® ™ LITHOCHROME Color UniformityTintura Stain ® with LITHOCHROME USE ONLY COMPATIBLE temperature conditions exist, making ™ SCOFIELD SEALERS the use of waterborne SCOFIELD Colorwax Selectseal-W not practical. The To protect the surface, concrete flatwork and cementitious toppings stained with LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain must be sealed with a compatible Scofield sealer. For optimum performance and durability, waterbased SCOFIELD® Selectseal-W™ is the preferred sealer for use over LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain. Alternatively, the use of solvent-based SCOFIELD® Selectseal-S™ or SCOFIELD® Cureseal-S™ may be considered when humid or low Ideal for vertical surfaces or decorative accents. appropriate Scofield Tech-Data Bulletin should be read and understood completely before using, including the installation and approval of a test section as described. The use of any other sealers will cause performance failure of the stain and sealer system, producing unacceptable results in most cases. SCOFIELD Selectseal-W is recommended for use over LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain. It is a waterborne, environmentally friendly, one component, clear, acrylic-polyurethane sealer developed for use over antiqued, imprinted, or chemically stained porous concrete or cementitious surfaces. It provides a tough, low-maintenance coating that enhances the appearance and has excellent resistance to scratching, abrasion and discoloration. It is highly resistant to yellowing when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Surface appearance will vary from matte to semigloss depending on substrate porosity and number of coats applied. Two coats are required on surfaces stained with LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain. See Tech-Data Bulletin B-504 for full details. Other Sealers Where a solvent-based sealer is permitted, SCOFIELD Cureseal-S or SCOFIELD Selectseal-S may be used on concrete surfaces stained with LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain. SCOFIELD Cureseal-S may be used on Scofield cementitious toppings. Use of SCOFIELD solvent-based sealers may cause the shade of LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain to appear significantly darker. The sealer which is intended for use on the project should be used for the test section or mock-up. For full details refer to Tech-Data Bulletins. SCOFIELD COLORING SYSTEMS LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain may be applied over colored concrete or colored cementitious toppings for unique multicolored effects. When a single coat is applied, the underlying color of the substrate will modify the appearance of the stain. L ITHOCHROM E ® Ti nt ura™ Stain a penetrating, waterborne stain for coloring concrete and cementitious toppings COLOR CHART A-422.03 Scofield toppings are used for resurfacing structurally sound concrete to provide highly durable, low profile hard surfaces. SCOFIELD® Overlay™ is a self-leveling topping that produces a smooth finish preferred in many interior uses. Ash White SCOFIELD Overlay is a popular surface for staining because it intensifies some colors. SCOFIELD® Texturetop® is a durable, cementitious topping that can be imprinted, stenciled or troweled for unique interior and exterior surfaces. SCOFIELD Texturetop is available in three different formulations suited to different requirements: Stamp Grade, Stencil Grade or Trowel & Spray Grade. LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain is compatible for use with these toppings. LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain also is compatible for use on concrete previously colored with LITHOCHROME® Color Hardener or CHROMIX® Admixtures for ColorConditioned® Concrete. Removal of any contaminants, sealers or coatings is necessary to prepare the concrete to accept staining. See Tech-Data Bulletins for details. 1 800 800 9900 or www.scofield.com © L. M. What if there were no need for time-consuming residue removal? What if the stain were an environmentally friendly, waterborne formulation? FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY SA-LTS-08 The answer is here. LITHOCHROME® Tintura™ Stain ® ® ™ Pastel Colors The environmentally friendly, penetrating, waterborne Tintura system is formulated specifically to stain concrete or cementitious toppings. Unlike coatings or paints which often delaminate when used on concrete, LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain chemically bonds with cured concrete that is uncolored, color hardened, or integrally colored. It is also compatible for use with SCOFIELD® Overlay™ or SCOFIELD® Texturetop® cementitious toppings. The Tintura System includes companion sealers that are required for long-term durability and long-lasting colors. (See back cover.) LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain, developed for use on interior floors where a regular maintenance program will be followed, can also be used to improve the appearance of concrete walls, columns and other vertical decorative concrete features, and to create accent areas and graphics on horizontal exterior surfaces not subject to abrasion or heavy traffic. Either a translucent or an opaque appearance can be achieved with this unique, proprietary system. Up to three coats may be applied to increase color intensity. The standard colors range from pastel tints and natural earth tones to brilliant and vivid hues. LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain can be color-matched to the full range of Scofield colors, and, in addition, custom colors can be produced. The final installed appearance can vary depending on the color consistency, condition and porosity of the substrate and the cement and aggregates used. Application methods are efficient. The color is applied full strength and requires no neutralizing and no residue removal. It is VOC-compliant, low-odor, and easy to use. Prior to application, careful cleaning and substrate preparation are required to remove any contaminants, sealers or coatings that might interfere with adhesion. See Tech-Data Bulletin A-424 for full details. ™ L ITHOCHROM E Ti ntura S tain The LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain System Earth Tone Colors Vivid Colors 6011 Whisper Pink 2433 Pink Dawn 2004 Vivid Violet 4364 Razz-ma-tazz Red 1750 Evergreen 0510 Black 2610 Blue Haze 6007 Wheat Grain 2077 Mustard Yellow 2463 Kelly Green 2911 Meadow Green 1406 Old Hickory 3950 Plum Parfait 0289 Azure Blue 5566 Zenith Blue 1108 Bright Orange 1516 Devon Brown 4663 Saxon Bronze 2626 Light Gray 5131 Spring Green 2055 Toucan Green 1122 Capri Teal 2047 Autumn Honey 5050 Spanish Tile Use the total Scofield System to eliminate guesswork, ensure compatibility and improve performance long-term. Examples shown represent three coats of LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain applied over uncolored, medium gray concrete, then sealed with two coats of SCOFIELD® Selectseal-W™. The color effects produced may differ significantly from that shown on the color chart. A representative test section should be prepared for each individual concrete surface prior to general application. A somewhat translucent appearance is normal. The appearance of variation may be increased depending upon the evenness of the application technique. To reduce variations in color and increase opacity, a base coat of uncolored LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain without color added may be applied, followed by one or two coats tinted with the chosen color. For optimum performance, surfaces stained with LITHOCHROME Tintura Stain require initial application of a compatible sealer along with periodic maintenance and resealing. Water-based SCOFIELD Selectseal-W is the preferred sealer for most uses. See back page for more information.
