Tournament Format
The tournament format is a scramble, with team
handicaps based on the formula used for the Oldsmobile
Scramble. All players will hit all shots, then select the
best shot from which to hit the next one. The tee shot
from every player must be used at least two times
during the tournament.
Handicapping the Teams
Each team must have a minimum modified handicap
total of 35 strokes, calculated as follows:
Player A - 100% of handicap
Player B - 90% of handicap
Player C - 80% of handicap
Player D - 70% of handicap
Example: If players have respective handicaps of 10,
13, 18, and 20, the modified handicaps would be
figured as follows: 10 X 100% = 10; 13 X 90% = 11;
18 X 80% = 14; and 20 X 70% = 14. The total team
handicap = 49, so the team qualifies for entry. The
maximum handicap is 24 for men and 30 for women.
For gross prizes, this modified team handicap is only
for entry purposes. Gross prizes will be awarded
on actual team score. For net prizes, the modified
handicap is the base, then a team handicap adjustment is assigned, based on the Oldsmobile Scramble
chart, commonly used for this type of tournament.
Players without an established handicap, must
provide their average 18-hole score and attach
several scorecards to their entry form or Call Jody
at 563-1000 for more info.
The $495 fee includes: Greens Fees, Shared Cart Rental,
Lunch, Soda from Empire State Coca-Cola,
and Post Tourney Feast for 4 people.
Ties
Ties will be resolved by matching cards beginning with
teams' gross scores on the back 9. If ties remain, teams'
gross scores on the final 6 holes will be the deciding
factor. If ties still remain, teams' gross scores on the final
3 holes will decide the tournament. This rule is in
accordance with USGA golfing regulations.
Weather
The Tourney will be held Rain or Shine. If Golf Course
Officials Cancel or Shorten the Tourney due to inclement
weather, the Golf Tourney Committee will determine the
basis for which prizes will be awarded..
