Pennisi turns pink –
for cancer research
Raising funds for cancer research is an on-going
program for Pennisi Real Estate. The agency is
forever looking for innovative and communityembracing ways to raise more money for this
important work.
Real Estate
Watchdogs
Our new homebuyers
advocacy service.
The latest effort was Think Pink. During
October the company’s sale boards were
painted an eye-catching pink – the color linked
to cancer awareness. For each property sold
during the month, Pennisi Real Estate donated
$500 to cancer research.
As a result, the windfall for cancer research was
thousands of dollars.
Another successful cancer research fundraiser
was the recent Pennisi gala ball. Held on Grand
Final Eve at the glorious Victorian mansion,
Ascot House, 110 people whirled the night
away. The event raised $5200 for the company’s
forthcoming Relay-for-Life participation.
Relay-for-Life will be held on February 8 – 9 at
Windy Hill. The 24-hour event starts at 6pm
and Pennisi Real Estate is keen to enlist as
many participants as possible. The event is not
a race – it is simply a matter of having someone
on the track all the time – people can leisurely
stroll for a half-an-hour or an hour or longer, if
they wish.
Pennisi Real Estate is also eager to get
sponsorship for Relay-for-Life. If you wish to
be a sponsor and/or participant, contact the
company.
Pennisi Real Estate is indebted to the people
who got behind the ball and sincerely thanks
them. Likewise, the company will be grateful to
those who help with the Relay-for-Life event.
Are you buying at Auction? If
you don’t know the tricks used
at auctions, you are certain to
get hurt. Most auction agents
have no regard for your feelings.
That’s why you need Real
Estate Watchdogs on your team.
Since the launch of Real Estate
Watchdogs we have been helping
buyers secure their dream homes
for thousands below their limits
and getting rave reviews in the
process. “We got a house and
we got it for $53,000 under our
limit. Thanks to you for your great
advice and guidance. Andrew
Pennisi was as cool as a cucumber
bidding at auction”, one client
said. For more details on how
we can protect you and save you
thousands for very little cost

Footy tipping whiz
Long-time Pennisi football tipping participant Ed Woods was this year’s winner.
Showing a clean pair of heels for most of the season, Mr Woods ended with a tally of
125 points – three clear of second place. To show how tough the competition is, he
averaged a remarkable 5.68 points a round.
For his efforts, Mr Woods won $2000. However, such is his belief in the importance of
finding ways to beat cancer he donated $500 to assist further research into this dreadful
disease.
More than 800 people, from around the world, took part in the 2007 tipping
competition.

The local community’s electronic billboard
– Essendonblog – has quickly established
itself as the first reference point for what is
happening in the Essendon district. If you
wish to promote a local event or just want

Prepared for new body
corporate laws
All staff in the Body Corporate Department
have undergone extensive training in
preparation for the Owners Corporation Act
coming into force on December 31 2007.
The new Act incorporates relevant sections
of the current Subdivision (Body Corporate)
Regulations 2001 and Subdivision Act 1988.
It builds on and enhances these provisions
to give owners corporations the powers that
are necessary to carry out their functions,
and requires them to exercise these powers
responsibly. Pennisi Body Corporate team
members are ready to help clients with this
major change in the way bodies corporate
will operate. If you want to know more about
the new Act, contact the Body Corporate
Department.

Market report
The market seems to show no let up. It
is literally going gangbusters. Such is the
strength of the market that our clients
have their properties listed for sale for less
than one month – with almost 25% of
sales achieved in less than 10 days. This is
extraordinary. Not only are properties in
high demand, prices have continued on an
upward trend. As a result listings are scarce
and we are in urgent need of more listings
to satisfy the many buyers in our Buyers
Club. If you are thinking of selling, or know
someone who is, we would love to hear from
you.
The last increase – a quarter of one per
cent – in interest rates by the Reserve Bank
hardly slowed the momentum of the market.
Buyers simply factored the rise into their
sums and went out buying, watching prices
continue to rise.
The usual degree of consumer uncertainty
caused by the Federal election campaign has
slightly affected the market, but I expect
that it will bounce back no matter what
party wins government.
The rental market is also very tight. For
many months our vacancy rate has been less
than one per cent and there is no indication
that this will change for the foreseeable
future. For people wanting to rent, it is
very difficult. And it highlights the value
of people having rental properties in their
investment portfolios. – Sam Pennisi
The winners circle
Sales representative Sam Hurst is in
the top three per cent of real estate
sales representatives in the nation. This
achievement has been acknowledged by the
Winners’ Circle Gold Badge which has been
awarded to him by Pittard Training, the real
estate education arm used by Pennisi Real
Estate to provide continuing professional
development to staff. Sam has joined
colleagues Andrew and Sam Pennisi and
Mark Marazita in this rarefied stratosphere of
superior salespeople.
Office hours over Festive
Season.
Over the Festive Season Pennisi Real Estate
will be open everyday except Christmas and
New Years Day. If you are thinking of buying,
selling or renting this could be a great time for
you to get a jump on the New Year market.
Teresa is Employee of the
Quarter
Sales representative Teresa Soliman is
Employee of the Quarter. Her enthusiasm,
willingness to help and bubbly personality
has permeated through the office in the
short time that she has been with Pennisi
Real Estate. Teresa, who has been in sales
for a number of years, said that it was
flattering to be honoured by her workmates
but believed that she was really just carrying
out her duties – helping clients and assisting
colleagues. “It is wonderful to be recognised
and to know that your professionalism
with clients is acknowledged by your
colleagues,” she said. “It is also nice to
have acknowledgement for the long hours
worked.”
Vying for national awards
Two members of the Pennisi sales team are
vying for national awards at the annual
Australasian Real Estate Convention to
be held in Brisbane in November. Andrew
Pennisi has been nominated for Sales
Controller of the Year and Kimberley
Cook for Sales Secretary of the Year. To be
nominated for these prestigious real estate
awards is an achievement in itself. Well
done!
Change smoke alarm
batteries
Readers are reminded that now is the
time to change batteries in smoke alarms.
The introduction and end of daylight
savings is the traditional time to carry out
this important safety measure. In recent
months, news reports have highlighted the
importance of having smoke alarms that
work – for they do save lives.
