By DPL patron Henry O. Thomas
Easter isn’t about candy and finding beautiful
painted up eggs. Or about a bunny hopping
down the bunny trail and all the made-up
tales. It’s about our Savior that was nailed to a
cross and endured so much pain. That I can explain or tell you why. He
did this for me that I could be forgiven of the sins I hath done;
and all this Love He has for me. What have I done to deserve
for my Lord that died for me? Easter is about the day of His
resurrection when His Father came for Him and rolled back
the stone where Jesus laid alone. Thank you God for what you
have done to send Your only Son. For I will always treasure this
in my soul and will never let it go. I will always believe in Your
Name and how that day came.

Grand Cane Council meeting
minutes: July 27, 1905.
Ordinance 28 read and adopted:
Be it ordained by the Mayor and
Board of Alderman of the Town of
Grand Cane, that in as much as yellow
fever has appeared in our State and
adjoining states, we do hereby establish and quarantine, against New
Orleans, Bunkie and all towns and
cities, that we have reason to believe
that yellow fever has existed in the last
thirty days.
No person or persons are allowed to
stop within the corporate limits within
the Town of Grand Cane from any of
these infected towns or cities, except
party or parties can show a certificate
from some health office satisfactory to
the officer. Be ordained that no person or persons luggage or personal
luggage may stop within the corporate
limits of the town of Grand Cane, nor
express that has not been fumigated.
Be it ordained that this ordinance goes
into effect at once. That the Marshall
is to meet each and every train and see
that this ordinance is complied with.

salvia, portulaca, purslane, melampodium and
others. Fertilize roses and other shrubs now.
Purchase roses in containers and plant this
month.
Warmer temperatures and active growth make
watering increasingly important if regular
rainfall does not occur. New plantings need
the most attention, since they are more vulnerable until they have a chance to grow a strong
root system. Fertilize lawns the last week in
March or early April using a lawn fertilizer or
weed and feed (fertilizer plus weed killer).

Sense the heartbreak of God over
mankind’s fall in the Garden of
Eden. Be amazed by a God who
refused to give up on His children
and instead opted to fight for the love of our
lives. Explore the depth of the meaning of the
Cross as a symbol of evil where Jesus breathed
His last breath. Behold the unimaginable passion
and love that drove Christ to the Cross to take
our sin upon Himself. Glimpse God’s master
strategy that used the diabolical plot to crucify
Jesus to set into motion His unstoppable plan to
redeem and restore us. Hear and experience the
ultimate result of Jesus’ death and resurrection —
the outpouring of the Holy Spirit with power!
