Since 1893, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA has offered safe and fun activities supervised by caring, responsible and enthusiastic staff. We’ve earned the reputation as the most recognized and trusted summer camp provider in our city. From Y Outdoor Day Camps to Y Neighbourhood Day Camps featuring aquatics, crafts, adventures and outtrips, the YMCA-YWCA has the right day camp experience for children and youth of all ages – from preschoolers to teens. Of all the experiences life has to offer, camp is one of the most rewarding and enduring. Camp teaches children the meaning of friendship and the responsibility of community. Camp builds skills and boosts self-esteem. Simply put, the Y camp experience lasts a lifetime! 1 General Information We Build Strong Kids, Strong Families, Strong Communities YMCA-YWCA camps are designed to provide new and challenging experiences for each camper on a daily basis. Our four core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – form the foundation of all YMCA-YWCA programs, and are integral to all aspects of camp. At Y camps, we provide a supportive environment that creates opportunities for campers to reach their fullest potential. Y Camps are for Everyone Y camps are for every child and youth in our community. That’s why we’re dedicated to ensuring that as many campers as possible continue to have a YMCA-YWCA experience. We provide financial help for those who otherwise couldn’t afford the experience and integrate children with special needs while giving them one-on-one support. The Y is for everyone regardless of race, religion, creed, ability or economic circumstances. YMCA-YWCA Staff The Y camp staff team will provide your child with the experience of a lifetime. Our staff are selected for their competence, experience, friendliness and enthusiasm. All staff are trained in Standard First Aid/CPR, YMCA Healthy Child Development, risk management and more. We also educate our camp counsellors and instructors on camper care, the needs of children, child guidance, safety and emergency procedures, group development, programming, and a wide variety of other areas to ensure the best possible experience for your child. Y Outdoor Day Camps Y Outdoor Day Camps provide the opportunity for children and youth to engage in outdoor activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment while acquiring new skills, building self-confidence and establishing lasting friendships. If you’re looking to add outdoor adventure, canoeing and kayaking, climbing walls, high and low ropes courses, swimming, horseback riding or environmental investigations to your camp experience, then check out our Y Outdoor Day Camps. Y Neighbourhood Day Camps Keeping kids of all ages active and engaged in gymnasiums, swimming pools and activity rooms at local YMCA-YWCA facilities or schools, Y Neighbourhood Day Camps are a great way to spend the days of summer full of play, fun and friendships. Campers can enjoy a range of traditional day camp activities, themes and outtrips. Here, memories are made close to home.
