The era of traditional capitalism by which owners and managers are exclusively committed to maximizing business profits is gradually replaced by a more social trend that that expects corporations to consider broader interests. Surprisingly, perhaps, ancient Jewish business law sources take into account such considerations much earlier than the modern CSR approach. SUNDAY 9th MARCH Location: Azalea by Rabbi Levi Garelik Location: Azzurra 18 19 Lecture (2) Ethics of Competition Over Licensing in Jewish Law Competition is usually treated from the angle of sellers i.e., the supply side. Although less distinct, competition prevails on the demand side as well. Jewish law sets ethical boundaries on competition among buyers, which are at least partially based on an economic rational. These boundaries were frequently excercised in cases where two or more parties contested over a given franchise or license, especially in the brewery industry in Eastern Europe. Economic concepts and principles relating to such situations will be highlighted. 10:45 – 12:00 Lecture (1) Why is Madonna Studying Kabbalah? Is the diva of decadence making a mockery of mysticism? Once a favorite destination for Europe’s rich and famous, beautiful villas and acclaimed hotels were built for their enjoyment. Today, those establishments echo the Stresa of times bygone. With its lovely gardens and well-kept paths, the palm trees surrounding many of Stresa’s estates contrast beautifully with the evergreen forests covering the mountains behind. The province consists of three islands: Isola dei Pesactori, Isola Madre, and the famous Isola Bella, so named for Isabella, the wife of the Count Carlo Borromeo, who built palaces and gardens in her honour. Stresa features the Funivia – a cable car ride that takes visitors up to the Gardens, and then further, to the summit of Monterone. The awesome ride takes one up nearly 1500 meters, and offers breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore and its surroundings. 26 The beauty all around, the perfect climate, and the unique character of the town all make Stresa an ideal location for a luxurious getaway. information general information There are also many trails that pass some of the quaint villages situated on the lower part of the mountain, and lead up to the summit. 27 floor plans WC CHARLESTON RESTAURANT Hall Reception WC SALA AZALEA Reception HALL Lift Terrazza/Terrace Information Center Lift SALA EXECUTIVE wc Bar SALA ORTENSIA wc SALA PRESIDENT SALA MIMOSA SALA GARDENIA CLUB HOUSE 28 SALA RODODENDRO A SALA AZZURRA Ground Floor -1 (Lower Ground) information information SALA RODODENDRO B 29 Galleria / Gallery Hotel Regina Palace C.so Umberto I, 33 28838 Stresa Tel. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .+39 0323 936 936 Fax . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .+39 0323 936 666 Staff Phone numbers Staff. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .+32 485 496 494 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .+972 50 668 5770 European Jewish Study Network Tel. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .+32 2 233 1854 Fax . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .+32 2 233 1855 Email . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . info@ejsn.eu 30 SALA TIFFANY Tourist Office Piazza Marconi, 16 28838 Stresa Tel. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . +39 0323 31308 Other Numbers Police. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 113 Ambulance . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 118 Fire. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 115 Ground Floor / -1 Car Service VIAGGI BORRONI (Stresa) Tel. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . +39 0323 30251 information information Giardino segreto/ Secret garden wc wc “La Rotonda” Ramp HALL NEW LIBERTY NEW LIBERTY KITCHEN Asc.
