We were founded in 1994. We opened our first recovery house in 1995 thanks to the generosity of several anonymous and public donors. Today, we have one home for women and four for men. Serenity House Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. The elements of our program are based entirely on the principles, practice, and theory of 12-step recovery as presented by the time tested, experience proven, process that became the model for all 12step programs. All Serenity House facilities and all our resources are dedicated to the concept that, with the help of other recovering people, men and women can achieve lasting sobriety with a quality of life they never imagined possible. Sick and tired of being sick and tired? Men's House #1 Sharing grounds with the office and our meeting and dining facility, this 14-bed home normally houses men whose recovery is in the beginner stage. This quiet home offers spacious common areas. It is ideally suited for the new resident who needs to be centered and supported in recovery. Men's House #2 This 11-bed facility is situated on 7 beautifully landscaped acres. The grounds feature a pond, a gazebo large enough for small meetings, a playground for visiting families, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. This property is utilized for outdoor events. Inside, a warm fireplace in the living area makes it an ideal spot for small meetings and fellowship. Serenity House Inc. provides transitional living (recovery homes) for those men and women who have made the vital decision to become free from the bondage of alcohol and/or drugs. Our highly structured environment and our programs are designed to facilitate a spiritual transformation that will enable our residents to lead a happy, useful, and productive life, free from alcohol or drugs. If you honestly feel you have a problem with alcohol or drugs; if you are willing to actively participate in your recovery; and, if you are open minded about the nature of the help offered, we can help you help yourself. Women's House This old Victorian home offers a convenient, safe, and comfortable setting for up to 12 recovering women. It features beautiful common areas, cozy dorm rooms, and a corner lot with loads of flowers. Downtown Auburn, a great public library, shops, and suitable employment opportunities are all within walking distance. A full-time manager oversees the security and recovery of women from beginner to advanced stage. The Barn Affectionately known as "The Barn", this former pole barn is our meeting and dining facility. A fully equipped professional kitchen is used to prepare weekday evening meals for Men's Houses #1 and #2. With seating for 100 plus guests, this facility is used for large meetings and indoor events hosted by Serenity House and several community agencies/ groups. It includes a comfortable fellowship area surrounding a warm fireplace.
