Page |8 Setup a New Computer To start entering grades, you need to ensure the computer you are using has the GradeQuick Web Plug-in. To get the plug-in simply click on Tools. Then click on Get GradeQuick Plug-in. Follow the onscreen instructions to install. Note: This only has to occur the first time you use GradeQuick on your personal computer. Every computer at ACU already has this installed. Accessing your GradeQuick Grade Book To access your grade book go to Tools -> GradeQuick Web. Page |9 GradeQuick Overview After opening your grade book, make sure you have the right class selected by clicking on Window and selecting the desired class. Next, click in an empty column and a pop up box will open. Click “Yes” to add a new column for an assignment. Next, select a category. If you don't have any categories created yet, just type in the name of a category. After typing in the category, it will be available in the drop down box for future entries. P a g e | 10 Sorting Students To sort the students alphabetically, first click on the student column. Next, click on one of the arrows in the menu bar (see insert). o If you click on the up arrow, it will sort the students by last name Z-A. o If you click on the down arrow, it will sort the students by last name A-Z. P a g e | 11 Weighting Categories Note: Categories must currently be in use to appear in the weighting screen. To weight categories go to “Grading” on the toolbar then to “Weighting…” A screen resembling the one below should open. First, click the check mark box next to Weight Categories. Next click on the category you wish to put the weight into. In the box at the lower portion of the dialog box, next to Change put in the decimal that corresponds to the percentage you wish to assign the category. For example, if “Quiz” were worth 30% you would type in 0.30. After you have the correct value input click change. Repeat this process for any of the other categories you wish to weigh. Note: The total weight categories must add up to 1.0 (100%), otherwise GradeQuick will not accurately weight the categories. P a g e | 12 Running Reports To run a report like Academic Alerts first click on “Reports” on the Menu Bar and then move down to “Multi-file Progress – One Teacher” and then select “Style 2.” Other styles will work but this style gives the student the most information from the grade book. From the menu bar options, select “Print” and then “Print Report.” Select the course you are running the report and click “OK.” Select the students you want or click Select All and click OK. Next, follow the dialog box to print the reports. P a g e | 13 Recording Attendance Per federal mandate, attendance must be recorded in your class. Select the Attendance button in the menu bar. To setup the days of the week your class meets, select Vacation Setup Work Week. You may now deselect the days your class does not meet. Select the checkbox next to the class(es) that you would like to post grades. GradeQuick does not record if a student is present. It only records if the student is tardy(T), absent(A), or absent for a university function(S). Select the day the student was absent and choose the appropriate option. P a g e | 14 Setting Attendance Penalties In the attendance window select, File Penalties. You have three options: o Set Penalties Manually – This allows you to set a different penalty for each absence or tardy. o Set Penalties Automatically – This bases the penalties off the options specified automatically. (Recommended method) o Remove Penalties – Removes previous changes. You must enter the 3 numbers. o The first indicates how many penalties a student can incur before his grade is reduced. o The second indicates the number of percentage points that will be subtracted from a penalized student’s average. o The third indicates how many more penalties must be incurred after each reduction before the grade is again reduced. In the case above, the student would not be penalized for the first 4 penalty days, but would lose a 10 percent at the 5th penalty day and would lose another 10 percent for each day thereafter. P a g e | 15 Posting Grades to Edline When you are finished adding grades to your grade book, do not forget to post your grades so your students can see their progress. Select the Post to Edline button in the menu bar. Select Print -> Send to Edline. Select the option Send Several Files and click OK. Select the checkbox next to the class(es) that you would like to post grades. Click Select All and then click OK. You must enter a description in the description field and then click Send This Report. A webpage will pop-up stating that Edline has received your reports. Your students can now see their grades.
