No matter what vocation any of us have chosen, our first calling as Seventh-day Adventist Christians is to
be disciples of Jesus. Our second calling is to make disciples by seeking to meet the physical and spiritual
needs of those around us. comm(UNITY) is three days set aside for just that purpose. We’re so pleased you’ve
decided to join us in seeking to make a difference in your community and to answer God’s call on your life to
grow deeper with Jesus and make other disciples. Our prayer is that you are able to grow in your walk with

HEALTH — GRUNDY REVERSING DIABETES
Mabel Wood Hall - Ackerman Auditorium
Speakers: Stephen and Karen Wickham
The Wickhams have produced a reversing diabetes seminar and conducted numerous
programs in their community and beyond. They have received multiple awards, most
recently the 2015 Rural Health Association of Tennessee’s Merit Award. They have also
conducted numerous events for health professionals teaching them how to conduct the
seminar in their communities. They give credit for the success of the program to the Lord and
also point out that it meets a need in the community, has a very strong scientific basis, and is the Adventist
health message.
This seminar is not a training to conduct seminars. Instead, it is designed for anyone who wants to learn how
to live a lifestyle that will prevent or even reverse diabetes.

FAMILY LIFE — HEALING RELATIONAL BLIND SPOTS
Collegedale Church - Upper Level Seminar Room
Speaker: Brian Burgess
Brian Burgess was born and raised in a single-parent home in Upstate, N.Y., and began
attending a Seventh-day Adventist church when he was 11 years old. Years later, he came
to realize that this was a great blessing to his life as a fatherless child and accepted Jesus
as his Savior. As an Adventist pastor for more than 23 years, Brian has developed a special
concern in emotional and spiritual health, taking serious the biblical counsel “to be of sound
mind.” He is married to his lovely wife of 21 years, Janice. They have two children, Joshua and Angelina. He
holds degrees from Atlantic Union College, Boston University, and Andrews University. Brian currently serves
as the pastor of the Apison Church in Tennessee and has given seminars on Revelation, depression recovery,
DivorceCare, GriefShare, How We Love, and biblical conflict resolution.
