RIC TAKES TWO IN FINAL REGULAR SEASON ACTION
Anchormen Seniors Honored as RIC
Readies for New England Championships
Providence, RI—The 22nd-ranked Rhode Island College wrestling team finished
the 2007-08 regular season with a 46-0 win over New England Wrestling Association
(NEWA) foe Trinity and a 29-9 victory over NEWA opponent and Pilgrim Wrestling
League rival Bridgewater State on Friday evening at The Murray Center.
The Anchormen now turn their sights to the 2008 New England Championships,
which will be held at Southern Maine on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24. Head Coach
Jay Jones’ team enters the tourney fray ranked No. 3 in New England. RIC closes out
the regular season with a 16-4 overall record, an 11-3 mark against NEWA opposition
and a 4-2 mark in the Pilgrim League.
Rhode Island College opened the night with a decisive shutout victory over the
Bantams. The Anchormen were aided by three forfeit victories and a pin by junior Nick

After the Bears handed Trinity a 34-11 loss in the evening’s middle match, the
Anchormen squared off against BSC in a battle of the third and fourth-ranked squads in
