Headband materials Hana-Ami Flower Loom (Small square loom) ART. NO. 3146 Soft Touch Crochet Hook (Size F) ART. NO. 1006/F Variegated Worsted Weight Yarn Coordinating Color Worsted Weight Yarn Make one small square flower according to the directions in the loom package. Measure this completed flower. Determine the size of headband you want and divide the length by the measurement of the flower; this will be the answer as to how many flowers to make. Ed g i n g Round: Using the coordinating color sc in the first flower loop to the left of the long corner loop, sc in the same place to anchor yarn, ch 2, sc and ch2 over the next two loops, *sc 3 in corner loop, ch2, sc, ch2 over the next three loops*. Repeat from * to * around, ending with ch2, 3sc in corner loop, slip st in first sc. Tie off and weave in yarn. Work each flower square as above. NO. 1006/F Make one medium round flower according to the directions in loom package. Measure this completed flower. Measure your waist; divide the measurement by the size of the flower to determine how many flowers to make to fit your measurement. Make the number of flowers you need for your belt. Ed g in g R o u n d : Insert the crochet hook through two flower loops at the same time, ch 1 to anchor the yarn, sc in the first two flower loops, *ch 4, sc in next 2 flower loops*. Repeat around the flower from * to *, join with slip stitch in first sc through last stitch and tie off, cut thread and weave end in to hide. Blocking is optional on the belt and is done after joining. M a k e T ie s: To make ties for the belt chain double the desired tie length. Cut yarn and tie off. Fold in half and attach to center of end square. abbreviation s Make Tassel (optional): Cut a piece of cardboard ½ the desired length of tassel. Wrap yarn around cardboard to desired thickness of tassel. Cut at one end. sc - single crochet dc - double crochet ch - chain st - stitch R o u n d 2 : ch 3 (counts as dc) in joining st. Make a dc in each sc to corner stitch. * In corner stitch make dc in first of 3 sc, dc, ch 3, dc in second stitch, dc in third corner st, dc in each of remaining sc to the next corner flower loop and repeat from * to *. Joining at top of ch 3. B l o cki ng: Gently pin the completed squares to a blocking board (or ironing board). Hold the iron about 1"-2" above the squares and steam. Let squares dry before removing the pins. Note: It's helpful to have several squares pinned at the same time to make sure they block to the same size. J o i n i n g : With right sides together join squares on one side using a tapestry needle and a whip stitch. Be sure to hide the loose threads when finished. Fi n i s h i ng Opt i on: Add fringe. J o ining : Repeat edging round on second flower until last four flower loops, with wrong sides together insert hook through sc on top of loops on both flowers, sc, ch4, join again through last two flower loops on both flowers sc and complete round as above. With a 6 “ piece of yarn tie yarn in center. Fold over, wrap and tie with a second 6” piece of yarn. Attach to end of tie and bury yarn end into the tassel. Trim tassel ends. Making the tassel:
