Patients may be referred to the Partial Hospitalization Program following an acute inpatient stay as a “stepdown” or may be admitted directly from home when they may be experiencing increased psychological/ emotional distress and are finding it difficult to manage their life at work, school or home. The IOP meets the needs of individuals who require less than 24-hour care, but who need more comprehensive treatment than can reasonably be provided in a traditional outpatient setting. Montevista Hospital’s Intensive Outpatient Program is offered for patients who are no longer in acute crisis but who need further support to recover from an illness. The length of treatment is based upon the patient’s individual needs.
