baked potato and that is just the way we like it. 727 St Peter St, New Orleans, LA 70116 (504) 522-1125 6. Jimani Jimani is a “locals place” (think Dive Bar) but their “Hangover Burger” is perfect after a night out on Bourbon St. The burger has a lot on it including a sausage patty & a fried egg. They put the entire kitchen sink on this burger & if you throw in the fried pickle basket, your hangover will soon be a distant memory. 141 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70130 (504) 524-0493 5. Jagerhaus This German restaurant has a great burger set on a pretzel bun. Besides the hamburger, they add a bratwurst & sauerkraut to the German Burger. It is a handful and certainly worth a try. Try their burger with a German beer and the score goes up. We’d have them higher, but the service is often slow. 833 Conti St, New Orleans, LA 70112 (504) 525-9200 4. Richard Fiske’s We love their burgers on an English muffin. An English muffin is very dense and holds up well to a juicy burger. They come with caramelized onions and you can add bacon (do it). You can order their “bar fries” which come with truffle oil, sea salt and parmesan cheese. Did we mention that Richard Fiske’s has one of the best martini menus in the city? 301 Dauphine St, New Orleans, LA 70112 (504) 586-0972 4 3. Backspace Bar This place is a gem, in the middle of some great local dive bars. Their burger, like the rest of their menu, really stands out. First of all, they use American Kobe Beef (well, we’re sure it’s more Kobe-like as real Kobe meat in the US is somewhat of a controversy that we won’t go into here). Let’s just say that the meat is good. Add Brie cheese, caramelized onions and bacon on a brioche bun and you have one great burger. 139 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70130 (504) 322-2245 2. Galatoire’s 33 Bar & Steak Primarily a steakhouse, this new addition to the traditional, Old New Orleans creole restaurant, their 33 Bar & Steak makes a mean burger. We love the homemade pickles and the butter sautéed mushrooms. Add their bar fries and you’ve got one top burger for sure. 215 Bourbon St New Orleans, LA (504) 335-3932 And the number 1 Hamburger place in the French Quarter? 1. Port O Call We still think Port O Call is the best place to grab a burger in the city. Their burgers are just that damn good. Add to the mix their signature drink: the Monsoon and one of the best juke boxes in the city and you have the best place to get a burger. They serve their burgers with a baked potato, and while we love fries, this is now our go to combination (with a Monsoon of course). Each burger is thick and juicy with a nice char from the grill. This burger is ½ pound of fresh (never frozen), char grilled perfection that is ground in house. It is the quintessential New Orleans burger and we’re heading there now. All of this writing has made us hungry. 838 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 70116 (504) 523-0120 Our most disappointed burger was at Doris Metropolitan. We just didn’t like it. That said, we think it is the best steakhouse in town, but they gotta improve on that burger. Some honorable mentions were Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse (great high end burger), Mattassa’s Burger Po Boy (love their bread) & New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood. Let us know if you find a gem while visiting the French Quarter or already have a favorite we didn’t list here and we’ll check it out and add it to our blog. Group hugs, group sex, flash mobs, Groupons, and group discounts. Good things come in bunches. Every resort and cruise line have a groups department and we thought it was about time to set one up for us at both Couples Cruise and for Naughty in N’awlins. Most couples that come to Naughty or cruise with us are already in a circle of friends. You probably already go out together, travel and have fun together, so why not make it official and set yourselves up as a group. Why Book a Group? The easiest answer is to save money. We will be offering up to a 10% discount on reservations booked with a group, depending on the size and event/cruise. This is money you can spend on your plane tickets, excursions, drinks or simply save. Besides saving money, booking a group of friends can help you get close to each other on a cruise ship or in a hotel, larger groups can qualify for a private reception and you can reserve tables for dinner for your group. What does it take to make a Group? It just takes you and 4 other couples to get started. In order to qualify as a group, you need a minimum of 5 couples and you will each get a special 5% discount. We suggest coming up with a name for your group. Maybe you are from Atlanta and you call yourselves the 6 “Dirty Birds” or the “Big Easy’s” here in New Orleans. Maybe you have a local club like Colette and you put a group together called the “Colette Couples” or the “Club Kids”. Make T-Shirts, buy crazy matching hats or blinking sunglasses and recruit more people when you travel. Other people that are not with a group will want to be included in your group. Even if they are not from your home town or club, they can still be part of your group and earn discounts on future cruises and events. While you are at NIN, it is a great opportunity to recruit people into your group. If you haven’t signed up for the upcoming Couples Cruise, find other couples that are not signed up and your entire group could save 10%. How do we set up a Group It’s easy. There is a group form in your welcome bag and there are extra forms at our registration desk. Simply fill out the form and start taking names. Discounts are for new bookings only, so you can’t go find 4 other couples that are already signed up in order to get a discount. It doesn’t work that way. You can turn in your form, with at least 4 other couples, and you will start saving today. We can set up your cabins for one of our other exciting cruises in 2015 & 2016. Even if you don’t have everyone confirmed, we can block out 5 cabins for you and your friends today with only a small deposit. You can sign up the other couples when you get back home and we will hold your block of cabins for you. Bob & Tess’ Corner Since last year’s Naughty in N’awlins it has been quite a year. We went to our first Burning Man last August (loved it), put on the World’s Largest clothing optional, lifestyle cruise last November, we hosted an amazing group on the MSC Divina in April, we went back to the BVI’s for another Couples Cruise takeover and we just got back from our Rhine River cruise site inspection. The Divina is immaculate, simply stunning and modern with high end finishes we have not seen on any other ship. There are more pools, more hot tubs, more restaurants and more places to have fun than any ship we have ever been on. First of all, we have to say that the Rhine River cruise was so fantastic, we decided to book another one for 2016. We will be going from Budepest to Nuremberg and then Munich, Germany. Couples Cruise takes you places (amazing places)! The ship is selling well and all of the Yacht Club cabins are gone. At the time of publication, we have 2 suites left and several categories are getting close to sold out (especially on the higher decks. It’s been a very busy year for us and we are very excited about the future. Check out our site inspection report on the next page and see why we are so excited about river cruises. They are smaller and more intimate, but more importantly, they go to places that most thought they would never get to see. We will continue to produce the biggest and the most diverse cruises, conventions and adventures for the lifestyle community. Sign up while you are at NIN and you will earn discounts depending on what you book. Of course the BIG Ship is coming up next April on the MSC Divina and it will be the biggest lifestyle cruise ship of the year and might even break the record (set on the Independence of the Seas) for the largest clothing optional, lifestyle cruise in history! The pizza is the best we’ve had at sea (by far). They actually import the yeast from Italy and make their pizzas like they do in Naples, where the cruise line was founded. They bake them in brick ovens and they are a “must do” when on board. So do yourself a favor and book your cruise today. It is an investment in your happiness. It is an investment in your future. Finally, a tease... Our new Couples Cruise Website will be coming out soon. Very soon. It will be the best travel website for the lifestyle on the planet. Yep, it’s gonna be that good. We are moving mountains here at French Connection Events and Couples Cruise. Keep supporting us and we will help you make memories around the world. Your hosts, We sailed on the Divina this past April and we just loved it. Of course, we were in the super luxurious Yacht Club, so we were pampered beyond belief, but the rest of the ship is simply incredible. Tess taking pictures of ca stles along the Rhine Hiking waterfalls in the Black Forest 7 Swinging in the News The Battle for Acceptance Recently, the Supreme Court decided that gay marriage would be allowed everywhere and no state could ban gay marriage. It was not only a victory for gay rights but for sexual freedom. While the pendulum has swung in favor for sexual freedoms, starting with Lawrence versus Texas in 2003 which had dissenters predicting if private sex was a Constitutional right, then the next thing you knew, gay marriage would become a right and monogamy would become a thing of the past. Fast forward 13 years and they were certainly partially correct. Unfortunately for the “swing lifestyle” the pendulum has swung back the other way and lifestyle clubs continue to get shut down. Cities and states are passing stricter regulations and restrictions in order to banish lifestyle clubs from existence. The pendulum will not swing back the other way without your help. The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) is working to fund a study that will see what “Secondary Effects” swing clubs have on local communities. Recently in Tennessee, the state passed a bill banning a “private club” from being within 1,000 feet of a child care center, private school, public school, charter school, public park, or place of worship. They must also track every member to make sure that they are not a sexual predator. The city and state argued that “private clubs” that allowed people to have or witness sexual acts was a threat to the community because of the “secondary effects” of these clubs. They stated that crime would go up, property values would go down and that sexual predators would join. It is ridiculous. Ridiculous, but it happened and it will happen again and again. Club Joi in Los Angeles was shut down recently and is back up and running, but dealing with the city and new restrictions. Most of the clubs in Phoenix were shut down years ago and that city’s lifestyle population still longs for a place to meet without fear from the government. It has to stop and we should not fear for our jobs, our safety, custody of our children and our freedom, just because we believe in non-monogamy or the right to be non-monogamous. This secondary effects study is a key in swinging the pendulum of sexual freedom back our way. We have enclosed membership forms for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NSCSF) and we hope you join us in supporting organizations fighting for your sexual freedom by joining this weekend. 8 Swinger Pride Parade at NIN 2014 The study will be conducted by UCSB professor Dr. Linz to see if swing clubs truly have a negative secondary effect on their neighbors as many zoning ordinances cite when restricting where a club or party can operate. Tess and I put the first $2,500 into the fund to get this off the ground. We will be asking all of the business owners to do the same. I am confident that we will help NCSF reach their goal and there could be other studies (like one on STD’s) if this one is successful. I know everyone is here to have fun and to think about partying, not government issues or politics, but please take a minute to read about this study and support causes like this and the NCSF. Think about it; what if Naughty in N’awlins was shut down? What about your local club? What if hotels and restaurants started turning down Meet & Greets because of local pressure from lawmakers and city officials that think that they can pick up votes from curbing all of these bad “swing” clubs and parties from happening? It is happening right now in L.A. & in Nashville and your town could be next. Freedom has never happened without an economic engine to drive the fight. Woodhull needs financial support in order to get this study done and this study could help us defend against future restrictions. Change is coming and you can be part of it. Be on the side that supports the sexual freedom movement! Please fill out the membership forms and bring them to the registration area. The battle is not new Tess and I had a friend of ours run into a similar situation in Phoenix in 2002, when 5 clubs were raided and the owners, including our friend Milo, were arrested in the “sting”. Phoenix had passed a ban on “swing clubs” saying that they were “inimical to the health, safety, general welfare and morals of the inhabitants of the city of Phoenix”. Yes, this is what they used to ban clubs in Phoenix and after appealing to the appellate court, they lost and the club was closed for good in 2005. Since then, cities all over America adopted the “Phoenix swing club ban”. Groups that have an anti-sex agenda have been quietly sending the ordinance to city after city telling them that they need to pass this or they will be inundated with “sex clubs”. They cite the victory Phoenix had at the appellate court level as proof that this ordinance (which dictates the “morals” of it’s citizens) will hold up against legal challenges. So far, they have been right and many cities have adopted this very same language into their city zoning codes. Quietly, clubs have been closed, restricted to the point where they cannot operate fiscally and we see our sexual freedom suffer. The battle in Nashville The Social Club has been operating in Nashville since 1980. Al Woods, the owner, has faced several challenges from the city and has won every case, but right now, he is up against his biggest fight. One that not only threatens his club’s exis10 tence, but other clubs in Nashville, and Tennessee and beyond. When Al Woods was recently offered a price he could not refuse, he started looking for his next club. One where he would have more money to spend and create the club of his dreams. He visited building after building, always doing his due diligence to find out if each potential location was zoned properly for what he wanted to do. He found a great spot, but found out that the zoning would not work and he moved on. Eventually, he found a old medical facility that had been closed for years. It had a large open space in the middle and lots of examination rooms that could be used for playrooms and even more that could be rented out for the evening as a private room for members. It seemed like a great fit. He went to the zoning board and they gave him a thumbs up. In fact, they did more than give him a thumbs up, they stamped his permitted use permit “Approved” and Al went through with the purchase and started to get the property ready for the new club. Then the shit hit the fan. Not far from his new location was a church with a school. They got wind of the new “club” nearby and they immediately sprung into action. They went to the local zoning board in mass and made it clear that they were not happy and made lots of threats to the city employees and appointed officials that this new “club” would not be tolerated in their neighborhood. The next thing Al got was a notice that his permitted use was now “pending approval”. Well, you can imagine what Al Continued from previous page Woods thought when he found out his approval was retracted, he would not have bought the building if the city had not told him that he could operate at that location. It was just the start of a battle that will probably go on for several years and cost both Al and the city a lot of money with the fate of Nashville swingers held in the balance. It’s Official Under a lot of pressure, the city council drafted a ban on “private clubs” operating within 1,000 feet of a child care center, private school, public school, charter school, public park, or place of worship. This would effectively shut down the new Social Club for good. Or would it? The zoning inspector came over and put a “stop work” notice on the building and progress grinded to a stop. Al got with his legal team to see what his options were. Hypocrisy As they did some research they found out that there was a double standard. “Bad” businesses (bars, adult bookstores, strip clubs, adult businesses and now “private clubs”) were not allowed within 1,000 feet of these “good” businesses because of the bad “secondary effects” that could happen to these poor schools, churches and parks. The only thing is, if a church or a school wants to open next to a strip club, bar or any other adult business then the restriction is waived and the church or school gets approved. If these places really did pose a negative “secondary effect” then why would they approve the use of a building for a school or church next to one of these types of business? It’s because there are no negative secondary effects, that is not the goal of the zoning restrictions. The goal is to simply ban businesses that they do not like by creating so many restrictions that there virtually is no place left to open such a business. Nashville: Grand Zero The appointed officials are not worried about any backlash, because they do not believe that the community that supports these types of businesses will show up (like the church members did) and be vocal about supporting a club like The Social Club. When is a Church a Church Al’s legal team wondered why churches could open next to an adult business but an adult business could not open next to a church. They further wondered why there were so many hoops to jump through to open as a private club, but almost no requirements for churches trying to open. They had an idea... Why not open as a church? After all, what is a church other than a social organization of like minded people? Why do churches pay no taxes? Why can they open anywhere and yet others are restricted from opening up near them? They went down and filed to open Freedom 4 All, Inc a United Fellowship Center as a “religious institute”. The city had no choice but to approve the permits this time and Al and his troops went back to work. Now they face an uphill battle as they will fight the city on the restrictions passed by not only the city council, but a new bill (HB0480 ) that was passed at the state level on April 20th, 2015. In this bill (see next page) they define a “private club” as a club that contains rooms for couples and other themed rooms for members, but doesn’t mention sex in the bill. The purpose of this bill is to restrict these type of clubs from being anywhere near a park, school, day care or church. They also require these “private clubs” to monitor their membership to ensure that there are no registered sexual offenders allowed into the club. Ironically, the main place sexual offenses take place is in schools, day care and church facilities. Why are these places not asked to monitor their member for sexual offenders? It’s time for a Study As mentioned earlier in this article and in this program, it is time for some studies that can be used to counter the claims that these clubs are a “public nuisance” and a negative effect on communities. The Supreme Court has already decided that cities need not prove that there are negative effects or health risks, those burdens are on the clubs. That is why these studies are crucial for these clubs to survive. continued on page 12 11 HB0480 BILL SUMMARY Here is a summary of the bill recently passed by Tennessee Lawmakers to further restrict “private clubs” that is intended to affect only “swing clubs”: Under this bill, the following restrictions will apply to a private club, as defined by this bill, located in Davidson County upon the adoption of a resolution by 2/3 vote of the county legislative body: (1) A private club may not locate within 1,000 feet of a child care center, private school, public school, charter school, public park, or place of worship; (2) For purposes of (1) above, measurements will be made in a straight line in all directions, without regard to intervening structures or objects, from the nearest point on the property line of a parcel containing a private club to the nearest point on the property line of a parcel containing a child care center, private school, public school, charter school, public park, or place of worship; and (3) A private club may not extend membership or offer access to the club to a person who must comply with the Sexual Offender and Violent Sexual Offender Registration, Verification, and Tracking Act as a sexual offender or violent sexual offender. For purposes of this bill, a "private club" is any club or organization that satisfies the following: (1) The club does not permit the general public access to its facilities or activities; (2) The club denies access to anyone who does not adhere to the rules of membership; (3) The club is located in Davidson County; (4) The club does not provide membership to persons under 21 years of age; (5) The club's members do not vote on the admittance of new members; (6) The club accepts applications for membership without a current member's recommendation; and (7) The club contains rooms for couples and other themed rooms for members. ON MARCH 23, 2015, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 480, AS AMENDED. AMENDMENT #1 redefines "private club" to mean a club or organization that operates for the purpose of providing members of the club with the opportunity to engage in or view live specified sexual activities. This amendment specifies that upon the adoption of the provisions of this bill, the county legislative body may deny a building permit, use and occupancy permit, or other zoning permit applicable to a private club determined to be in violation of this bill. This bill further specifies that this bill does not apply to adult-oriented establishments. 12 continued from page 11 If we can help fund an NCSF study that will focus on secondary effects, then we have a chance to make a difference. While the Social Club finishes their inspections and waits to get their final occupancy permit, they have hosted some local socials at a nearby hotel. When they finally do open, we will be there, proudly supporting the rights of people to congregate together for a common cause. This opening will not only be another step in the eventual legal showdown between Nashville and The Social Club, it is a showdown between the government and our sexual rights. You may not know this, but Bob has been a licensed minister for the past 15 years. We used to own a wedding planning company and he married several couples that could not find a church or a minister that would preside over their ceremony. Maybe he has found his calling after all as part of Freedom 4 All, a religious institute indeed. A Case for Non-Monogamy What is a swinger? To me, it is simply someone that is nonmonogamous. How many single people are non-monogamous? Are they swingers too? No one seems to be concerned with singles going to bars and meeting people or hooking up, but they sure want to prevent couples from doing it. Why? Are they insecure about their own marriages or relationships? Are they afraid that they will be forced to be a swinger? Of course not, but they might be afraid that they cannot contain the fact that they are attracted to other people and they are afraid that they may stray or cheat. It is a fact that 50% of married people cheat at some point in their relationship. Coincidently, about 50% of marriages end in divorce. See a correlation? If cheating is SUCH a big problem for couples, why isn’t non-monogamy looked to as an option instead of vilified as immoral and unacceptable? When talking about sexual freedom issues, we hear people all the time say that “swingers” will never get rights because swinging is just a choice, not something you are born as, like being gay. Well, we disagree, as we believe we are born nonmonogamous and that monogamy is actually a learned behavior. For a long time, being gay was considered a “choice” by those that wanted to limit gay marriage and defend state sodomy laws. Science now tells us that being gay is in our genes (not our jeans). In fact, there is a shared genetic marker, a patch of DNA called Xq28, in people that associate themselves as gay. If we are born with predetermined sexual preferences, how does monogamy and non-monogamy fit in? Only 3 to 5% of the over 5,000 species of mammals are known to be monogamous. This includes humans which are not very good at it either. In fact, in the 238 societies around the world, only 43 are monogamous. Throughout history (even the bible) it is noted that multiple wives was common place. Monogamy is a recent addition that is centered in Western society and is now considered the “moral” way to conduct yourself. We believe you can be ethically non-monogamous (there is a great book titled “The Ethical Slut” that we recommend to anyone struggling with this concept) and that “swinging” is much more natural than monogamy. So the next time you hear someone say that we will never have rights and we will never be able to be “out” as a swinger, we point to the gay community that can not only legally marry but cannot be discriminated against based on their sexuality. The day is coming when non-monogamy will also be protected and we will be able to live our lives without fear, shame and persecution. We aren’t there yet, but it’s coming. Our “Pride Parade” and our battles in L.A., Nashville and other cities is the start of more sexual freedom for us all. 13 Rhine River Site Inspection Tess & I just got back from Europe, here is our report s of Castles Tess taking pic A Cruise like no other... We have been on over 100 cruises, so we are pretty experienced cruisers. When we packed for this cruise, we only had our past experience to go by, but we soon found out that this cruise was going to be unlike any other cruise we have ever been on. First of all, unlike most cruises, we were in port most evenings which allowed us to go off the ship and try out pubs, local nightlife and lifestyle clubs. We wish more cruise ships stayed overnight so we could do this in other ports, but we really enjoyed experiencing the nightlife in Amsterdam & Germany. We will visit a 1st class lifestyle club while in Amsterdam as well as tour the Red Light District, the Sex Museum, and show you some of Europe's best live sex shows. This is a Couples Cruise, so there will not be any kids, just couples acting like children. 14 Nightlife & Clubs We started our journey with a walk through the Red Light District in Amsterdam with stops at the Sex Museum and a few pubs. There were some really stunning girls working on this night and we had a hard time leaving but we had to check out the local clubs. We ended up at Paradise Club, which is the closest club to where we were docked and was only 10-15 minutes from the ship. private rooms, dark rooms, and a large main area and bar. We had a great night and got to meet some great locals. We can’t wait to go back. Site Inspections help us prepare We swam in the infinity pool, watched a movie in the theater, hiked one of the largest waterfalls in Europe, we rode bikes, went to wine tastings, sampled German beers in pubs and strolled through villages. We really liked the club, which was no surprise to us because we have not found a bad club so far on our trips to Holland. The hosts made us feel very comfortable and the place was very classy and laid out well. There was a pool, a sauna, some Black Forest Full Ship Charter 2015 We did as much as we could so we would know what needed to be kept and what we could add to make this the best European Couples Cruise. It was a truly amazing ship We were so impressed by the ship, it far exceeded our expectations. The staff was fantastic and really made our cruise that much more special; we couldn't have asked for better service. The food was great, especially the way they introduce local wines, beer and food into the menu each evening. We LOVED the pool and the decor of the ship was very clean and modern. It was a 1st class experience. One of our favorite times was being on the top deck, taking pictures of castles as we floated down the river. Castles, Castles and more Castles Tess and I love castles, in fact, we used to own one. We knew when we went to Germany that we'd see a lot of castles but we had no idea there would be so many. We saw over 30 castles in one stretch as we cruised between Koblenz and Rudesheim. Touring the Heidelberg Castle and the Fortress Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz were some of the highlights of our tour. It's amazing that these castles could be built with the technology in place at the time they were constructed and that so many are still intact. The Black Forest We end our trip with a tour through the Black Forest where you'll see cuckoo clocks, waterfalls and a beautiful farm dating back into the 1500's. It was a great tour (one of our favorites) and a great way to end our journey through Germany. Excursions are included We have some great tour guides that will show you about each local town and city, as well a,s some far reaching places like the Black Forest and Heidelberg. We only use first class coaches and modern head- sets so that everyone can hear the tour guide clearly. Red Light District Top 10 Reasons to Book this Cruise: 10. No seasickness: Smooth rivers without any waves 9. All Inclusive: Drinks, Meals and your Excursions are included 8. Wine: We will sail through some of the best vineyards in Europe 7. Amsterdam: One of the best cities in Europe to visit and we will be docked right downtown, within walking distance to everything And the #1 reason to book this Rhine River Couples Cruise: The people. If you went on a regular European River Cruise, the average age would be 70 and they would all be in bed by 9:30pm. On this cruise, there will be a great mix of people and we will be dancing the night away while enjoying everything that Couples Cruise has to offer. So just do it! Don't wait until you are 70 years old and you can't fully enjoy this adventure. Our Lounge Amsterdam Canals 15 Our Thoughts, Philosophies, Tips & Opinions For each event, we write a few of our thoughts, philosophies and opinions in our program with the hope that you’ll find a few parts funny, a few serious and a few that make you actually think. Colette For Years our Wednesday Night parade ended at Colette & those that got the Wed package could get into Colette for free. This year we've made some changes. First of all, the parade will start at our hotel, not end here. We will have our after party at the Bourbon Pub in the 800 block of Bourbon St. We love a great Parade The Parade on Wednesday Night is our signature event and there isn’t anything else like it in the world. Here are a couple of things to help the parade be the best ever: 1. Make a sign In the lobby, there will be posters and markers where you can make your own sign. We will have some samples for you or you can use your imagination to come up with something clever. If you registered for Wednesday, your pass will still get you into Colette on either Wednesday or Thursday nights for free (only one night). So, stop on over after the Pajama Party lets out or wait and go Thursday night. By splitting up the Wednesday crowd between two nights, you will get a much better experience at the club; one of the best in the country. Who Loves Wine? We do! And we really love Bar Vin, a classy little oasis, just off Bourbon Street (on Bienville Street). Join Patrick, the bar owner, and us as we try some great choices from around the world, even a vineyard owned by a local French Quarter doctor (it’s really good!). This is a great new addition to our itinerary, we hope you will like the bar and the courtyard as much as we do. It’s listed in the schedule, but this party is Wednesday from 3 to 6 pm., but there is also a one hour girls only “Girls Uncorked” Party from 2 - 3 pm to get the party started and recruit new Girls Uncorked chapters throughout the country. It’s a great way to kick off the event and a great Meet & Greet before the parade kicks off. Hard Rocking Since we are starting the parade in front of our hotel, we set up a Meet & Greet at the Hard Rock across the street from 8 till 9 pm (when the parade kicks off). This isn’t one of our sit down dinners, but more of a cocktail reception to get everyone ready for the parade. If you are hungry, we suggest coming over at 6 pm so you will have plenty of time to sit down, relax and have a great meal before the parade kicks off. Tip: Make sure you get a “To Go Cup” for the parade. It is legal to take a beer or a mixed drink into the street in New Orleans, as long as it’s not in a glass container, and you don’t want to be empty handed when the parade kicks off. 16 2. Wear your PJ’s The theme of the parade and the after party is “Pajama Parade”. We want you to be sexy, but don’t get carried away. The local Police department is awesome and they are not on the streets looking for trouble. Of course, if you show up with your junk hanging out or your boobs totally exposed for the entire parade, they are going to have to say something. Flashing is fine on Bourbon St., but walking around topless is not. Showing any genitalia, below the waist, is not acceptable either. So cover up so we don’t have to come bail you out of the (not so nice) jail we have a short trek from Bourbon St. 3. Wear a Mask if you want Some people do not want to be caught in a “Swinger’s Parade” so they buy a cheap Mardi Gras mask from one of the many shops on Bourbon St. You can wear it again during the Saturday Night Masquerade Balls, so you might want to invest in a nice one. Most pictures show the front of the parade, so if you are really scared of being photographed in the parade, go towards the middle or the back of the parade. You can also go down the street, get up on a balcony and watch the parade come by and join up after it rolls by. It is really quite a sight, especially from a balcony. You won’t find another parade like this. We will have a police escort, a marching band, a dance team, Mardi Gras floats and much more. The energy you will find while in the parade is something you just HAVE to see to believe. “No Street Clothes” Rule on the Hospitality Floor Starting on Thursday Night, we will have a “No Street Clothes” Rule on this floor. You don’t have to be naked, in fact we prefer a robe, lingerie, pajamas or a towel when going to and from the party suites. If you want to play at night, this is the place. If you want to hang out in your street clothes and talk, head to our nightly theme party or head to the lobby and go to the bar located just to the right after coming off the elevators. Why do we have a “No Street Clothes” Rule? Because we have been to lots of conventions over the years and we always see the same thing: lots of people on the party floor, fully dressed, drinks in their hands, talking and hanging out and no one was using any of the “play space”. Then one year, we tried the “No Street Clothes” Rule and there wasn’t nearly as many people hanging out in the halls; they were mostly inside, playing and having a great time. Why? Because they didn’t have barriers and they were already one step closer to intimacy. It also kept out the people that never intended on playing anyway. If they had to get undressed, they would prefer to head to the lobby bar and socialize, instead of crowding the party floor with non-party-ers. Every night there will be pizzas & water for those who need a bit more energy for their playtime in the lobby area of M2 (Mezzanine Level). Music We love music, and we will be embarking on a musical journey this weekend. Most conventions play a lot of rap music, techno and club music. A lot of people like this music (yes, they really do) but there are so many more music choices that get left out. This weekend we’re going to do our best to play a wide diversity of music. This year, we have two venues open each night. One (the Astor Ballroom) will play more club music and the other (The Grand Ballroom) one a variety of disco, dance, top 40 and yes, even some slow songs. We will also try to keep the volume down so you can talk and get to know each other. Tip: If it is too loud for you near the dance floor (where we concentrate the loudest music), try heading to a table around the perimeter of the ballroom. You’ll still get to hear the music (at a much lower volume) but it’ll be easier to talk to other couples in a very comfortable setting. N’awlins 2015 If you don’t like the music that is playing, give us a minute, we will probably change as the night goes on so we can cater to a wide variety of tastes or try the other ballroom. If you still don’t hear something you like, let the DJ know (and be nice) and they’ll probably play your favorite song. Saying “we want more dance music” means different things to different people, so be specific and we can accommodate your request. Lifestyle Business Owners We will have a special Lifestyle Business Owners meeting each morning at 10 a.m. in the Astor Ballroom on the 2nd Floor (check the schedule). We are also having an Industry Reception on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the main Gallery, just outside the ballroom on the 2nd floor. If you own a lifestyle business (or are thinking about it), this is a great chance to network with other club owners and find out more about the status of the industry. Finally, there is a special Adventure we (Bob & Tess) will be hosting on Saturday afternoon. If you are a lifestyle business owner and you didn’t get an invitation in your welcome aboard package, please come by registration to sign up for this “Excellent Adventure”. The tour starts in the hotel lobby entrance on Canal St. at 12:15 pm. There are no food stops on this trip, so grab a bite before you head out. Next year’s Naughty We sold out the entire hotel a couple of weeks before this year’s event and next year will sell out faster. If you want to stay in the main tower, there is a 4 night minimum and this tower sold out months early, so book before you leave to ensure you get into the tower and room category you want. As usual, we will have two price increases, one on November 15th, 2015 and the next one will be May 15th, 2016. Each date, the price per couple will go up by $50, so if you wait until the last minute, you will be paying $100 extra. You can sign up for next year’s event by filling out our simple form in the registration area of the main lobby before you leave. This will guarantee you the best price and the best location in the hotel. Next year’s dates shift back to our regular early July dates and will be held July 6 - 10th. There is a form in every welcome bag and Tess will be in the lobby taking advance reservations and requests for rooms. Last year we received almost 100 reservations before NIN was over (that is 1/4 of the main tower). We sold out all of the executive level, so book this wekeend if you want the best rooms. 17 Couples Cruise: Bigger & Better The MSC Divina our next Full Ship Charter in the Caribbean April 16-23, 2016 You won’t find a bigger or better clothing optional, lifestyle cruise Cabins are selling fast We have sold more cabins on the upcoming full ship charter cruise than we did on the Independence of the Seas when we were this far out. The British Virgin Islands Back to the BVI’s Last month, Tess & I went back to the BVIs as part of one of our Couples Cruise Charters and we had another great time in paradise. The British Virgin Islands is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots in the Caribbean and you will love it too. We swam with another shark, found more treasure from the 1600’s, did a lot of diving, snorkeling as well as a whole lot of nothing (ie: relaxing). We went to several different ports this time, making our trip unique and almost like a completely different cruise from last year’s BVI adventure. Jost Van Dyke Of course, we sailed with an entirely different group, so it really was like a different cruise and we simply loved them both. So much so, that we are already busy booking more groups for 2016. The ship holds 5 couples (4 standard cabins and one suite), but you can charter the ship for four couples or even three couples, the choice is yours. The crew provides everything from all inclusive drinks and food, to entertainment and help getting the party started. They know the BVIs like the back of their hand and know the best spots to moor up at night and explore during the day. The crew definitely makes this journey special because they are “lifestylers” too, so they “get it”. It’s so nice to be able to swim naked or get an all over tan without worrying about the crew and what they will think (they may just join you!). Beautiful Sunsets Join us in 2016 or put together your own private charter with your friends. We have a limited amount of dates available in 2016 We can reserve dates for you while at NIN and get you started on your BVI Adventure 21 Sailing the BVIs with Couples Cruises Unbelievable scenery Treasure! Sponsored by the: National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) Sponsor Spotlight The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) was formed in 1997 by a small group led by Susan Wright under the auspices of the New York SM Activists. The goal was to fight for sexual freedom and privacy rights for all adults who engage in safe, sane and consensual behavior. Today, NCSF has over 50 Coalition Partners who elect the board that runs NCSF, and establish our goals at the annual Coalition Partner meeting. Coalition Partners are groups and businesses who serve BDSM, swing and polyamory practitioners and also support NCSF by holding an annual fundraiser. NCSF also has over 100 Supporting Members – groups and businesses that support NCSF. Over the years, NCSF has formed alliances with other organizations that defend sexual freedom rights: Free Speech Coalition, the ACLU, American Association of Sex Educators Councilors and Therapists, Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and the Gay and Lesbian Activist Alliance, among others. As an advocacy organization, one of NCSF's strategies has been to educate the media about issues facing the SMLeather-Fetish, swing and polyamory communities. NCSF's Media Outreach Program has developed a package of materials that provide information about NCSF and the communities we represent. 24 This program provides education and training to groups and individuals on how to effectively interact with the media. NCSF's Incident Reporting and Response(IRR) helped hundreds individuals, groups and businesses when they faced persecution because of their involvement with BDSM, swinging or polyamory. The IRR program has been underway since 1997, providing people with advice, documentation to assist their efforts, and help with strategy and tactics. The NCSF is the organization that is commissioning the study for secondary effects of lifestyle clubs that will be instrumental in the struggle for clubs to be able to open and operate within the United States. NCSF has an Education Outreach Program (EOP). This program is designed to educate law enforcement officials about our communities, and educate members of our community regarding the risks of selective enforcement and how to minimize the risk of becoming a target. Please support the NCSF as they support our lifestyle and sexual freedom issues nationwide. In the past decade, alternative sexual expression has become much more visible to the general public. As we continue to move into the streets of mainstream America, we face an increasing number of attacks against our right to freedom of sexual expression. N’awlins 2015 Schedule We aren’t going to publish our schedule in this year’s program, instead, you can get it on your smart phone by going to naughtyinnawlins2015.sched.org/mobile and you will get live, up to date information on our parties, seminars and erotic theme balls. Vendor Area N’awlins 2015 Recommended Vendors We used to have a large vendor area with people selling sexy clothes and themed outfits for our parties. Since so many of our parties are outside of our hotel, it became hard for them to sell enough to make it worthwhile to attend, especially with so many great boutique and adult stores right here in the French Quarter. This year we have panties with pockets, wicked cool eye makeup and lashes and some terrific body painters. Come check out our vending area and enjoy what the French Quarter has to offer. The French Quarter has a lot of great shops and many will give you a discount if you show them your badges. Here are just a few of our favorite places to shop locally. If you get great service (or even better yet, a discount). Be sure to give them a Naughty Thank You card! QT Pie: 241 Dauphine St. Tess’ Favorite Store in the French Quarter, stop by and see why. Tonight, we are going to have a good time for sure. At every Naughty in N’awlins, there is a Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, it’s our signature event and no one does it better. As a couple that lives in New Orleans (we actually live only a couple of blocks from this hotel), we know what it’s like to party like it’s Mardi Gras. Tonight we will feature one of our favorite acts, a sexy aerialist duo act that was in our last Fantasy show on the Independence of the Seas. We will also have some sexy gogo dancers, and other talent along with so many sexy costumes and outfits which is why this is always a favorite night at NIN. Sponsor Spotlight Created by real swingers, Kasidie.com is a unique social community devoted to the swinging lifestyle. The site is filled with swinger profiles, parties, travel, reviews and articles, along with relevant utilities, tools, features and of course, fun! Started in 2006 as an online magazine catering to over 25 million swingers worldwide, in 2008 Kasidie was enhanced with a custom, proprietary (built completely in-house) "Web 2.0" swingers social network that enables the community to connect, meet and communicate in ways never before available. Mardi Gras Night 2014 Unlike other sites, Kasidie.com is not a porn site masquerading as a swingers site... it IS a swingers site, created by real swingers, for swingers. Kasidie is a fun, sexy gathering place for seasoned swingers, newbies and even curious vanillas (non-swingers) to learn about and join in the swinging lifestyle. Sign up for a membership at the Kasidie.com booth located on the 2nd floor, just outside the ballrooms. 30 N’awlins 2015 Hospitality Floor Hospitality Floor 2M Mezzanine Level Check out our Hospitality Floor on M2 (Mezzanine Level). Open every night at 11 pm, this area is for couples only, so you have to enter and leave with your partner. We will have a “Sneak Peek” on Thursday from 10 - 11 pm so you can see the hospitality floor while it is not being used. This is great for new couples that are scared to go up once the room is open. The Perfect Playroom At all of our conventions & Couples Cruise charters we have playrooms where you can expand your sexual horizons and explore your own fantasies. Some people are intimidated by any playroom and are unsure about checking them out, so on the 1st night, we always have an hour long preview where you can tour the playrooms, ask questions and see what they are all about before anyone is actually using them. Are our playrooms perfect? Of course not, but we strive to put together the "Perfect Playroom" and we are know that our playrooms are the best in the business. We are always improving and adding things to make the experience better; read on and find out what we do to create the sexiest playrooms at any event or on any cruise ship. Creating Your Experience If you are not comfortable, you don't have to come into the playrooms at all, it's your choice. But if you do, you can set the level of your experience to your level of comfort. You can do as much or as little as you want in our playrooms. You can just watch others or be watched if that is where you feel comfortable. Our drapes allow you to be as private as you want to be by giving you the option to leave the curtains open, so anyone can see, closing the sheers for a little more privacy or you can close the drapes completely for maximum privacy. We will have clean sheets and towels available, but please, do us a favor and clean up after yourselves. We want you to have a great time, but respect those that will use the area after you and leave it as you found it. We have trash cans in every room, so don’t be a “Condom Creep” and throw them on the floor and we promise not to come to your house and throw our condoms on your floor. Every night, just after midnight, we bring in a bunch of pizza (I mean a BUNCH) and it goes quickly, so be on the lookout if you need a night time snack. 31 Poker Run Wednesday 12:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. Party at Bar Vin 730 Bienville St (just off Bourbon St) Thursday 12:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. Party at Spirits 615 Bourbon St. qwer qw e r 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Party at Bourbon Heat 711 Bourbon St. qwer Friday 12:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. Party at Bourbon Cowboy 241 Bourbon St. 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Party at The Beach 227 Bourbon St Saturday qw e r 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Party at The Swamp 516 Bourbon St. 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Party at Razoo 511 Bourbon St. qwer qwer qw e r Poker Run Rules See Meredith (aka the Poker Queen) at all of our Poker Run events and she will document your cards.
