Reflect and Enjoy the
History of Twin Oaks &
Twin Oaks II
In their early twenties,
Muriel Hayes and her
twin sister, Audrey,
were hired by Howard
Clough, Clough Cattle
Ranch in Los Molinos,
CA, to run cattle. There
they discovered the
fascination of AustraliMuriel Hayes , Kathy Bridges and Twin
an Shepherds. Since
Oaks II Hopi hikwsi
then, Muriel & Audrey
Hayes are recognized as one of the key founders of this incredible
breed. In 1956, they initiated Twin Oaks kennel, devoting nearly
sixty years as one of the top priority breeders and trainers in the
United States. Today, Muriel continues breeding working Australian Shepherds and her calling has been followed by their family,
including Sherry Baker, third generation trainer and stockdog handler who has earned recognition as the winningest handler in
Stockdog Finals history. http://www.workingaussiesource.com/

In 2010, Twin Oaks has been the breeder of two ASCA Supreme
Champion Stockdogs, one Supreme Versatility Champion, 25 Hall of
Fame sires and dams, 26 Stockdog Finals Championships and 52
Working Trial Champions (more than the next two kennels combined). Twin Oaks was honored as ASCA’s Hall of Fame Kennel #6
in 1991. When Muriel moved to Washington in the early ‘90s, she
started Twin Oaks II, which has become Hall of Fame Kennel #60.

“The most consistent, natural stockdogs today, trace their
ancestry to a few predominate foundation bloodlines. Las
Rocosa, Twin Oaks and Woods, are the fountainhead of
bloodstock that provided the base for the modern working
Aussie.”

Learn More About Australian Shepherds:
Aussies were developed to herd livestock. Due to their high intelligence, trainability and eagerness to please, they are also used
for Search & Rescue, therapy and hearing ear dogs, drug detection, competitive sports and family companion dogs. Aussies are
“people” dogs and have an intense desire to be near their owners. As such, these dogs are happiest with you. Aussies are reserved with strangers and can be protective of family members and as such, early training is necessary for your dog to develop
appropriate social behaviors in urban settings. Aussies require vigorous daily exercise. Basic obedience training is an essential
part of responsible dog ownership — lots of praise and/or treats will work well for most Aussies. If you are interested in developing your dog’s herding instincts, you need to provide livestock on a regular basis and participate in clinics with stockdog trainers
to assist you and your dog.
At our home, Ken says, quite understandably, that our dog can understand everything he says. And by gosh, by golly, Kathy notes
that this is true. When we acquired Hopi, we thought we were going to get a dog to help out on the farm. Instead, our dog, Hopi,
is more like raising a young child .. without diapers, crying and toys. In addition to helping with the sheep and accompanying us
on farm chores, Hopi is truly a home companion. With her, she brings unending excitement and enthusiasm. Hopi and the sire of
these pups, Arrow, are precious gifts. These are the best quality and proven Australian Shepherds nationwide. For those seeking
an Aussie, we are honored to work with Muriel Hayes, one of the most respected breeders in the country, to offer these very
highly intelligent and devoted Australian Shepherds pups to the discriminating owner, breeder and trainer.
