Theatre owners are committed to offering all theatregoers the highest standards of service and venues are improving access all the time. The information in this Guide is supplemented by our website www.theatre-access.co.uk which is kept up to date with any changes. It also offers details of current and forthcoming shows and assisted performances. We should like to thank the following people and organisations for their help and support throughout the production of the guide: Arts Council England, Brian Vickers and Fred Williams at Artsline and the managers and staff of the theatres included in the guide for giving us their time and assistance in compiling the information. Copies are available in large print, Braille and on tape. Please ring 020 7557 6713 to obtain a free copy. 4 General Advice Booking in advance and informing the theatre of your requirements is helpful in ensuring that your visit runs as smoothly as possible. For example, let the box office know if you are a wheelchair user, as arrangements such as removing seats or positioning ramps are made beforehand. It is also useful to indicate what type of chair you use (i.e. manual or battery powered). Some theatres offer transfer seating for those who can transfer from their chair. Spaces for wheelchairs are usually on the end of a row, so it is possible to sit next to non-disabled companions unless otherwise indicated. Likewise, if you are bringing a guide dog it is best to inform the box office. Guide dogs are welcomed at all theatres although they are not always allowed into the auditorium. Where this is the case, staff are happy to look after them during the performance. Ushers are generally available to help theatregoers to their seats and assist at the interval. In most cases, due to health and safety regulations, they are unable to lift. During the interval, in most venues, staff will bring drinks to disabled customers in the auditorium. Theatre bars are all over 1m high unless otherwise indicated. If you would like to see a full seating plan of the theatre you can use the Seating Plan Faxback service. Dial the number listed in each individual category from the handset of your fax machine, using on-hook dialling, polling or manual receive modes. Calls cost £1.50 a minute (at all times). Helpline 0870 9090110 If you require sign language interpreted, captioned or audio-described performances, details can be obtained from the box office or from our website www.theatre-access.co.uk 5 Adelphi The Strand, WC2E 7NA KIN G ST RE ET H IG RE NT ET VE N RE CO RDE ST T EE K GA C BU TR TO RL S S I E V TA ER ET EX MP TO N BE DF D VO SA CA ET PL.
