Accommodations range from quaint bed and breakfast
hideaways to guest ranches to a world-class resort.
You can leave reality behind with an authentic Idaho
wilderness experience or discover the city’s softer
side in a waterfront suite. Fish for a native cutthroat
at dawn then enjoy your catch for dinner prepared to
perfection by an award-winning chef.
Lake Coeur d’Alene is more than 25 miles long with
over 135 miles of shoreline and an average depth of
120 feet. The Lake is fed by the St. Joe and Coeur
d’Alene Rivers and drained by the Spokane River.
The lake level is controlled by a dam on the Spokane
River at Post Falls.

LET'S MEET AT THE LAKE
But equally important, you’ll feel at home in
Coeur d’Alene. The natives are friendly. Smiling and
helpful. With service as sparkling as the lake itself.
A positive attitude that earned the Lake City the
designation as an All-American City by the National
Civic League in 1990.
Take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with
Coeur d’Alene and the facilities, services and
adventures which qualify our corner of Idaho as the
playground of the West.

COME DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF COEUR D'ALENE
LET'S MEET AT THE LAKE
It’s all here. The pristine serenity of the lake heralded
as one of the five most beautiful in the world. Freefall
roller coasters and whitewater rafting. Lake cruises,
hiking and the world’s only floating golf green.
There are festivals, concerts and fairs. Unique bistros
and elegant restaurants. Main street shopping for
antiques, art, clothing, souvenirs and much more.
The world’s only floating golf green at The Coeur
d’Alene Resort Golf Course weighs in at over five
million pounds and can be moved on the water's
surface to vary the playable length of the hole from 75 to
over 175 yards.
This Page: The world famous Floating Green at The
Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course. (Right, from top)
Snowboarding at one of the area's premier ski resorts; fly
fishing on one of Coeur d'Alene's many beautiful rivers;
mountain biking down Silver Mountain; one of Boulder
Beach's thrilling water slides at Silverwood.
Combine spectacular scenery with challenging golf
and you have the formula for a great golf getaway.
North Idaho offers 18 exciting courses where you can
tee it up, ranging from intimate nine hole layouts to
championship-tested 18 hole challenges. But perhaps
the best challenge North Idaho golfers face is found on
the 14th tee at The Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course,
site of the world-famous floating green. This course,
selected for a gold medal by Golf Magazine, has been
called “America’s Most Beautiful Resort Course” by Golf
Digest.
North Idaho lakes and streams provide the perfect
haven for trophy species including the Chinook salmon,
Kamloops rainbow trout and the legendary Idaho
cutthroat. Wet your line with a lake charter on Coeur
d’Alene or Pend Oreille or join one of the area’s outfitters
and guides for a fly fishing adventure on the Clark Fork
or St. Joe Rivers. For the more adventuresome, plan a
wilderness outing to one of the backcountry lakes and
streams located in glacier carved valleys across the
region. For a truly western experience hop in the saddle
and take a trail-ride at Rider Ranch.
Closer to home, discover Coeur d’Alene City Beach, the
perfect complement to a picnic in the park. Or take a hike
around Tubbs Hill, a 120 acre waterfront preserve on
the downtown waterfront, or stroll the world’s longest
floating boardwalk at The Coeur d’Alene Resort. Lake
Coeur d’Alene Cruises sails three times daily during the
summer from Independence Point, which also serves
as your departure point for parasailing, seaplane rides
and jet ski rentals. Or just minutes away, test Lady Luck
at the Coeur d’Alene Casino slot machines or off-track
wagering at the Greyhound Park and Events Center.
Then again, maybe you'd rather explore the wild side.

WELCOME TO THE DESTINATION OF CHOICE
PLAYGROUND OF THE WEST
PLAYGROUND OF THE WEST
Coeur d’Alene offers a range of activities, some designed
to excite the urban escapist seeking extreme adventure,
others more sedate to bring family members together
for a week of fun and relaxation. Here’s just a sampling
of the options you’ll discover in the playground of the
West.
Get ready for thrills a minute at the NORTHWEST’S
LARGEST THEME PARK, featuring Tremors, a 60-mile
per hour, heart-in-your-throat, screaming underground
rollercoaster, plus its equally twisted cousins Timber
Terror and the Corkscrew. Ride a vintage steam train.
Challenge a gigantic wave pool or monster water slide
in Boulder Beach or enjoy dazzling live entertainment at
the ice and magic shows. And in 2006, a new giant will
dominate the skies, Panic Plunge the ultimate adrenaline
rush, a 140 foot tower that drops you at close to 50-miles
per hour.

WILD SIDE
Or don a life jacket and get wet on one of the region’s
whitewater rivers. Choose a guided trip with a rafting
company or go solo in your own kayak, either way it’s
wet and wild. If you like your whitewater a little less
wild, splash down the waterslides at Wild Waters or rent
a personal watercraft at Jet Ski Island or Vacation Sports
Rentals.
Landloving adventurists can pack their mountain bikes
up the world’s longest gondola at Silver Mountain, crisscross the mountain trails then coast seven miles back
down to the gondola base in Kellogg. Or rediscover the
tunnels and trestles along the Route of the Hiawatha,
running from Lookout Pass to the St. Joe. Flatlanders
will love the Centennial Trail, stretching along the shoreline east of Coeur d’Alene to the Washington Stateline.
The Trail is a perfect spot for biking, walking or an afternoon of rollerblading. Stretching more than 72 miles
from Mullan to Plummer, the paved Trail of the Coeur
d’Alenes is great for wildlife viewing and discovering the
historic Silver Valley.

EXPLORE YOUR WILD SIDE
This Page: Go head over heels on Silverwood's Corkscrew coaster. (Right, from
top) Some of the best Lake Kayaking in the U.S.; white water rafting trip down
one of America's premier rivers; exciting lake opportunities abound; mountain
bike riding on the Hiawatha Trail.
YOUR IDAHO ADVENTURE BEGINS HERE
Silverwood was founded in 1988 by Gary Norton after winning a successful
bid against Disney for the 1915 locomotive that takes visitors around the park
where they can see live buffalo and an authentic Coeur d’Alene Indian encampment. The park is famous for it’s thrill rides from Thunder Canyon to Tremor’s
Roller Coaster that ranks among the top ten in all coasterdom.
Winter snows cover the mountains with deep Rocky
Mountain powder. Skiers call in sick. Snowmobilers
head for the backcountry. There’s ice fishing on Fernan.
Dogsled races in Priest Lake. And friends sharing a hot
toddy around the fire. It’s a winter scene in the Coeur
d’Alene’s.
EXPLORE YOUR WILD SIDE
Your Idaho
adventure begins here
Coeur d’Alene was named America’s Top Ski Town by
Ski Magazine in 1990, due to the close proximity of two
ski mountains and the variety of aprés skiing activities.
Just 30 freeway miles away, skiers and borders hop
aboard a gondola for a quick trip to the lodges and lifts of
Silver Mountain, boasting two peaks, 50 runs and 2,200
vertical feet of alpine fun. In 2004, Silver Mountain was
named “one of the best three mountains you’ve never
skied” by Ski Magazine. A little further down the road,
discover Lookout Pass, just off I-90 on the Idaho-Montana
border, and to the North, Schweitzer Mountain.
Snowmobilers will discover miles and miles of groomed
trails bisecting the back country outside Coeur d’Alene.
Overnight trail rides are also available to a wilderness
lodge that puts you face-to-face with nature at its best.
The Silver Country 1,000 mile trail system radiates from
historic Wallace reaching past Superior, Montana. The
trails, groomed by the U.S. Forest Service, offer pristine
scenery, wildlife and terrain inaccessible by other means
of winter travel.
Coeur d’Alene brightens the Northwest skies during the
holiday season with America’s largest, on-the-water
Christmas light show, The Coeur d'Alene Resort Holiday
Light Show. The show, featuring over a million lights, is
illuminated on the Friday following Thanksgiving with a
spectacular lighting ceremony and parade. The displays
ring the Boardwalk at The Coeur d’Alene Resort and form
a backdrop to Santa’s workshop across the lake. A lake
cruise to see Santa draws thousands of visitors from
across the Northwest during the holiday season.
WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T HAVE IT ALL
Other winter activities include ice skating, cross country
skiing and relaxing next to a fire to enjoy the finer things
Coeur d’Alene has to offer.

WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T HAVE IT ALL
Wyatt Earp once operated a bar near Murray, Idaho. One of his
most frequent, and biggest customers was an old miner named
Noah Kellogg, the man who eventually discovered the Bunker
Hill Mine. Old Noah had a stubborn jackass that was known
for running away with Noah’s gear strapped to its back. He’d
usually find the old mule wandering away to what later became
Jackass Mountain and is now called Silver Mountain Ski Area.

For some golfers the peaceful natural beauty at StoneRidge, set amid northern Idaho’s thick conifer forests and blue mountain lakes, is the reason
they keep coming back. For others it is the pure challenge of our 6,684 yard, par 71 Championship Golf Course with just enough water hazards and
white sand bunkers that even the biggest hitters play with care. For both the seasoned and occasional player, now there’s even more reason to golf
StoneRidge. Our new 19th hole provides the opportunity to extend your game - or maybe settle that bet, with one more chance to redeem yourself on
this beautiful 238 yard, par 4 finish. Plus, you will get a chance to play the tough 8th, ranked as one of Idaho’s “mean” 18 holes. We are open April
