Skiing off-piste and touring is a different experience to bygone days. We no longer use long thin skis with rear entry boots and now have flotation and rockered tips which allow greater movement. We also have a new name to call our sport – Freeride. There is no clear definition of this term but to us it simply means freedom to explore the mountains on skis or boards in the style that suits you best. For 2015 we continue to improve our programme, with new venues and skis which are set to make this the most exciting programme to date. Our courses are divided into 3 levels: Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced making it simple for you to select the right course. Our skiing staff bring passion, knowledge and expertise to every course and work hard to tailor your experience. We have forged a new partnership with leading ski manufacturer, Black Crows, and our staff have chosen to use their skis this winter. All of the courses are highly practical and give participants lots of ideas, and a useful set of resources for use in their own sessions. Biathlon is traditionally a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. It’s a unique combination of strength, physical fitness and endurance, with the skill, finesse and millimetre precision needed in rifle shooting. In the UK due to the lack of year round snow, snow skiing is replaced with roller skiing, enabling athletes to train all year round in warmer conditions. Glenmore Lodge has the UK’s only dedicated biathlon training facility with a strength and conditioning gym, a 50m range and 1.4 km of roller-ski track covering a range of gradients. Our Teaching Orienteering courses are extremely popular with teachers and youth leaders and require no prior knowledge. The UKCC courses lead to formal qualifications and require participants to show evidence of competence at orienteering. Teaching Orienteering (Part 2) - 1 day Develop knowledge of orienteering to cover techniques used in more complex areas; learn more techniques, games and exercises to develop those skills in young people. UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Orienteering Training - 3 days The Level 2 Coach is qualified to prepare a series of progressive coaching sessions, helping athletes to develop their skills up to TD5.
