Whether you need a single piece of crown molding or a multi-stack arrangement, KraftMaid has what you need to create a signature look. Remember to consider the size of the room and the cabinetry in it when designing stacked molding. A room with stacked cabinetry can comfortably accommodate a larger molding stack without overwhelming the space. Remember that nearly 100 molding stacks are available in KraftMaid’s 20-20 Design Catalog. Save time by adding them to your design with the click of a button. Under-cabinet molding (LCVLR8) adds a beautiful finishing touch to the bottom edge of wall cabinets. It’s also a great way to easily conceal under-cabinet task lighting. Above-cabinet molding (LSTR8, SCVCS8, LFDM8) adds decorative detail to the top edge of wall cabinets to personalize the look of the space. Go to pages 146-147 to find examples of molding stacks available in KraftMaid’s 20-20 Design Catalog. 24 | Classically Traditional 25 CLASSICALLY TRADITIONAL Compelling Color Feature treasured keepsakes or fine art in your home with a lovely Golden Lager backdrop. The amount of grain will vary by species and finish. Oak is an open or coarse grain wood. The grain will “telegraph” or visibly show through the stain. Birch and Maple are closed or fine grain woods. Some “telegraphing” will occur, though the effect will be subtle. natural beauty of wood. This normal movement may cause hairline cracks in the finish surface at the joints and is considered a normal characteristic of semi-opaque or painted finishes. This will not be considered a reason for product replacement. Oak F I N I S H T E R M I N O L O GY End Grain Mineral Streaks End grain surfaces and softer areas of the wood may accept more stain and often appear darker than other surfaces. This is a natural reaction when finishing wood products and potential variances cannot be controlled. In nature, mineral deposits may form in the wood as the tree extracts nutrients from the soil. Common in many wood types, these mineral deposits cause blackish-blue streaks in the grain. When a finish is applied to mineral streaks, it may appear lighter or darker than other areas of your cabinetry. Joint Lines Distressing Since wood is in a constant state of expansion and contraction, visible lines are normal at the joints on the cabinet face frames and doors. This does not weaken the finish or the strength of the joint. Evoke the look of reclaimed wood that has been repurposed. The effects include edge rasping, worm holes, cow tail, edge burnishing, softened corners, random industrial distressing and a Suede topcoat.
