AnnualReport2013 2014 - Opportunity Junction
AnnualReport20132014 Message from the Executive Director: We believe that everyone who is willing to work hard deserves an opportunity to succeed. Unfortunately, too many of our neighbors are still struggling to enter careers that will give them and their children a more secure future. Without our support, they are likely to cycle into and out of a series of low-wage jobs and to require government assistance to survive. 90% of Job Training and Placement Program graduates placed within 3 months of program completion This year, you collectively provided Opportunity Junction with more support – financial, time, and connections – than ever before. More net revenue from the Gala. More volunteers. More hiring partners. Together, we made a huge impact on the low-income job-seekers of Contra Costa: Job Placement Outcomes: This year, for job-seekers enrolled in the Job Training and Placement Program or in Career Development Services, we increased our unique initial placements from 73 to 110! The Job Training and Placement Program (JTPP) increased average starting hourly wages to $13.94. At 18 months postplacement, 87% of JTPP alumni were still employed, earning on average $16.09 an hour. 87% of JTPP alumni placed are still employed at 18 months Meanwhile, our Career Development Services team at SparkPoint Contra Costa in Bay Point refined its systems and approach this year, increasing unique initial placements by 100% over the previous year (from 27 in FY2012-13 to 55 in FY2013-14). I am deeply grateful to you for making this possible through your support. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty, making families and communities stronger. Opportunity Junction served 878 people this year Alissa Friedman Executive Director Headquarters: 3102 Delta Fair Blvd., Antioch, CA 94509 - SparkPoint office: 3105 Willow Pass Rd., Bay Point, CA 94565 OpportunityJunction.org or call us at (925) 776-1133 DONORS AND FUNDERS We offer our gratitude to the donors, funders, and contracting agencies who financially support our mission: fighting poverty by helping low-income Contra Costa residents gain the skills and confidence to get and keep jobs that support themselves and their families.
