5/6 June ► “Locomotion en fête” Festival
Join us to celebrate 60 years of the Colorale
"Locomotion en Fête”, organised by the ACPHT (Association pour la
Création du Parc d'Histoire Technique), is one of the biggest European
gatherings of vintage vehicles. 12 vehicle stages will be located around
the site showcasing automobiles, trucks, buses, motorbikes and bicycles,
military vehicles, agricultural machines, fire vehicles, police vehicles,
construction vehicles and fixed engines. Alongside all this there will be a
bring-and-buy fair. In addition to the static displays, enthusiasts will be
able to see dynamic demonstrations with military manoeuvres,
agricultural attractions and the concours d’élégance.
To bring the two days to a close, there will be a parade of vehicles along
the full length of the aerodrome’s runway.
Renault Histoire & Collection is partner of the event and will of course be
present. This year, all the focus will be on the anniversary of the Colorale,
with a collection of existing vehicles on display around a structure housing
an exhibition of posters and documents from the era.

MY PASSION
A collector from the Great North!
Hello!
My name is Andreas, I live in Sweden and I collect vintage Renaults. In my ”collection”, I have the following
Renaults:
Renault 4CV 1062 sport sunroof 1960
This is the very 4cv that my father owned! He bought it in February 1960 and sold it
in 1961. Since then, its history is only partially known, but I found it in poor condition
in 2007, hidden under a layer of snow and heavily rusted.

After redoing the body work, the inside is currently being repainted and the
different elements being put back into place. The seats come from a 1960 4cv. It
will be on the road for 2010! The photo was taken before the vehicle was repainted
'Mediterranean Blue code 465”.
Seeking parts …
This enthusiast also owns a Renault Primaquatre ACL2 with 2/3 seat cabriolet body, a Renault 4CV 1062
Convertible 1952, and a Renault 4CV 1062 sport Ferlec 1956. As he has problems finding parts in Sweden,
he’s launching a call for help with his various restoration projects.
If you are able to help him, please e-mail us your details to the following address:
contact.club@renault.com and we will send them on to him.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
30th anniversary of the RENAULT 5 TURBO
Focus Renault 5 Maxi Turbo “Philips” 1985
2010
The Maxi, the final version of the Renault 5 Turbo, had the thankless task of competing against cars with fourwheel drive. A mission it successfully accomplished!
As soon as it was presented in 1978, the Renault 5 Turbo had more in common with a sports car than a family
ride. With its 160hp and its central engine, its true potential was revealed in the competition versions whose list
of trophies is as long as your arm.
The “Maxi” was the last version of this bag of tricks. When the highly permissive “groupe B” came out in 1983,
it found itself up against vehicles with four-wheel drive - something the R5 Turbo never benefited from – and
competition was very stiff. So, the team at Renault Sport set to work. They overhauled the aerodynamics of the
square body, modifying spoilers and air intake, and making use of carbon which was lighter. The bodywork
was made more rigid, the suspension revised, and the mechanics were also boosted. The result was 350 hp
for what was to become the fastest two-wheel drive in rally. And which also showed a thing or two to the fourwheel drives, coming away with some great victories such as the Tour of Corsica and the Tour de France, in
the expert hands of Jean Ragnotti.
Engine: 4 in-line cylinders, 1,527 cm3, 350 hp, turbo compressor
Transmission: rear – 5 gearbox + MA
Brakes: ventilated brake discs on all four wheels
Dimensions: length 3.70 m; width 1.77 m - weight 905 kg
Top speed: 180 to 223 kph depending on final drive ratio

60th anniversary of the RENAULT COLORALE
Focus Colorale Savane
"A Colorale can go anywhere. A Colorale withstands anything". Colorale’s colonial
vocation gave it the means that enabled countless expeditions in the 1950s.
In most cases these expeditions, which generally took place in Africa and America
were accomplished with support from the “Régie Renault” (when Renault was state
owned). This satisfied a major commercial point by proving the excellence of
Renault’s products in the most arduous of terrains as well as demonstrating the
brilliance of French industry abroad. From the Méditerranée-Le Cap rally in 1951 to
the hazardous 30,000 km Tibesti-Congo-Ethiopia in 1952 and 1953, taking in the
Piste Impériale N°1 from Casablanca to Dakar (1952) , the Colorale Savane and Pick
Up proved their worth across the world.
Model shown: Colorale Savane was the star at the Marquette exhibition (named after the French priest who
discovered the Mississippi in the 17th century). On 19 October 1951, Jean Raspail, accompanied by five
scouts, embarked upon a 42,000km expedition from Terre de Feu (the southern-most point of America) to
Alaska. Renault, which was then state-owned, set up 8 spare part depots along the route, and 1,500kg of
equipment were transported by the two Colorale Savane and Pick-up. On 7 May 1952, the two vehicles

entered Fairbanks (Alaska) after having crossed 17 countries, including Patagonia, the Andes and the
Atacama desert, thus accomplishing the first ever Transamerica link.
Model year: 1951 (type R2090)
Engine: Renault 4 cylinder – 2,383 cm3 - 60 hp
Gearbox: 4 forward gears + 1 reverse
Brakes: hydraulic drums on all four wheels
Dimensions: Length 4.35 m - Width 1.82 m - Weight 1,560 kg
Speed: 100 kph
