In this manual you will find the information and useful suggestions to use your product with the maximum safety and efficiency. 1. INTRODUCTION Attention: We recommend carefully reading this manual which describes all of the necessary phases for the perfect operation of the thermostove. Warning: The installation and operation standards contained in this manual may differ from the local standards in force. In this case, always respect the instructions of the local competent authorities. The drawings in this manual are indicative and not in scale. Information: The used packaging provides good protection against damages due to transport. In any case, check the stove upon delivery; in case of any visible damages, immediately inform your Pasqualicchio dealer. Description of user and maintenance manual Pasqualicchio, with this user and maintenance manual, wants to provide the user with all information concerning the safe use of the stove, in order to avoid damaging property or people or parts of the stove itself. Please carefully read this manual before use and any intervention on the product. 1.1 WARNINGS The Pasqualicchio stoves are built with particular attention to each individual component, in order to protect both the user and the installer from any accidents. Authorised personnel is recommended to pay particular attention to electrical connections after each intervention made on the product. Installation must be carried out by authorised personnel, who must issue the purchaser with a declaration of conformity for the system, undertaking full liability for the final installation and consequent good operation of the installed product. It is necessary to consider all national, regional, provincial and municipal laws and regulations in the country of installation of the appliance. Pasqualicchio S.R.L. will not be liable in case of failure to comply with these precautions. This instruction manual constitutes an integral part of the product: make sure it always accompanies the stove, even if transferred to another owner or user or to another place. In case of damage or loss, request a copy from the technical service. This stove must only be used for the purposes for which it was designed. Do not use the appliance as incinerator or in any other way other than that for which it was conceived. Any manufacturer contractual liability and liability in tort is excluded for injuries to people, animals or damages to property, for installation, adjustment and maintenance errors and for improper uses. No other fuel except for pellet must be used. Do not use liquid fuels. After having removed the packaging, ascertain the integrity and completeness of the contents. All electrical components constituting the stove must only be replaced by an authorised technical ENGLISH 2 Il caldo ecologico assistance centre with original parts. The stove must be serviced at least once a year, and scheduled in time with the technical assistance service. Do not make any unauthorised modification to the appliance. For safety reasons, remember that: it is forbidden for children or unassisted disabled people to use the stove; contact with the stove if you are barefoot and with wet body parts is not recommended; it is forbidden to modify the safety or adjustment devices without the authorisation or indications of Pasqualicchio. When the stove is in operation it can reach very high temperatures to the touch, especially in its external surfaces: handle with care to avoid burns. The stove is designed to operate in all weather conditions; in case of particularly adverse conditions (wind, frost), safety systems may intervene switching off the stove. Should this occur, urgently contact the technical assistance service and, in any case, do not disable the safety systems. 1.2 Gratitude Dear Customer, in thanking you, we congratulate you for the excellent choice. Below is some advice that we would like to give, to get the most from the stove and fully enjoy all benefits it can and wants to give. INFORMATION ON SAFETY The stove must be installed and tested by qualified personnel and trained by the manufacturer. Please read this user and maintenance manual carefully before installing and commissioning the stove. If requiring clarification, contact your nearest Pasqualicchio dealer. ATTENTION • Prepare the place of installation of the stove according to local, national and European regulations. • The stove must only be fed with 6 mm quality pellets as described in the dedicated chapter. • Operation with traditional wood is not possible. • It is forbidden to use the stove as incinerator. FIRE HAZARD!!! • The installation, electrical connection, operation verification and maintenance must be performed by qualified and authorised personnel. • An incorrect installation or bad maintenance (not compliant with the information in this manual) may damage people or property. In this condition Pasqualicchio is relieved from any civil or criminal liability. • Complete connection of the discharge pipes (specific for pellet stoves, not aluminium) with the flue, before electrically connecting the stove. • The protective grid inside the pellet tank must never be removed. • There must be sufficient air exchange in the room of installation of the stove. • Never open the stove door during operation. FIRE HAZARD!!! • It is forbidden to operate the stove with the door open or the glass broken. FIRE HAZARD!!! • When the stove is in operation, the surfaces, the glass, the handle and the pipes overheat: during operation these parts can only be touched with adequate protections. • Do not ignite the stove without having first performed the daily inspection as described in this manual's "MAINTENANCE" chapter. ENGLISH 3 Il caldo ecologico • Do not dry linen on the stove. Any clothes rack and similar must be kept at due distance from the stove. FIRE HAZARD!!! • Scrupulously follow the maintenance schedule. • Do not switch-off the stove by disconnecting the mains electrical connection. • Do not clean the stove until the structure and ashes have completely cooled. • Carry out all operations with maximum safety and calm. • This appliance is not to be used by people (including children) with reduced mental or motor capacities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or trained on using the appliance by a person responsible for their safety • Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. • Provide a device for the direct connection to the mains that ensures disconnection from it with an opening distance of the contacts that allows complete disconnection in conditions of overvoltage category III, in compliance with the rules of installation. • The appliance is connected to the mains by means of a plug; this must be easily accessible with stove installed "Do not use the appliance as incinerator or in any other way other than that for which it was conceived." "No other fuel except for pellet must be used." "Do not use liquid fuels." "The appliance, especially the external surfaces, when in operation, it can reach high temperatures to the touch; handle with care to avoid burns" "Do not make any unauthorised modification to the appliance." "Use only original spare parts recommended by the manufacturer" 3. General features The stove must be placed inside living environments. As it is controlled by an electronic board, it allows a fully automatic and controlled combustion: the control unit adjusts the ignition phase, the 5 power levels and the switch-off phase, guaranteeing a safe operation. Most of the ash falls in the collection drawer through the basket used for the pellet combustion. Daily check the basket is clean: since not all pellets have high quality standards, it may leave residues difficult to remove. The glass is fitted with a special air circulation for self-cleaning: however, a light greyish patina on the glass cannot be avoided after a few hours of operation. As previously mentioned, the stove must be fed with 6 mm pellets, but may also operate with differently sized pellets: in this case, contact your Pasqualicchio dealer for technical advice. 3.1 Liability By delivering this manual, Pasqualicchio declines any liability, civil and criminal, for accidents due to the partial or total non-compliance with the instructions contained therein. Pasqualicchio declines any liability for improper use of the stove, incorrect use by the user, unauthorised changes and/or repairs, use of non-original spare parts. The manufacturer declines any direct or indirect civil or criminal liability due to: poor maintenance non-compliance with this manual's instructions non-compliant use with the safety directives installation non-compliant with the country's existing regulations installation by unqualified and untrained personnel changes and repairs not authorised by the manufacturer use of non-original spare parts exceptional events ENGLISH 4 Il caldo ecologico 3.2 Spare parts Only use original spare parts. Do not wait for components to wear out before replacing them. Replace a worn component before it is completely broken in order to prevent any accidents caused by the sudden failure of the components. Perform periodic maintenance checks as described in the dedicated chapter. 3.3 What are wood pellets? The pellet is composed of sawdust and wood chips produced in carpenters shops. The material used cannot contain any foreign substance such as glue, lacquer or synthetic substances. The timber is pressed through a die with holes: due to the high pressure, the sawdust heats activating the natural binders of the wood; in this way the pellet retains its shape even without adding artificial substances. The density of the wood pellet varies depending on the type of wood and can exceed 1.5-2 times that of natural wood. The cylindrical rods have a 6-10 mm diameter and a length varying between 10 and 50 mm. Their weight is equal to about 650 KG/m. Due to the low water content (8-10%), they have a high energy content. The DIN 51731 Standards define the quality of the pellets: Length Diameter Real weight Heating Value approx. 10 - 30 Residual humidity mm approx. 6 - 10 Ash mm approx. 650 Specific weight Kg/m³ approx. 4.9 kWh/Kg approx. 6 - 12 % <1.5% >1.0 Kg/dm³ The pellets must be transported and stored in dry places. Upon contact with humidity they swell, becoming useless: therefore, protect them against humidity both during transport and during storage. Pasqualicchio recommends a 6 mm pellet. If wanting to use a differently sized pellet, contact the assistance centre for the due adjustments of the stove. 3.4 How is the stove made This drawing shows the internal parts of a pellet stove. By filling the tank (7), the pellet is loaded in the brazier (3) through the load auger (1). Ignition occurs via the resistance (2) that heats the air coming from the opposite inlet (5), which in contact with the pellet allows the flame to develop. The discharge fumes are now diverted to the stainless steel exchanger (6) and, through the fumes intake duct (4), are discharged in flue via connection made with the fumes discharge (8). 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. pellet loading auger; resistance unit for ignition; Combustion brazier; Fumes passage duct Air inlet pipe; Stainless steel exchanger; Pellet hopper; fumes discharge pipe. 3.5 The combustion The combustion is nothing more than a chemical reaction where two reactants, called fuel and oxidising agent, combine to produce new substances. As a result of this reaction there is also a significant amount of heat (concept of operation of the pellet stoves). To facilitate the above expression, consider this practical ENGLISH 5 Il caldo ecologico diagram called "combustion triangle"; it consists in three elements that are necessary for the combustion reaction to take place. These three elements are: • fuel (Pellet) • oxidising agent (Oxygen in air) • source of ignition (Electric ignition resistance) The fuel and oxidising agent must be of appropriate proportions to ensure that combustion takes place within the so-called "flammability range". The reaction between fuel and oxidising agent is not spontaneous but takes place due to an external source of ignition. The flash point can be, for example, a source of heat or a spark. The flash point is the activation energy that is required by the molecules of reagents to start the reaction and must be supplied from the exterior (Electric ignition resistance). As a result, the energy released by the reaction makes it possible to sustain itself. 4. SAFETY DEVICES The stove is fitted with sophisticated safety systems that prevent the occurrence of damages to the stove and/or to the living environment in case of failure of one of the single parts or damage to the flue. However, upon the occurrence of a problem, the falling of the pellet is immediately interrupted and the switch-off phase is activated. The corresponding alarm appears on the display. Details are available in the alarm chapter. 5. POSITIONING, ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION 5.1. Working environment The positioning of the stove inside the living environment is crucial to be able to evenly heat the environment itself. Before deciding where to place the stove, consider that: • the stove must be installed on a floor with adequate load capacity. If the existing construction does not meet this requirement, appropriate measures must be taken (e.g. load distributing plate); • the combustion air cannot be drawn from a garage or space without ventilation or air recirculation, but from an open or outdoor space; • installation in the bedroom, bathrooms or shower is forbidden, and where there is already another heating appliance without independent air intake (fireplace, stove, etc.); • installation in an environment with explosive atmosphere is forbidden; • in case of wood floors, install a floor protective platform (glass or steel slab); • installation in a large room and in the centre of the house is preferable to ensure maximum circulation of heat; • connection to the current is recommended via an earth socket (if the provided cable is not long enough to reach the nearest socket, use a floor cord); • according to the installation standard and standard in force in the country, the stove must be installed in a place where air necessary for pellet combustion can flow (about 40m3/h must be available): the size of the environment must not be less than 30 m3. • The appliance installation must guarantee easy access to clean the appliance itself, the exhaust gas ducts and the flue. The stove must be installed and assembled by qualified personnel. The environment must be: • prepared at the environmental operating conditions • prepared with adequate smoke evacuation system • equipped with 230V 50Hz power supply (EN73-23) ENGLISH 6 Il caldo ecologico • equipped with external ventilation (minimum section of 100 cm2) • equipped with CE compliant earthing system The stove must be connected to SINGLE flue or vertical indoor or outdoor pipe in compliance with standards in force. • The fumes derive from the combustion of wood: therefore, they may leave halos if in contact with walls. • It is not compulsory to connect the stove's air inlet directly to the outside, but at least 50 m3/h of air must be guaranteed. • It is strictly forbidden to use an net at the end of the discharge pipe, as this may cause the stove to malfunction. • It is necessary to always use pipes and fittings with adequate silicone gaskets that ensure tightness of the smoke duct. • For in flue connection do not use more than 3 curves at 90° and no more than 2-3 m horizontally. • IMPORTANT! if the product is installed near flammable walls, it is compulsory to respect the minimum safety distances indicated on the label on the back of the product. If the product is installed near NON flammable products, no specific safety distances are required. 5.2 EXAMPLES OF INSTALLATION FIG.9 This type of installation (See Fig. 9) requires an insulated flue, as the entire smoke duct has been fitted outside the home. A "T" type connection with inspection cap has been mounted in the lower part of the flue. We recommend installing as first initial piece, a curve at 90°, as the ash would quickly obstruct the smoke passage, causing problems to the draught of the stove. RAIN PROTECTION insulated FLUE This type of installation (See Fig. 5) requires an insulated flue, as the entire smoke duct has been fitted inside the home. A "T" type connection with inspection cap has been mounted in the lower part of the flue. We recommend installing as first initial piece, a curve at 90°, as the ash would quickly obstruct the smoke passage, causing problems to the draught of the stove. ENGLISH 7 Il caldo ecologico This type of installation (See Fig. 10) does not require an insulated flue, as part of the smoke duct has been fitted inside the home and part of it inside the already existing flue. A "T" type connection with inspection cap has been mounted in the lower part of the stove. We recommend installing as first initial piece, a curve at 90°, as the ash would quickly obstruct the smoke passage, causing problems to the draught of the stove. Note the use of two curves at 45°, so as to allow the ash to fall inside the "T" connection with inspection. This type of installation (See Fig. 7) does not require an insulated flue for the section inside the home, while for the outdoor section, it is compulsory to use an insulated pipe. A ''T'' type connection with inspection cap has been mounted in the lower part of the flue inside the home. Another one has been mounted outdoor so that the section can be inspected. We recommend installing two curves at 90°, as the ash would quickly obstruct the smoke passage, causing problems to the draught of the stove. ENGLISH 8 Il caldo ecologico 5.3 Malfunctions related to draught defects of the flue or critical climatic conditions Among all weather and geographical factors influencing the operation of the flue (snow, rain, altitude asl, fog, etc..), wind is certainly the most decisive. In addition to the thermal depression induced by the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the flue, there is another type of depression: the dynamic pressure caused by the wind which influences the operation of the fireplace. THEREFORE, THE OPERATION OF THE PELLET STOVE IS SIGNIFICANTLY INFLUENCED BY THE POSITION AND CONFORMITY OF THE FLUE. PRECARIOUS CONDITIONS MAY ONLY BE RESOLVED WITH AN ADEQUATE SETTING OF THE STOVE BY PASQUALICCHIO AUTHORISED TECHNICIANS. 6. Control panel 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. While inside the Power SET menu it allows decreasing the work power of the stove from a maximum of 5 to a minimum of 1. • Work power/temperature increase The button inside the temperature SET menu allows increasing the temperature from a maximum of 40°C to a minimum of 7°C. While inside the Power SET menu it allows increasing the work power of the stove from a maximum of 5 to a minimum of 1. • ON/OFF Key Hold down for at least 2 seconds to ignite/switch-off the stove. • Remote control receiver Receiving sensor of commands given by remote control. ENGLISH 9 Il caldo ecologico • LED ALC The LED flashes in case of malfunction or alarm. • LED ALF The LED flashes in case of malfunction or alarm. • Chronothermostat LED Indicates that the automatic programming of the single and daily ignition is active. • Temperature ok LED Lights up when the set temperature is set. In this case, the display shows "Eco", alternating with the ambient temperature. • Pellet loading LED The LED flashes every time pellet is being loaded inside the stove • 7-segment LED display The display shows the different modes of operation of the stove, and the ambient temperature and work power set by the user. In case of stove malfunctioning, the display shows the relative error signals (see alarm signal paragraph). • LED On/Off The LED indicates the various statuses of the stove: - on if the stove is in ignition and working. - off if the stove is in Off. - flashing if a switch-off cycle is in progress. 6.2 Stove adjustment Wanted ambient temperature modification Proceed as follows to change the wanted temperature: Press 1) once to access the temperature setting menu. The display will now show the word "Set", alternating with the wanted temperature. Decrease or increase the wanted value using keys (2) and (3) The Temperature set menu is exited automatically after a few seconds of inactivity inside the menu itself. ENGLISH 10 Il caldo ecologico Work power modification Proceed as follows to change the wanted work pressure: Press (1) once to access the work power setting menu. The display will now show the word "Pot", alternating with power, that can be selected among the 5 available. Decrease or increase the wanted value using keys (2) and (3). The Power set menu is exited automatically after a few seconds of inactivity inside the menu itself. 6.3 Recommendations • Do not ignite the stove intermittently: this may cause sparks that can shorten the life of the electrical components; • Do not touch the stove with wet hands: there being electrical components, the stove may cause shocks if incorrectly handled. Only authorised technicians can resolve possible problems; • Do not remove any screw from the fire case without it having been properly lubricated; • Never open the door when the pellet stove is running; • Make sure that the brazier basket is correctly positioned. • Remember that it must be possible to inspect all smoke duct sections. If fixed, it must have inspection openings for cleaning. 6.4 Pellet loading in tank The pellet is loaded in the tank via the door in the upper part of the stove. To load proceed as follows: • Open the door on the upper top; • Pour the wanted amount of pellets inside the tank, paying the due attention (pour sufficient pellets to guarantee a discreet autonomy of operation of the stove); • Close the door. 7. Stove commissioning 7.1 Stove ignition • Before ignition make sure the brazier is empty and clean. On the contrary, empty and clean the same; • Fill the tank for 3/4 of the pellet recommended by the manufacturer; • Connect the stove to a socket with the provided cable; • Press the ignition switch located at the back of the stove; • The display will show the word "OFF"; ENGLISH 11 Il caldo ecologico • Press for 2 seconds. After a few moments the smoke extractor, the ignition resistance switch-on and the word "Fanacc" appears; The glow plug LED lights up. • "LOAD WOOD" appears after about 1 minute, the stove loads the pellets and continues igniting the resistance; • "FIREON" appears on display once the appropriate temperature is reached: it means the stove has switched to last ignition phase, at the end of which it will be fully operational; The glow plug LED switches off. • After a few minutes "ON 1-2-3-4-5" appears on display depending on the set power, alternating with ambient temperature. • In case the temperature set on display is reached, the following word appears: "ECO", alternating with ambient temperature. • The temperature LED lights up when the set temperature is reached. 7.2 Stove switch-off Switch-off the stove by pressing on the control panel until "OFF" appears on the display. The smoke extractor continues operating for a pre-set time even after having switched off the stove to guarantee a quick expulsion of the fumes from the combustion chamber. For models equipped with remote control, just switch-off the remote control by pressing for 2 seconds and then confirm by pressing "SEND". The word "Off" will appear during switch-off and the LED above the On/Off button will flash throughout the cooling cycle. If attempting to re-ignite the stove during this phase, the display will show "Atte" (Attention) to warn the user that the switch-off cycle is in progress. Wait for the cycle to complete and for the LED above the On/Off button to stop flashing before proceeding with a new ignition 8. Remote control The Pasqualicchio stove is standard equipped with a wireless remote control that allows the following functions: a) Ignition/Switch-off via ON/OFF button b) Temperature increase decrease using the UP/DOWN arrows c) TURBO function: enabled by pressing "TURBO", nothing will appear on display to show the enabling of such function with stove off. During the heating phase the stove is taken to maximum and the temperature set is taken to 30° for 30 minutes. The stove restarts power operation and set ENGLISH 12 Il caldo ecologico temperature set at the end of the pre-set time. During the heating phase the stove highlights this function by displaying "Turb" alternating with other views. d) SLEEP function: enabled by pressing "SLEEP", nothing will appear on display to show the enabling of such function with stove off. After 60 seconds of heating, this function reduces the temperature setting by 1°C allowing a reduction in stove consumption. During the heating phase the stove highlights this function by displaying ''Slee'' alternating with other views. e) AUTO function: enabled by pressing "AUTO", nothing will appear on display to show the enabling of such function with stove off. During the heating phase the stove modulates the heating power in proportion to the nearing to the temperature set point. During the heating phase the stove highlights this function by displaying ''Auto'' alternating with other views. f) ECO function: enabled by pressing "ECO", nothing will appear on display to show the enabling of such function with stove off. During the heating phase the stove decreases the heating power every 10 minutes, until it reaches its minimum. During the heating phase the stove highlights this function by displaying ''Eco'' alternating with other views. 9. Information on display "OFF" "OFF" the stove is off or is in switch-off phase. "FAN - ACC" The stove is in resistance pre-heat phase, preceding the ignition "LOADWOOD" The stove is in pellet loading phase. The glow plug LED on the control panel is on. "FIRE ON" The stove is in flame stabilisation phase (flame present). "ON 1" The stove is in working phase at minimum power. "ECO" The stove has reached the temperature set by the user and it is in saving and economy phase. In this phase the power cannot be modified. If the set temperature is 41°C the stove will always run at the set working power without switching to economy mode [ECO]"STOP FIRE" The stove is in basket self-cleaning phase; the smoke extractor runs at maximum speed and the pellet loading is at minimum. "ATTE" It appears when attempting to re-ignite the stove while a cooling cycle is in progress. Wait for the cycle to complete before proceeding with normal ignition. ENGLISH 13 Il caldo ecologico 9.1 Alarm signals COOL FIRE In case of blackout, even for a few seconds, the stove switches off. When the electric current is back on the stove runs a switch-off cycle and the display shows "Cool fire". When the cooling cycle is completed, the stove automatically restarts. SERV When "Serv" appears on display it means that the stove has reached the 900 hours of operation. We recommend contacting the authorised assistance centre for the seasonal maintenance. ALARM NO ACC: ABNORMAL IGNITION It occurs when after the ignition period, about 15 minutes, the fumes temperature is still insufficient. It may also occur in case of little pellet intake upon ignition. Press On/Off on the control panel to reset the alarm. Wait for the cooling cycle to complete, clean the brazier and proceed with a new ignition. ALARM NO FIRE It appears in case of stove switch-off during the working phase. (e.g. for lack of pellets in tank). "Alarm No Fire'' appears on display. Press On/Off on the control panel to reset the alarm. Wait for the cooling cycle to complete, empty the brazier and proceed with a new ignition. ALARM FAN FAIL It occurs in case of smoke extractor failure or if the speed of the fumes expulsion fan is not detected by the board. In this case reset the alarm by pressing "On/Off" and contact the authorised assistance centre ALARM SONO FUMI It appears in case of failure or disconnection of the probe detecting the fumes temperature. "Alarm Sond fumi" appears on display. In this case reset the alarm by pressing ''On/Off'' and contact the authorised assistance centre. ALARM OEP SIC FAIL This alarm is accompanied by the flashing of the ALF and ALC LEDs on the control panel. It indicates two possibilities: an obstruction in the flue or a possible overheating of the stove. In both cases the geared motor for auger loading blocks and the stove is switched off. Reset the alarm by pressing "On/Off". Check the possible intervention of the manual reset thermostat on the back of the stove (4). Loosen the protective cap and press the button appearing underneath. In case of repeated blocks due to the same problem, contact the authorised technical assistance centre ENGLISH 14 Il caldo ecologico 1. Button 2. Power supply cable 3. F4AL250V Fuse 10. Cleaning and maintenance Take the following precautions before performing any maintenance on the stove: • Make sure that all of the stove parts are cold; • Make sure the ashes are completely extinguished; • Make sure the main switch is at OFF; • Disconnect the plug, thus avoiding any accidental contacts; • At the end of maintenance, check that all is order as before the intervention (the brazier correctly placed). Please follow these cleaning instructions carefully. Not paying attention to these instructions could create problems in the operation of the stove. 10.1 Cleaning the combustion chamber (monthly) With stove cold and off proceed as follows: Extract the rod wiper with the door closed. Activate the rod wiper 5/6 times by pulling and pushing the lever to ensure the exchange pipes are clean. At the end of the operation leave the lever extracted to facilitate disassembling the parts inside the combustion chamber. ENGLISH 15 Il caldo ecologico - open the stove door and remove the brazier and ash drawer Extract the external fire beater bulkheads by simply shifting them towards you without turning them. If necessary use a screwdriver or similar tool to remove the bulkheads. Remove the central bulkhead from the combustion chamber Extract the bottom of the combustion chamber using a screwdriver; it is compulsory to start from the right section Using a vacuum cleaner clean the inside of the chamber 10.2 Cleaning the surfaces To clean the surfaces use a cloth dampened with water or water and mild soap. ENGLISH 16 Il caldo ecologico The use of aggressive detergents or cleaning agents could damage the stove’s surface. Before using any cleaner, we recommend that you test it on a hidden part of the stove or that you contact an Authorised Assistance Centre for advice. 10.3 Cleaning the metal parts To clean the metal parts of the stove use a soft cloth, dampened with water. Never clean metal parts using alcohol, thinners, benzene, acetone or other degreasers. Our company declines any liability if these substances are used. Any change in shade of the metal parts may be attributable to an inadequate use of the stove. ATTENTION: Cleaning the brazier should be done daily and the ash drawer periodically. Inadequate cleaning, or a lack of cleaning can, in some cases, prevent the stove from igniting with consequential damage to the stove itself and to the environment (with emissions of soot and unburnt components). Do not re-use or re-insert any pellets found in the brazier as a result of a failed ignition. 10.4 Cleaning the brazier and its support When the flame becomes a shade of red or is weak, accompanied by black smoke, it means there are ash or deposits that do not allow proper operation of the stove and that must be removed. Remove the brazier by simply lifting it from its seat on a daily basis; remove the ash and any deposit formed, paying particular attention to clear the clogged holes by using a pointed tool (not supplied with the stove). This operation is necessary the first few times at each ignition, especially if using different pellets to those recommended by the manufacturer. The frequency of this operation is determined by the frequency of use and by the chosen pellet. Also check the brazier support by vacuuming any ash using a vacuum cleaner. 10.5 Daily cleaning using rod wipers (where present) With stove off and cold, activate the rod wiper of the heat exchange duct 5/6 times by pulling and pushing the lever located between the front grids from where the ambient air comes out. • Push the rod wiper towards the stove with the door closed • Pull the rod wiper towards you with the door closed. 10.6 Cleaning the glass The glass is self-cleaning so, while the stove is running, a veil of air flows along the glass surface keeping ash and dirt away; nevertheless, a greying patina will form over a few hours that must be cleaned at first stove switch-off. Fouling of the glass also depends on the quantity and quality of the used pellet. The glass must be cleaned with stove cold, using the products recommended and tested by our company. When this ENGLISH 17 Il caldo ecologico operation is carried out, always check if the grey gasket around the glass is in good condition; failure to check the efficiency of this gasket may jeopardise the operation of the stove. However, poor quality pellet may cause fouling of the glass. ATTENTION! Do not attention igniting the stove if the glass is broken 10.7 Cleaning the discharge system Until reasonable experience on the operating conditions is acquired, we recommend performing this maintenance at least once a month. • Disconnect the power supply cable; • Remove the cap from the T connection and clean the ducts; if necessary, at least for the first few times, contact qualified personnel; • Accurately clean the smoke discharge system: for this purpose, contact a professional chimney sweeper; • Remove dust, cobwebs, etc. from the area behind the inner covering panels once a year, particularly the fans. 10.8 Cleaning the fans The stove is equipped with fans (ambient and fumes) located in the back and bottom of the stove itself. Any dust or ash deposits on the fan blades lead to an imbalance that causes noise during operation. Therefore, clean the fans at least once a year. Since this operation entails disassembling some parts of the stove, contact our Authorised Assistance Centre to clean the fan. 10.9 End of season cleaning At the end of season, when the stove is no longer used, we recommend a more accurate and general cleaning: • Remove all pellets from the tank and auger; • Accurately clean the brazier, its support, the combustion chamber and the ash drawer. If the above points have been observed, this entails only a check of the stove condition. It is necessary to accurately clean the discharge pipe or the flue and check the conditions of the basket: if necessary, order it from the Authorised Assistance Centre. If necessary, lubricate the door and handle hinges. Also check the ceramic fibre rope near the glass, on the inner wall of the door: order if from the Authorised Assistance Centre if worn or too dry. 10.10 Operations to be carried out every season before ignition • General cleaning inside and outside; • Accurate cleaning of exchange pipes; • Thorough cleaning and de-scaling of the brazier and its compartment; • Cleaning of motors, mechanical check of clearance and hardware; • Cleaning of smoke duct (replacement of gaskets on pipes) and of smoke extractor fan compartment; • Cleaning of silicone tube connected to pressure switch; • Cleaning, inspection and descaling of the ignition resistance compartment, its replacement if necessary; • Clean/check synoptic panel; • Visual inspection of electrical cables, connections and power supply cord; • Cleaning of the pellet tank and checking of clearance auger-geared motor set; • Replacement of gasket of the combustion door; • Functional test, auger loading, ignition, operation for 10 minutes and switch-off. Replacing the elements The stove is equipped with a 4 mm thick ceramic glass, resistant to a 750°C thermal shock; the glass can only be broken due to a strong impact or an improper use. Do not slam the door or hit the glass. In case of break, only replace the glass with an original one supplied by the Authorised Assistance Centre. Annual maintenance by the assistance centre These operations must be scheduled annually by the Authorised Assistance Centre and are necessary to ensure maintenance of the product efficiency, guaranteeing its safe operation. • Accurate cleaning of the combustion chamber; • Cleaning and inspection of the smoke discharge duct; • Check of seal of the gaskets; • Cleaning of mechanisms and of moving parts (motors and fans); • Check of electrical and electronic components. 12. Information regarding the disposal or recycling products at the end of their lifetime This product is included in the scope of the 2002/96/CE directive, also known as WEEE, regarding electrical and electronic equipment waste. The aim of said directive is to prevent and to limit the production of waste from such kind of equipment, and to favour the re-use, recycling, and other way of recovery so as prevent the possible harmful effects to the environment and the public health. The crossed dustbin displayed on products indicates that they are subject to the provisions of the directive: therefore, at the end of their lifetime, products cannot be disposed of as mixed municipal waste; they must be disposed of by specialised collection services as prescribed by the local standards in force or as specified by the distributor. The producer, the importer and the distributor are responsible for the waste collection and disposal, whether it is carried out by themselves or through a collective system.
