Once settled there, John insisted that a housewarming gift swap was in order. CeeCee bought him grilling tools, while John compiled a scrapbook of their lives together. On the back, a caption read,“Will you marry me?” “I said ‘Yes!’” CeeCee remembers.“I think deep down we—and our families—just always knew.” As they brainstormed ceremony locales, Charleston soon rose to the forefront.“We knew we wanted a destination wedding in the South,” CeeCee explains.“In college, John and I took a trip to Charleston for a Fourth of July weekend, and it just always stuck with us.” The couple entrusted Candice Hilse of YOJ Events to bring a lively vibe to Lowndes Grove Plantation. “Vibrant patterns and colors and an historic plantation—right up my alley,” says CeeCee.
