Kentucky Utilities once again serves as the title sponsor for the network for both the 2016 Girls’ & Boys’ State Basketball Championships. Chuck Mraz and Neal Bradley will team up to handle play-by-play duties in 2016. Former Rowan County and Morehead State standout Julie Magrane-Muntz and former coach Mina Todd provide color commentary, and Carl Nathe of Lexington reports from the sidelines. Neal Bradley will serve as play-by-play announcer for the sixth year. For the past 25 years Bradley has thrilled Murray State fans with his calls of big wins as “Voice of the Racers.” In addition to his play-by-play duties for Murray State men’s basketball and football, Bradley serves as host of the radio program ”Hey Coach!” with Matt McMahan and is sports director and morning show host at WOFC-WNBS in Murray. Chuck Mraz has called the action on Morehead State University’s sports network for more than a quarter century and is in his third year with the KU Sweet 16® Radio Network. During his career with Morehead State Public Radio he has captured more than 25 Associated Press awards for news and sports reporting, including two AP sports play-by-play awards. During his stint at the mic for the MSU network he has worked several NCAA Tournament games. A former Sweet 16® participant at Rowan County, Magrane-Muntz was a standout for the Lady Vikings and later enjoyed a Hall of Fame career at Morehead State University in the late 1980s. She has also shared her expertise as an assistant coach. This is her fourth year with the network. Former DuPont Manual coach Mina Todd returns as an analyst in 2016. Todd guided the Crimsons to a runner-up finish in the 2001 girls’ championship tournament. She played high school basketball at Calloway County and competed on the collegiate level at the University of Tennessee and Murray State University. Carl Nathe will serve as sideline reporter once again this season. Nathe handles PA duties at UK home football games and is in his 27th year working for UK Public Relations and Marketing. His popular program “UK at the Half” is heard on the UK sports network during every football and basketball game broadcast on the UK Sports Network. Nathe is a recipient of the prestigious Al Temple Award for his outstanding contributions to the Kentucky Broadcasters Association. Other network personalities will be assigned as needed. Interested advertisers should contact Leah Little (llittle@ khsaa.org). Gilb, Professor of Physical Education at the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Gilb believed cheerleaders should be encouraged to constantly improve the skills and techniques while supporting their athletic teams. Sponsors of cheerleading squads throughout the state were then organized to continue this philosophy. Various cheerleading companies were invited to Kentucky for workshops and clinics to provide educational experience for our coaches and cheerleaders. KAPOS, believing that cheerleaders should in some way be rewarded for their time and efforts, started the Sweet 16® Competition in 1955.
