Day one (Destination: Campingplatz Herbolzheim 420 miles,
6 hours 30 minutes)
The Great Escape tour starts from Calais and heads South East
along the A26 towards Reims, before turning Eastwards on
the A4 to Strasbourg, then crossing the border into Germany.

Day two (at your leisure)
A ride into the Black Forrest embodies everything that you
might expect of a German picture book holiday: Black Forest
maids, Black Forest farms, Black Forest gateau, Bollenhut hats
& cuckoo clocks. A trip up the Schauinsland Cable car (near
Freiburg) is a real treat and offers a breath of alpine air and
stunning panoramic views from the 1300m peak.

Day three (Destination: Camping Weekend, 340 miles,
6 hours)
Riding South towards Basel, this dramatic leg of your journey
will take you through the mountain passes of the Swiss Alps
and across the Italian border towards Lake Garda.
Day four, five and six (at your leisure)
Based at the foot of the majestic Dolomites, Lake Garda is the
most popular of all the Italian lakes. Take time to visit ancient
Roman ruins, stroll around the old-world fishing villages and
eat pizza at one of the many lakeside restaurants. A ride out
to Verona, to visit the ancient Roman amphitheatre, is only
1 hour away.
Day seven (Destination: Holiday Marina 335 miles,
5 hours 40 minutes)
Time to head to the coast and ride across Northern Italy
towards the sunshine and glamour of the French Riviera.
Today’s journey will follow the A21 to Tortona then

South-West on the A10, hugging the Mediterranean coast
all the way, past Nice and on towards Port Grimaud.
Day eight, nine and ten (at your leisure)
The winding roads of this region are made for riding.
Day trips to Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez are all popular
but getting off the beaten tracks and heading inland to
the lavender fields around Grasse are equally rewarding.
This region is also renowned for its medieval hilltop
villages. The Rue des Templers in Grimaud leads to a
house of the Knights of Templar and a lovely 11th century
church (the views from the castle ruins are superb).

Day eleven (Destination: Château de l’Epervière
334 miles, 5 hours 30 minutes)
On the road again. This time bearing North up the A7,
for your overnight destination close to Gigny-sur-Saône.
Only 16kn from the main Autoroute and set in the grounds
of a 16th century château, this attractive parc is ideal for
an overnight stop.
Day twelve (Destination: La Croix du Vieux Pont,
285 miles, 4 hours 50 minutes)
On this penultimate leg of your mammoth journey, you’ll
move up the A31 towards Berny Riviere, the sleepy town
on the river Aisne, and your home for the last two nights of
your trip.
Day thirteen and fourteen (at your leisure)
Situated in the countryside, North of Paris, this fabulous
riverside parc, by the Compiègne Forest, is an ideal place
to stopover for a couple of nights before heading home.
The parc offers coach trips into Paris or ride down the
Champs-Élysées (only 1 hour 40 minutes away) yourself.
War graves, ancient castles and rolling-hill countryside
are all within minutes of this excellent resort.
Day fifteen (Destination: Calais, 150 miles,
2 hours 40 minutes)
Time to pack up and start heading home for the shortest
leg of your trip and a return to Blighty.
