Advances in ™ Dermatologic Surgery 31st Annual Meeting Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons November 2–4, 2012 The Breakers One South County Road Palm Beach, Florida Jointly sponsored by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons 11891 Magnolia Falls Dr. Jacksonville, FL 32258 Advances in ™ Dermatologic Surgery FSDS President’s Message It is with great pleasure that I invite you to attend the 31st Annual Meeting of the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, “Advances in Dermatologic Surgery.” Our dedicated Program Chairmen, Keyvan Nouri, MD and Terrence A. Cronin, Jr., MD, have worked arduously to assemble an outstanding faculty of expert international, national, and distinguished Florida colleagues who will share their knowledge in a comfortable, relaxed environment at the world-famous Breakers resort. No matter what interests you may have in dermatologic surgery there is something in our program for you. Presentations ranging from excisions, Mohs surgery, and reconstruction to fillers, lasers, hair transplantation, etc. will focus on practical pearls you can use in your practice. Virtually no aspect of dermatologic surgery will go unaddressed. Our Annual Business Meeting will be held Saturday over lunch. In addition to our ambitious scientific program, we have been working with the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (FSDDS), the Florida Medical Association, and others to educate relevant parties about issues of great concern to dermatologic surgeons. These issues range from Mohs surgery and skin substitutes to nurses obtaining the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and thus becoming “doctors”. We are also changing the status of the FSDS from a 501(c)6 to a 501(c)3 to be consistent with our Articles of Incorporation filed with the State of Florida. Dr. Lifshitz, President of the FSDDS, will update us on our sister society’s activities and we will conclude with a presentation on what to look for in managed care contracts. You will not want to miss the Saturday night festivities. In addition to dinner and dancing, a magician will entertain and dazzle us. Children ages 4 thru 12 years old will have their own party which will include dinner and entertainment. This is a wonderful opportunity to relax, mingle with old friends and make new ones. As you can see, this meeting promises to be a highly informative, exciting event. We continue to strive to update our membership on the latest innovations and techniques in dermatologic surgery that can be utilized when you return to your practice. I strongly encourage you to make plans to attend. See you at the Breakers!
