Volunteer, Work Experience Students, & Staff Christmas Luncheon-December 12, 2012
Starting in November 2012, we have had the opportunity to enjoy working with “Work Experience
Students” as well as our regular volunteers. The
students compiled hospital kits, collected valuable
computer data, stuffed receipts into envelopes, newsletter mail-outs, and much more. To thank the students
for their work we had a Christmas Luncheon and
invited their Work Experience Facilitator, our regular
volunteers, and a few guests. Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was especially nice to chat with the
students and to get to know them on a personal basis.
Some students have returned to complete
another contract.
Thank you, as we are grateful!
Nate-helping with the
newsletter mail-outs.
Courtenay-Our regular
volunteer photocopying.
David compiling data.
Students, volunteers
and guests enjoying
the luncheon.

Busy!!! That’s what we are here
for. Seven Secondary School
Students have been volunteering
their time to make hospital kits,
prepare databases, test and clean
equipment and other such duties.
153 hours were volunteered.
Two of the students asked to
come back for the next semester
Sharon Perry which goes until mid-March. We
have two new student volunteers
as well. The program is part of WEX 12 which
includes either Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality, Human Services or Bridges.
It is a requirement for their graduation. We are so
thankful they chose to volunteer with us. We
thank Kathy, the Work Experience Facilitator, for
making this all happen. It’s a win-win situation.

Leslee Scott in Kelowna has been very busy attending
to requests that have come in through the Resource

They enjoyed her talk and invited her back.
As for Speech Reading, courses were held in Kelowna,
Salt Spring Island, Victoria, and Abbotsford. Plans
are being made for courses in Nanaimo, Kamloops and

184 Hospital Kits are complete, with many more in the
production stage. Please promote them in your community. There is no charge for the kits. We would
like to see them available in the hospitals and care
