Refresher that Reminds
Asia Biblical Theological Seminary Asian Ministry for a Global Kingdom Refresher that Reminds Dear Coworker: As Dean of Asia Biblical Theological Seminary (ABTS), I know that it is essential for church leaders to have times of personal refreshment in order to continue effectively in the ministry. Therefore, it is an honor for me to invite you as a guest of ABTS to my home church in Cedarville, Ohio, for a refresher with one of ABTS’s adjunct professors, Dr. Scott Carroll. Dr. Carroll, an expert in ancient manuscripts and languages, will open up to us the world of Scriptural transmission, including a hands-on “mini-museum” of papyri texts, scrolls and medieval manuscripts to illustrate the story of the composition, transmission and preservation of Scripture. Join us for this “East meets West” refresher that will remind us once again of the glory of God’s revelation to us in written form. Monday, June 29 Moffat Hall Grace Baptist Church Cedarville, Ohio Beginning promptly at 10:00 AM A catered lunch is provided, and the program will wrap up at 2:30PM Jim Blumenstock Dean Space is limited. RSVP no later than June 19, 2015. Questions or comments? At Cornerstone University we are deeply committed to the transforming power of the gospel in a global perspective. So, needless to say, we are thankful for the ministry of our Asia Biblical Theological Seminary that transports outstanding theological education to church leaders all across the Asian Rim. I think you will find this day to not only be a time of personal refreshment and fellowship but also a wonderful eye-opening experience about God's work through ABTS. All the best, Joe Stowell President Cornerstone University and ABTS I’ve had the chance to work with and hear Dr. Scott Carroll when we served ABTS in Thailand together, and I can tell you what he will have for us is different, engaging, and best of all—refreshing as we marvel at how God has preserved the written Word! Dr. Carroll has done strategic events with the likes of Josh McDowell and beyond. http://www.josh.org/discover/ Scott's education includes a master's degree in church history from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, a doctorate in ancient studies from Miami University of Ohio and further studies in ancient languages from Hebrew Union College. His research, which focuses on the study of ancient and medieval manuscripts, has made Scott one of the world's foremost scholars on ancient biblical texts. An authority on the use of technology in research, Scott regularly collaborates with a working group at Oxford University developing innovations in multispectral imaging and digital effects to analyze ancient manuscripts. In addition to uncovering previously unknown layers of text in ancient manuscripts, the technology is expected to have further application outside the realm of ancient manuscript studies.
