We have a number of great online choices for you, some of which lead to certifications that you can use to advance your career! Whether you want to learn how to take a better picture before you head out on vacation, or make yourself a better employee in your job, Community Education can help. In person and online classes will help you have a fun, AND productive Summer 2015! Tuition assisted classes are not for college credit, and have no grades or transcripts. But certifications are issued by various organizations, and these classes might just be right for you! The catalog has an added bonus this summer: you might want to apply to Las Positas College and enroll in a for-credit class over the summer. If you are home from college, or you just need to have those credits to impress your boss, there is a listing of summer offerings for you to take as well. Just make sure and follow the directions to apply to the college and enroll! You can take whatever you like, and you don’t have to be pursuing a degree. See page 23 for instructions on enrolling in for-credit summer classes.” “The Best way to predict your Future is to create it.” — Abraham Lincoln In Learning, Frances DeNisco Program Coordinator Looking for Fencing Camp for Kids? WHY are there no fencing camps for kids 13 and younger this summer? Coach Sophie Rheinheimer is involved with the training of her competitive fencers who will be participating in Summer Nationals this July. For the past year, over twenty of Coach Sophie’s fencers have competed in four qualifying Regional Youth Circuit tournaments. All of these fencers started in her Beginning Fencing for Kids classes, and with time and hard work, have progressed to the competitive level. Summer Nationals is a major tournament that will draw hundreds of fencers from across the United States to compete in age-related events in foil, epee, and saber. This year, this national event is being held at the San Jose Convention Center from June 27-July 6. All of the Las Positas fencers who have qualified will be competing in foil and epee events on July 4, 5, and 6. This is an exciting time for our fencing program! Congratulations to all!
