Mark your calendar now for CONSECRATION SUNDAY on October
26th. This special day will be the conclusion of our all-church study
of Mark Batterson’s Wild Goose Chase and an opportunity for us to
dedicate our financial pledges for 2015. Note – there will be no
8:15 service that day.
You will soon receive an estimate of giving card for 2015. Please
prayerfully consider what you will give to support the various
ministries of our church. These estimates help us plan what we
can do concretely to reach out in the name of Jesus Christ.
Mark Batterson writes: “To follow the Holy Spirit, the Wild Goose,
is to give as God gives. The truth is, when you give beyond your
ability, God will bless you beyond your ability. No, God is not a slot
machine; but if your motives are right, the law of measure kicks in:
‘With the measure you use, it will be measured to you’” (Luke
6:38).
What Mark says is so true. When we step out in faith, we learn
quickly that we can’t out-give God. It’s impossible! Our Consecration Day worship will be a service of celebration with inspiring
music and witness. Following the service will be a free luncheon
featuring fried chicken with all the fixin’s. This is a time for us all to
gather together and celebration the love of God and the fellowship
we have as the Village UMC.
Until later….grace and peace to you! Rik

Bring a carved pumpkinprize for winner!
It's a time to welcome the neighbors
in our community. On Sunday afternoon, October 26, from 3 to 5, we'll
have a really fun time with free food,
children's games, lots of candy,
music, a costume parade, taking
pictures of people in their costumes,
inflatables and a prize for the winning
carved pumpkin.
Let's all be a part of this exciting
event. Candy and small prizes can be
donated to a box outside of Martha's
office. Volunteers are needed to
welcome our guests, help with games
and assist in other ways. To volunteer,
contact Kathryn Witzel at 405-5037075. Cash donations are welcome
and will be used for supplies needed.
Questions? Contact Martha or
Julie at the church.
Outreach Ministries
Cinnamon Rolls will be baked this
Saturday and sold on Sunday,
October 19. These freeze beautifully,
so buy some extra! You never know when you
might have a cinnamon roll emergency!
Martha Circle will meet on Tuesday,
October 21, at 10:00 a.m.
Ruth Circle will meet at 1:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, October 21.
The Manna Bag project
urgently needs food
donations so that no one
is turned away if they need
us. We fill bags with canned
fruits and vegetables,
canned meats and soups,
pasta, juice, peanut butter,
and crackers. The next time
you’re at the store, buy a couple of extra items
and place them in the bags marked “Manna
Bags” outside Fellowship Hall. Thank you!
On Saturday, November 1 at 12:00 Noon, the
UMW will host their annual Tasting Luncheon
We are collecting winter coats
and Book Review. Tickets for the luncheon
for boys and girls at Johnson
are $8.00 and may be purchased from UMW
and Britton Elementary Schools,
Cirlce Leaders. Child Care will be provided by
grades Pre-K through Sixth,
reservation only, and the deadline for reserving
sizes 4-12. Please place your
child care is Wednesday, October 29th. Contact
Julie Whitson to make your child care reserva- donation in the bags marked “Coats for Kids”

Youth Ministries
Our annual Fall gathering at
Tom Huber’s will be Sunday,
November 9th. Sponsored by
Village Youth, everyone is
invited to this fun evening of hot dogs,
s’mores, and best of all, a bonfire! Please
bring either a bag of chips or a dessert to
share. Contact Phil Brooks for more details—
405-464-8872.
VUMC At The Movies!
This Saturday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m., take advantage
of the opportunity to watch The Lego Movie. This is a fun
movie with a good story and lots of laughs. Curl up with
your blankets, pillows, or sleeping bags and enjoy the
free popcorn and lemonade. Everyone is invited, so bring
a friend and enjoy the show!
Sad news—the refrigerator in the
Youth Room has cooled its last
soda. If you happen to have an
extra taking up space around your
house, and would be willing to
donate it, we will happily accept!
Contact Phil Brooks at
405-464-8872.
Cardinals and Pines
There’s still time to donate to Village UMW
Missions and have the opportunity to receive
the beautiful Cardinals and Pines quilt, on
display in Fellowship Hall. To include your
name, simply purchase a ticket for $1 from
any UMW member. On November 1, at the
UMW Tasting Luncheon, the recipient of the
quilt will be announced. (See page 2 for more
information about the Tasting Luncheon.)
You need not be present to accept!
