CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Please read all instructions carefully before beginning. ¼" seam allowance is included
in measurements and all strips are cut across the width of the fabric unless noted otherwise. Label pieces and keep together until ready to sew. These instructions are based on
unwashed fabrics. LOF = length of fabric, parallel to selvage. WOF = width of fabric,
selvage to selvage.
A.Pattern #25937 – MUL1 (panel):
1. Fussy-cut four red panels 1/4" out from edges (approximately
91/4" wide x 91/2" tall).
2. Fussy-cut two rectangles 1/4" out from edges (approximately
207/8" wide x 9" tall).
B.Pattern #25938 – GRE1 (santas):
1. Cut four 31/2" x 30" LOF strips. Sew together end to end, then cut
into two 31/2" x 591/2" borders.
2. Cut four 31/2" x remaining WOF strips. Sew together end to end,
then cut into two 31/2" x 411/2" borders.
C.Pattern #25938 – RED1 (santas):
1. Cut four 31/4" x 30" LOF strips. Sew together end to end, then cut
into two 31/4" x 591/2" borders.
PIECING INSTRUCTIONS:
A. Star Block:
1. From 3" K strip, cut eight diamonds with Diamond Template.
From 3" F strips, cut sixteen diamonds. From 3" L strip, cut eight
diamonds (Figure 1).

2. From 7" E strip, cut eight diamonds, four in each direction as shown
(Figure 2).
2. Cut four 31/2" x remaining WOF strips. Sew together end to end,
then cut into two 31/2" x 411/2" borders.
D.Pattern #25939 – GRE1 (stripe):
1. Cut four 2" strips. Sub-cut two 2" x 361/2" borders and two
2" x 391/2" borders.
E.Pattern #25939 – RED1 (stripe):
1. Cut one 7" strip.
F. Pattern #25943 – GRE1 (peppermints):
1. Cut two 3" strips.
G.Pattern #25943 – LTCRE1 (peppermints):
1. Cut three 31/4" strips.
H.Pattern #25942 – MUL1 (tossed motifs):
1. Cut one 101/4" strip. Sub-cut two 101/4" squares. Cut in half
diagonally twice.
I. Pattern #25942 – RED1 (tossed motifs):
1. Cut one 101/4" strip. Sub-cut two 101/4" squares and four 11/4" x 10"
strips. Cut the 101/4" squares in half diagonally twice.
J. Pattern #25940 – BEI1 (snowflakes):
1. Cut one 161/4" strip. Sub-cut one 161/4" square and one 11" square.
Cut the 161/4" square in half diagonally twice.
2. Cut one 11" strip. Sub-cut three 11" squares.
K.Pattern #25940 – DKGRE1 (snowflakes):
1. Cut three 31/4" strips.
2. Cut one 3" strip.
3. Cut eight 21/4" strips (binding).
4. Cut five 11/2" strips. Sew together end to end, then cut into two
11/2" x 571/2" borders and two 11/2" x 411/2" borders.
5. Cut two 11/4" strips. Sub-cut two 11/4" x 21" strips.
L.Pattern #25940 – RED1 (snowflakes):
1. Cut one 3" strip.
M.Pattern #25941 – MUL1 (words):
1. Cut six 31/2" strips. Sew together end to end, then cut into two
31/2" x 591/2" add borders and two 31/2" x 411/2" borders.
5. Sew one E diamond, one F diamond and a pieced diamond in a row
as shown (Figure 5). Press toward F. Make a total of four each Units
1a and 1b as shown. TIP: Stitch together, aligning the pieces as shown so
fabrics meet at the 1/4" seam line. (Figure 6).

3. From 3 /4" G and K strips, cut thirty-two half-diamonds from each
fabric using Triangle Template (Figure 3).

6. Make eight each Units 2 and 3 (Figure 7). Press away from L in
Unit 2 and toward the center pieced diamond in Unit 3.

Unit 3 – Make 8.

7. Sew one each Units 1a, 2 and 3 together into Star Point 1. Press
toward Unit 2. Make a total of four. Sew one each Units 1b, 2 and
3 together into Star Point 2. Press away from Unit 2. Make a total of
four (Figure 8).

4. Sew G and K half-diamonds together to
make thirty-two pieced diamonds
(Figure 4). Press toward K.

8. Sew one each Star Points 1 and 2 together as shown, stopping
stitching 1/4" from the inside square corner between the points. Press
seam open. Make a total of four Star Sections (Figure 9).
9. Arrange the four Star Sections as shown. Stitch into rows, stopping
stitching at the 1/4" seam line in the "V" between Star Sections. Press
seams open. In the same manner, sew rows together (Figure 10).

10. Stitch 11" J squares in four corners of the star and 161/4" J triangles
on each side of star using set-in seams to complete the 361/2" Star
Block (Figure 11). Press toward J.

1. Sew 2" x 361/2" D strips to right and left sides of Star Block. Press
toward D. Sew 2" x 391/2" D strips to top and bottom of Star Block.
Press toward D.
2. Add Pieced Borders to top and bottom of quilt center.
3. Sew 11/2" x 571/2" K borders to long sides of quilt center. Stitch
11/2" x 411/2" K strips to top and bottom of quilt. Press toward K.
4. Stitch Long Strip Borders to right and left sides of quilt center. Press
toward borders. Sew 91/2" A squares to both ends of each Short Strip
Border. Press toward borders. Add to top and bottom of quilt center.
Press toward borders.
Finishing:
1. Cut two 85" x WOF pieces of backing. Remove selvage edges. Sew
together on long edges and trim to make 67" x 85" backing.
2. Layer backing, batting and quilt top. Baste layers together.
3. Quilt as desired
3. Trim layers even with quilt top.
4. Sew 21/4" K binding strips together end to end with diagonal seams.
Press seams open. Press strip in half lengthwise. Sew binding to quilt
using your favorite method.

4. Refer to color quilt image and quilt diagram for placement of fabrics
in strip borders. Stitch C 31/4" x 591/2" strips and B and M 31/2" x
591/2" strips together lengthwise. Press toward C. Make two Long
Strip Borders. Stitch M, B and C 31/2" x 411/2" strips together lengthwise. Press toward C. Make two Short Strip Borders.

TIP: SET-IN SEAMS are needed to add pieces that require two separate seams
because a straight seam will not work. A set-in seam is made by sewing one
side of the piece being added (in this case a square or triangle) to one side of a
diamond. The fabric is then removed from the sewing machine, the pieces are
folded so the second side of the triangle or square aligns with the side of another
diamond. That second seam is sewn, then the piece is pressed flat. All stitching
begins or ends at the 1/4" seam at the inside corners (Figure 12).

B. Completing Borders:

1. Arrange two each H and I 10 /4" triangles

as shown. Stitch together. Press toward I.

Make four 91/2" Corner Blocks (Figure 13).
Make 4.
2. Sew a 11/4" x 21" K strip to the top of
each A 207/8" x 9" rectangle. Press toward K. Trim K ends even
with A. Sew 11/4" x 10" I strips to each end of A. Press toward I.
Trim each rectangle to 91/2" x 211/2", removing excess from the K
and I edges.
3. Sew the pieced A sections between two Corner blocks. Press toward
Corner blocks. Make two 91/2" x 301/2" Pieced Borders (Figure 14).

5. Make a label and sew to back of quilt.
