FLAT TERRAIN
CHOICE OF DISTANCES
41st Hancock
Horizontal
Hundred
The Hancock Hundred is well known for its horizontal terrain.
This year’s tour will uphold that tradition. Again, the biggest
“hill” on the route will be an interstate overpass.
We offer you a choice of four distances with routes of 20, 40,
62 and 100 miles. The 20 mile route will have an R&R (rest
and refreshment) stop, and all others will have a morning and
afternoon R&R stop plus a lunch stop.
WELL-MARKED ROUTE & DETAILED MAP
The HHH prides itself on redundant route marking. You will
find arrows at every intersection well in advance of every turn.
Turn-around arrows indicate that you have missed the turn.
Every rider will receive a detailed map of the route showing
every intersection, mileage and rest stops.
SMOOTH ROADS
NO MAIL-IN REGISTRATIONS WILL BE
ACCEPTED AFTER AUGUST 31

7:30 A.M., Rain or Shine
at The UF Koehler Recreation Center
1250 N. Main St., Findlay, OH
The HANCOCK HORIZONTAL HUNDRED is a
major bicycling event. From the late 1970s
when the HHH was the largest single-day
Century tour in America until now, the HHH
has maintained its size and quality. The
exceptionally smooth, lightly-traveled roads
of the “Old Mill Stream” countryside, and the
outstanding organization by the Hancock
Handlebars make this tour a fine example of
everything a tour should be (except hilly).
Distances of 20, 40, 62 and 100 miles will be
available.
The county and township roads in Hancock County are a
cyclist’s dream. The pavement is smooth and well maintained and you will find very little traffic.
ROUTE OPEN
The route will open at 7:00 A.M. We suggest those wishing
to try for time should depart BEFORE the majority, but it is up
to you to keep track of your time. Please refer to the map for
rest stop hours and realize that if you leave too early, the
rest/lunch stops may not be open. For those of you who prefer to start AFTER the mass start, please be aware of the
closing times of the refreshment and lunch stops. We suggest that only well-conditioned riders should start after 8:30
A.M. All riders must be off the route by 6:00 P.M.
CHRIS CAKES BREAKFAST
For your fun and convenience, we will have a Chris Cakes
"pancakes with attitude" breakfast available. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, & juice. Step back from the grill and have
your breakfast flipped right to your plate! Please purchase breakfast tickets in advance. Breakfast will be served from 6:15 am to
8:15 am on ride day.
LUNCH STOP
Lunch will be served to REGISTERED RIDERS from 10:00
am until 2:00 pm at about the 50-mile point on the 62 and 100
mile routes and at the 20 mile point on the 40 mile route.
Lunch cost is included in the registration fee, but you must be
wearing your wrist band!
REFRESHMENT STOPS
Drinks and snacks will be furnished at scheduled times in
mid-morning and mid-afternoon to all registered riders with
proper identification. Other refreshments may be purchased from the few commercial establishments in villages
we pass through.
WEATHER
EMBROIDERED PATCH
HHH Patch: The first 1000 registered riders will receive a
multi-colored HHH patch. HHH patches from previous years
will also be available for purchase.
September in Ohio is usually delightful, with normal highs in the
70s and lows in the 50s. Probability of rain is slight. But weather is unpredictable. Early morning temperatures could dip into
the 30s and if it does rain, riders who are not prepared could
risk hypothermia. Bring rain and cool weather clothes.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
An ice cream social will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Saturday evening and after your ride Sunday from 1 pm to 4
pm at The Koehler Center. Enjoy several varieties of locally
made Dietsch Bros. ice cream and the camaraderie of other
bicyclists.
HELMETS REQUIRED
For your own safety, we REQUIRE that you wear a helmet
while riding on this bicycle tour. Please take responsibility
to maintain your brain.
CAMPING
Local camping available.
- HOST HOTEL
Rates for Hancock Handlebars Bicycle Club are $68.00 for a
room with 2 queen beds or 1 king bed and $88.00 for a two
room suite! For reservations, call 800-DRURY-INN and ask
for the “Hancock Handlebars Bicycle Club rate” or go to
https://wwws.druryhotels.com/Reservations.aspx?Property=
0137&CorpID=309931.
At Drury Hotels, the extras aren’t extra! Wake up to a FREE
hot breakfast buffet and wind down your day with FREE
evening beverages and snacks. Take advantage of our fitness room and indoor/outdoor pool and whirlpool as well as
the many other amenities that make Drury your home away
from home. There will be a “Welcome Center” room for riders
where complimentary beverages and vegetable trays will be
available -- a good place to meet other riders.
SAG SERVICE
SHOWERS
CONTACT FOR MORE INFORMATION
Sag wagons will patrol the route for those riders whose
need is justifiable. First attention will go to those whose
bicycles have had an irreparable breakdown. Last
attention will go to riders who simply tire. As on other
major tours, each rider is his own mechanic. Sag
wagons will not provide mechanical service. Some
may have limited spare parts. The best “trouble precautions” are ones only you can provide by having both
your bike and yourself in condition for a long ride. Sag
wagon service CANNOT be assured if you start
after 8:30 A.M.
The locker room showers of The UF Kooehler Center may
be used to freshen up Sunday after the ride. Towels will
be available for a nominal laundry charge.

T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS
Heavyweight T-shirts and sweatshirts will be available by
pre-registration only. They will feature a multi-colored
design and are available in the sizes S through XXXXLarge. These sizes are indicated on the application form.
Due to the lead-time needed to silk screen the shirts, all
orders must be received by AUGUST 31.
EASY ACCESS AND ACCOMMODATIONS
Registration and the start/finish is at The Koehler
Center, 1250 N. Main St., Findlay, OH. See the map
included for adjacent Motel locations within reasonable
cycling distance. Test space or indoor floor (10:00 pm
close) sleeping space available. See www.visitfindlay.com
for more camping and Motel information.
Since extremely light traffic is one of the reasons
many ride the Hancock Hundred, CLUB and PRIVATE SAG WAGONS are encouraged to stay off the
route and leap-frog the route to pre-arranged rendezvous points.

the ride by picking up your registration packet the night
before from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at The UF Koehler

some informal fellowship. Packet pick-up Sunday
starts at 6:30 A.M. and closes at 9:00 A.M. sharp.
