a strong buying opportunity where the balance of value is firmly in the purchasing side of
the deal. 2007’s bull market is 2012’s bear market.
Nicholas Edmiston, chairman, comments “a more realistic approach to asking prices
combined with a more proactive acceptance of a sales price has resulted in deals that suit
both buyers and sellers”. Movement has returned to the market.

The market for large yachts has definitely

strengthened in the first quarter of this year.
Edmiston research lists 70 yachts being sold
in the six months period from August 2011 to
February 2012 with an increase of nearly
50 per cent in the 50-60 metre category.
One particular point of interest is the
year-on-year increase in new construction
orders for discovery/adventure yacht:
24 in 2009, 32 in 2010 and 36 in 2011, yet
another overall gain of nearly 50 per cent.

Edmiston has 4 world cruising yachts totalling 250 metres and
4,000 gross tonnes, for clients who think big.
TRIPLE SEVEN
68 metres and nearly 1,400 gross tonnes
This imposing yacht was built to the highest standards at Nobiskrug in Germany.
With a huge range of 10,000 miles, everything about her is designed for ultra longrange cruising in total comfort. Full-height bullet-proof windows bring safety and
brilliant sunlight into the contemporary cubist styled main saloon and master suite.
Outdoor space includes a sun deck gazebo, duplex beach club with an extended
swimming platform and a large dining terrace on the upper deck. Heli-capable and
engineered for every eventuality, 777 had a €12 million refit to keep her in top condition.
She is unquestionably one of the most impressive yachts currently for sale.

LADY CHRISTINA
65 metres – 1,300 gross tonnes
The largest Codecasa yet built, Lady Lau has six decks and sleeps eighteen guests. An owner’s apartment occupies the forward upper deck and includes a huge bedroom,
a VIP suite (there are two other VIPs on the main deck) and a private outdoor dining terrace. This yacht was specifically designed to provide shade either on deck but more
overtly by increasing the available interior space. The bridge deck has an interesting layout with a Jacuzzi and casual terrace leading indoors to a gymnasium and a cinema
with worldwide entertainment systems. Decorated in classic style with gloss mahogany panelling, Lady Lau is still under warranty and has never been chartered.

Designed to be practical rather
than conventional, much of
the internal space has been
arranged to make the most
of every feature. For example,
a dining area with windows
opening along the entire length
of the saloon.
The upper deck is dedicated
to the owner’s suite with a
lounge, private dining area
and terrace. A gymnasium set
within the transom opens onto
the swimming platform – but
for outside space, few yachts
can improve on the split-level
sun deck that extends to over
27 metres.

If Candy & Candy’s brand of sophisticated contemporary design is your style, Candyscape I I takes the concept to the ultimate degree. The sun deck is like a chic resort – a
fashionable bar and dining terrace with a huge sunbed that rotates to face the sun whatever the direction of the yacht. Full of design icons from artworks to exotic surfaces,
the overall theme is 1930s glamour integrated with the very latest technology. With considerable volume the designers have been able to include features such as a gymnasium
shared by the split-level master and VIP suites. Ultimately Candyscape’s appeal is clear-cut – you buy the style, you buy the yacht. And at 62 metres, there is a lot of it.

In the 50 metre category, Edmiston has three top yachts covering
every possible requirement. Built in Holland at three of the world’s most
renowned shipyards these yachts read like a who’s who of contributors.

BUILT AT AMELS with exterior styling by Terence Disdale and interiors by Raymond
Langton, Malibu is one of the highly rated Tigre d’Or series.
A full displacement yacht, Malibu’s huge windows and pale toned interior create
a wonderfully bright, inspiring atmosphere. Interior design is in a smart, sophisticated
contemporary style – metropolitan chic. Exotic animal hide fabrics, macassar furniture
and stone coloured fabrics are used throughout.
Apart from a very large open sun deck, Malibu has both main and upper deck
saloons leading out to large dining terraces.
The master suite is forward on the main deck and includes an additional single
berth cabin suitable for children, staff or security. Two very large equal VIPs are on
the lower deck.
Malibu is a very attractive yacht with sleek curvaceous lines, distinctive oval
windows and a timeless appeal.

On her launch in 2005 this yacht achieved
something extraordinarily rare – a new design
style at Feadship. Long lean lines create a low
profile that flows from stem to stern.
Now renamed Issana, the World Superyacht award-winner was designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon. Nearly
800 GT of internal space is disguised by the sleek design concept.
Accommodation for ten guests includes a main deck master suite, two twins and two doubles both on the
lower deck. The large master bathroom is just one example of the commitment to quality, using cream marble
framed in nickel – a notoriously difficult metal to use.
What sets Issana apart and justifies her price is the quality of construction. This is Feadship at their very best.
It looks simple but the degree of difficulty is extreme and the result is a yacht of flawless quality. This was the
most technically complex yacht the shipyard had built with many systems pioneered (let alone custom built) for
this yacht alone. An example is the polychromatic lighting throughout the interior.
Designed as a world cruiser with an informal layout, Issana has an open plan galley so that guests can see
and relate to the chef while food is prepared. The curvaceous sun deck is superbly laid out with considerable
shaded dining space as well as the Jacuzzi sunbathing terraces that you would expect. Interior style is elegant,
cool, calm and understated – as far from gloss and glitz as possible – with the accent on earth tones and muted

colours: linen and silk walls, mother of pearl and burr walnut panelling.
Even by Feadship standards Issana is a special yacht easily able to cruise the world and bring the atmosphere
of a beach villa to every port she visits.

IZUMI Of all the sports yachts on the market Izumi demonstrates why only two are from the PJ120 series. Her aluminium hull is finished in silver with black detailing
and wraparound tinted windows. The minimalist interior features wenge floorboards and ebony panelling. Seven guests sleep in a master, two equal VIPs and one single
cabin. With a top speed of 30 knots and a 900nm range, she has been used privately by one owner and has less than 900 hours on her engines. The PJ 120 has great deck
space with the main saloon and dining area opening out to the huge cockpit. The flybridge can be sealed off for complete privacy and there is a foredeck tender garage.
Competitively priced, Izumi is one of the best sports yachts on the market. Available for viewing in Nice, now is the ideal time to buy and enjoy her all summer.

the upper deck is dedicated to the master suite with a private terrace. Aft of the main saloon is another attractive feature – a large conservatory with a dining area that
benefits from views through 270 degree windows. Mac Brew is a remarkable yacht in superb condition. With her €3million price reduction she should be top of any shortlist
for a yacht of this size and style.

SNOWBIRD Built at Hakvoort in Holland and delivered in late 2010, Snowbird has the attributes and atmosphere of a much larger yacht. With a steel
displacement hull, she has economic engines and superb seakeeping. An extremely high decorative specification includes teak, mahogany and suede panelling, leather,
parchment, shagreen and shell detailing. On the main deck, the 23 square metre full beam master suite is open plan – an unusual design that also benefits from very large
windows. Two queen sized cabins and two convertible twin cabins are on the lower deck. Snowbird’s interior style, build quality, specification and overall efficiency place her
in a premium category, perfect for someone who wants the very finest 40 metre yacht with 50 metre attributes.

St Barth’s Bucket, Rolex Super Cup, Antigua Classics, Palma Superyacht Cup – if you
are driven to race and relax, Edmiston has three top 43 metre competition yachts.
RANGER The recreation of Harold Vanderbilt’s design that won the 1937 America’s Cup, the new Ranger regularly wins wherever she races. With a steel hull that enables
considerably greater volume than any other J-Class, Ranger has been upgraded in just about every way possible within the new rules. New winches, boom, spreaders,
rigging and sails complement an elegantly crafted interior that totally fullfills the brief of being able to cruise in comfort as well as race in style. Available for charter either as

a guest within the racing team or as a cruising yacht, Ranger is the ultimate ‘J’ to own.
CANICA Canica has a very high specification driven by the owner’s desire to have an ultra competitive yacht maintained regardless of cost. Custom built at Baltic Yachts,
she has achieved 20 knots downwind. Slick and responsive, the light carbon composite hull is augmented with titanium metalwork, a Southern Spas carbon rig and lifting
keel. John Munford’s traditionally styled interior is both handsome and comfortable. Canica has the ideal balance of both racing and cruising capability.
HETAIROS Built from mahogany and teak to impeccable standards at Abeking & Rasmussen, Hetairos was designed by Bruce King with an Andrew Winch interior.
She has sailed the world – Alaska, the Amazon, New Zealand, Tahiti – with grace, speed and utter reliability. Continuously upgraded, her construction was overseen
by Jens Cornelsen and she has been a consistent race winner since launch. The elegantly tapered black mahogany hull is a real advantage – epoxy glued, it requires
minimum maintenance. With a new yacht delivered the owner is a keen seller and open to offers.
