WELCOME
BIENVENUE
ICSO is the largest meeting worldwide of experts
working in all disciplines of Optical Instrumentation,
Optoelectronic and Photonic Technologies
for Space Applications. The objective of this
conference is to bring together the Space Optics
Community and exchange information on new
instruments developments (Imagers, Radiometers,
Spectrometers, Lidars…) and ideas on the Research,
Development, Qualification and Flight Experience of
using optical technologies for space missions.
Technology experts meet Mission experts to
address the lessons learnt from past developments
and identify the next significant developments in
employing lightwave technologies and techniques
used in all types of Space Missions.
New in 2012 : ICSO and ICSOS (International
Conference on Space Optical Systems and
applications) will be co-located in Ajaccio Corsica.
ICSOS is a conference dedicated principally to
intersatellite laser links. Joint sessions with an
emphasis on optical laser telecommunication will be
held.
ICSO 2012 is the 9th conference of the series coorganised by CNES and ESA every two years and
follows the ones recently held in Rhodes, Greece in
2010 and Toulouse, France in 2008.
ICSO maintains a permanent web-based resource
where the Proceedings of all previous ICSO
conferences (from 1991 to nowdays) are held.

ICSO 2012 Chair
ICSO est le plus grand rassemblement international d’experts
travaillant dans toutes les disciplines de l’instrumentation
optique, des technologies opto- électroniques et photoniques
pour les applications spatiales. L’objectif de ce colloque est
de réunir la communauté « Optique spatiale » pour favoriser l’échange d’informations et d’idées sur les nouveaux
développements d’instruments (imageurs, radiomètres,
spectromètres, Lidars…), sur la recherche & développement,
la qualification et le retour d’expérience en vol des technologies optiques développées pour les missions spatiales. C’est
l’occasion pour les experts technologues de rencontrer les
experts Mission, de tirer des enseignements sur les développements passés et d’ identifier de nouveaux développements
intéressants basés sur les technologies et techniques optiques
utilisées dans tous les types de missions spatiales.
Nouveau en 2012 : une session spécifique ICSOS (International Conference on Space Optical Systems and Applications)
sera organisée au sein du colloque ICSO, elle sera dédiée aux
systèmes de communications par lien optique avec un accent
particulier sur les technologies laser.
ICSO 2012 est le 9e colloque d’une série co-organisée tous
les deux ans par le CNES et l’ESA, il fait suite à ceux très
récemment organisés à Rhodes, Grèce en 2010 et à Toulouse,
France en 2008. Les actes des colloques ICSO précédents
sont archivés depuis 1991 et sont accessibles à l’adresse

Welcome
Message
Space laser communication systems are very attractive
for high-data-rate satellite communications. This year,
it is a great honor to hold the International Conference
on Space Optical Systems and Applications 2012
(ICSOS 2012) as the Joint Conference of the ICSO
2012 (International Conference on Space Optics)
and the ICSOS 2012. On behalf of the organizing
committee of ICSOS, I would like to express my
sincere appreciation to the organizing committee of
ICSO and my warmest welcome to all the participants
in our joint conference.
ICSOS is held at Asia, US, and Europe, and deals
with free-space optical systems, especially for laser
communications including terrestrial, near-Earth and
deep space areas. ICSO covers the general area for
space optics; however ICSO is held in Europe only.
Thus, it is really worthwhile to collaborate with each
other globally between ICSOS and ICSO. The joint
conference will provide a forum for the exchange of
information with emphasis on new developments,
services and applications in each field. It is a great
opportunity to share the latest presentations from
the other countries and discuss with your research
colleagues and professionals.
The venue is located at one of the nicest spots in
France. The organizing committee looks forward to
seeing you in the conference, and making your visit a
memorable and enjoyable one in Corsica.

Les présentateurs devront se présenter à la Preview
une demie-journée avant leur présentation pour tester et
télécharger (via PC, USB, CD, DVD) leur fichier Power
Point ou PDF.

Sessions poster
Poster sessions will be held on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday
10 of October from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm.
You must display your poster as soon as you arrive. You will
find your reserved place by referring to the number
on your paper. Authors are asked to stand by their posters
during the sessions allocated for this purpose, so that they
can answer questions.
Each poster board measures 90 cm wide by 220 cm high
(portrait format). We propose the A0 format for your poster
(84 cm × 119 cm). The boards are PVC-made, and we
recommend using double-sided tape (available on site).
Make sure your documents are not too heavy and avoid
laminated plastic or cardboard-backed sheets. You will not
be able to use pins or drawing pins.
