connection.uk.com Cubbi assembly instructions Preparation The Cubbi product is delivered to you in component form. Before starting the assembly please separate the boxes into each finished piece. The labels on the boxes identify the finished piece that the components relate to, SCE………., etc. The fixings needed for the generic pieces of Cubbi are contained in fixing kits included with the product. All fixings will be located in a box marked as such. Please note as this is a general fixing kit, parts may be left over after assembly for your specific piece. The process to assemble the units starts from the floor up and the following images will assist. Specifications ordered Cubbi can be specified in either Bench or Task chair variant, with a number of positions, and the choice of this determines the assembly method used. Assembly of Cubbi screens The first step in any configuration is the assembly of the Cubbi screens. 1 The Cubbi screens come in various sizes dependent on the unit specified. On all units the process is the same. 1. With the screens unwrapped attach the fixing plates to ends of the screens. 2. The screens are then placed parallel to each other and the fixings secured into place. Please note that depending on the fabric the unit is upholstered in, the Pin will need to be screwed in further to ensure the join is tight. 3. Once the units have been joined tightly they are secured by the addition on a foot rail to the base on the screen. These are secured using the M8 button head bolts 4. Once attached the foot rails will hold the completed screens together and these can then be set aside for use later. 3/4 www.connection.uk.com 2 Bench variant Cubbi Depending on the configuration chosen the benches will either be single or double sided. Assembling the base and back where specified 1 1. 2 With the back unit inverted attach the leg rails to the units using the M8 button head bolts. 3 2. With the foot rails attached to both ends of the back, offer up the bench unit and secure with M8 button head bolts. 3. The unit can now be placed upright and stored to one side. Task chair variant Cubbi 1 The Task chair option utilises Plinths to create divisions between the seating positions. 1. Attach the foot plate and adjustable foot to the base of the unit and secure with M8 button head bolts. These are positioned at either end of the unit. 2. The plinth is now complete, and can be set aside. Please note that any power cables should be fed through the plinth before assembly. 2 www.connection.uk.com Attaching the workrails Irrespective of the variant the middle and separating screens are attached in the same way. 1. Insert the screen supports into the glides at the ends of the back or plinth units. Note that the arrow on the support needs to point downwards. When in position the support will click into the holder in the back/plinth. 1 2. Position the backs/plinths into the configuration required. This will be dependent on the configuration you have chosen. 3. Place the aluminium workrails over the screen supports. 4. When joining two workrails together, they are linked by inserting a joining piece between the two workrails. This is aligned and held in place by inserting two “C” clips. A carriage bolt is then passed through the linked piece into a nut, to hold the join securely. 2 3/4 The image above shows the format of the linking piece without the work rail. 5. If the workrail is to be linked with a table then you need to ensure that the tool rail plates with pins are inserted into the work rails before the end caps are attached. A tool rail plate must also be fitted to link the perpendicular back/plinths. The number of tool rail plates inserted will be dependent on the table / accessory being attached. 6. Connect the end caps to end of the work rails, aligning into the screen supports. These are secured using the smaller M8 button headed bolt. 6 www.connection.uk.com 5 Attaching the workrails 7. When connecting the workrail into the thinner Cubbi screen, then the end caps with through holes need to be used. A bolt passes through this hole to be fixed into the Cubbi screen. The Cubbi screen will be secured in two positions though the work rail levels. 7 8. When connecting the workrail into other work rails at right angles, then the shaped end cap should be used which again has a hole in the centre. This is secured to a tool plate in the work rail by the bolt pictured below. 8 9. Once all the first level of Workrails have been attached and secured, the screens can be lowered onto the supports. Please note where power units are fitted then the cables should be passed through the screens to the lower levels. 10. The second level of workrails is then attached and secured in exactly the same way. 11. The top screen can then be layered into place. Please note where power units are fitted then the cables should be passed through the screens to the lower levels. www.connection.uk.com 9/10/11 Fixing the tables 1. The table support brackets should be attached to the Cubbi screens using the fixings provided. A minimum of two brackets are required for each table, fitted to the internal sides of the screen. 1 2. The table is secured to the workrail using the pins and tool rail plates which had been previously inserted into the work rail. The table top will have the have cams inserted. 3. The table is offered up to the pins and these are inserted into the pre drilled holes which locate into the engineered cams within the table top. Once the table is in the correct position, the pins are secured by turning the cams clockwise. 2 3 Once all the tables have been attached, the unit is now complete. www.connection.uk.com Head Office Dogley Mills Penistone Road Fenay Bridge Huddersfield West Yorkshire HD8 0LE Tel: 01484 600 100 sales@connection.uk.com London Showroom 31 Great Sutton Street Clerkenwell London EC1V 0NA Tel: 020 7253 9877 www.connection.uk.com © Connection Seating Limited 2014.
