Loading a map from MapSend TOPO 3D USA or MapSend DirectRoute V3 to a Triton GPS This document is designed for customers who replace their eXplorist with a Triton GPS. NOTE: MapSend DirectRoute will not provide turn by turn directions on Triton GPS. The address database in MapSend DirectRoute and MapSend Topo 3D USA is not searchable on the Triton GPS. To utilize this document please: • Have VantagePoint installed. VantagePoint can be installed from the CD packaged with your Triton GPS (internet connection is required). • Connect your Triton GPS to your PC after VantagePoint is installed so the necessary drivers are setup for the Triton GPS. 1. Open MapSend. Create a region on the large map using the red “create region box” tool. Name the region. Click OK. Page 1 2. Save the region to your hard drive by clicking on the “Regions” tab then selecting “Upload to GPS…” 3. Select the option to Store on Hard Drive. Page 2 5. MapSend will ask for the Target GPS unit serial number. The Triton GPS serial number can be located by pressing the Triton’s Menu button, select View, select Settings, select About. In the About screen select Version. On the Version screen you will see the Triton serial number. DROP THE LEADING ZERO OF THE TRITON SERIAL NUMBER WHEN YOU TYPE IT IN THE TARGET GPS UNIT SERIAL NUMBER SECTION IN MAPSEND. Click Next. 6. Click Finish. Page 3 7. The map will begin the process of compiling and storing on your Hard Drive. 8. Once the process of saving the map to your hard drive is complete open VantagePoint. Connect your Triton to your PC and power it on. In VantagePoint select the “Library” tab then select the “Browse” button. Page 4 9. Click the “Add Map…” button. 10. VantagePoint will look for map files in a default location called “My GPS.” Click the Look in drop arrow to locate the map file saved from MapSend. Page 5 11. Select your Local Disk (C:) drive. 12. Select the “Program Files” folder. Page 6 13. Select the “Magellan” folder. 14. Select the “MapSend TOPO 3D USA “folder or “MapSend DirectRoute” folder. Page 7 15. Select the “Export” folder. 16. Select the “Images” folder. Page 8 17. In the Images folder you will see map files that have been stored on your Hard Drive. Select the map file that was created for your Triton GPS. Click Open. 18. The map file will be “successfully authorized.” Page 9 19. Click on the “My GPS” tab. Click on the “Browse” button. Select the detailed map file on the VantagePoint side (left side) to transfer to the Triton GPS. Once you have selected the detailed map, click the blue arrow pointing right to start the transferring process to your Triton GPS. Once the process of transferring the map is complete you can disconnect the Triton to view your map. Page 10
