climb to train station and buy train ticket and park pass then double the distance up to a
small car parking: on your right your breakfast place "Pasticceria Siciliana - Il Pirata delle
Cinque Terre"
9:45 am get back and follow directions walk to Corniglia (not less then 90 min not more then 2
hours)
11:45 am visit Corniglia and sightseeing balcony toward the sea (just walk straight thru the village)
12:30 pm step down staircase to Corniglia train station and get the train to Riomaggiore
1.00 pm enter the tunnel and visit Riomaggiore. Lunch with "focaccia di Recco" at "Te la do io la
merenda" just a bit upward along the street.

back to train station where Via dell'Amore starts to Manarola

To catch bus to "Campo dei Miracoli" that is Piazza del Duomo (Italian for Cathedral Place), exit train
station, cross the square to the bus stop in front of Hotel Cavalieri and get Bus Line 3 "LAM Rossa"
toward San Jacopo / Park Pietrasantina (like in the picture). You must buy your ticket (0,80€) before
getting on the bus and you can purchase them cash at any Tobacconists, in many bars and
newsagents. You can also buy your ticket on board the bus but costs 1,50€. Once on the bus you
must validate your ticket by punching it in one of the yellow machines located within the bus.

and drop in front of a Duomo's wall entrance.
Try to recognize how many people are in line to enter Leaning Tower (15€) but do not skip Cathedral
and Baptistery (ticket for 2 monuments among others 6 € pp).
The Devil's Nails: on the north side of the Cathedral (1063 - 1118 AD), in front of the Monumental
Cemetery, is a piece of marble Roman origin which have a range of holes. According to the legend
these signs would be left by the Devil when climbed the Cathedral in a bid to stop the construction.
Again according to legend the number of these nails varies each time you try to count (there are

around 150, with some lighter signs sometimes overlooked in the counts). Visitors who have enjoyed
their count never have been able to obtain the same number consecutively.
Lucky Lizard:at the entrance door of the Cathedral among numerous decorations in relief there is a
small lizard which, according to tradition, gives good fortune if touched.
Get the bus back or walk the town down to Train Station: about 30 minutes (1.5 miles)
A diversion to must see Piazza dei Cavalieri allows you to have lunch, just in case you want to, at
"Osteria i miei sapori" in Via Uguccione della Faggiola, 20.

Depending on time you have, you can visit Lucca at dusk or shopping erratically in via Fillungo and
spend part of the Friday morning before leaving to Florence to visit town.
In case of interest is possible to rent bicycles in Piazza S. Maria (very close to your accomodation) and
ride on walls: the whole tour is less than 3 miles long.

The Verona Arena
The Roman amphitheater (better known as
Arena) is, with Romeo and Juliet, the
symbol of this city. It was probably built in
1st century and like all the amphitheaters
housed the gladiators' spectacles. A solid
and impressive structure with the exterior
faced of bricks and red marble (called
“rosso - red - Verona”) which create a particular chromatic effect; the interior with its central stage
and a tier of concentric seats give an effect of grandeur. The Arena maintains its function indeed it
still is a stupendous background of concerts and musical manifestations.
Juliet's balcony
Verona was the theater where the tragic love story
between Romeo and Juliet, made famous by
Shakespeare’s tragedy, took place. In a building of the
XIII century, situated in the center of the city, Verona’s
city dwellers recognized the Capuleti’s house: the
legend merges with reality, here finding reference
points. A beautiful facade faced with bricks and a
Gothic front door on the exterior: in the courtyard
there’s a bronze statue representing Juliet and the
celebrate balcony protagonist of one of the most known scenes of the world dramatic literature.
Juliet’s house is an obliged stop for who wants to feel the devastating power of that contrasted love.
