Sodick-AQ series Large Wire EDM
Large Capacity Linear Motor Driven CNC Wire EDM AQ750L AQ750LH AQ900L AQ1200L create your future Standard Features - Ensure Continuous and Unattended Production The design of the machine compliments the linear motor drives and is ideal for automation. Jumbo Feeder The wire supply device can fit up to a 20 kg wire bobbin. This enables long periods of uninterrupted machining. High Speed, Large Capacity, Linear Motor Driven Wire Cut EDM High Speed Generator The LN2W high speed generator is standard on the Sodick AQ Series. Both brass and coated wire are compatible with this advanced generator. Low Maintenance Tank Seal The tank seal flushing function enables the machines capability for high precision stable machining. This function also makes for easier maintenance and extends the life of the seal. In response to the growing demands for large dies for items; such as, large flat screen TV's, this series is designed specifically for machining large size dies for display panel components, as well as, those for aerospace, power generation and automotive parts such as, turbine hubs, aerofoil vanes, instrument panels and bumpers. The AQ750L/AQ750LH/AQ900L/AQ1200L use linear motors on all four axes for smooth and accurate motion along all axes. Linear motors are developed and manufactured by Sodick. Incorporating the linear motor drive system, Sodick wire-cut EDMs have enabled difficult machining operations that were not possible with conventional ball screw-type EDMs. The linear motor-driven EDMs, eliminate the need for ball screws by incorporating non-contact drive technology. Use of the Linear Motor removes the deterioration in machining accuracy caused by worn ball screws. Sodick is so confident of the durability and accuracy of their machines, that a 10 year positioning accuracy guarantee if offered. Sodick is the only Manufacturer to offer a 10 year positioning accuracy guarantee. Lower ecological impact due to energy saving technologies is incorporated in all Sodick products. Super Jet AWT The automatic wire threader (Super Jet AWT) with thermal cutting device is specifically designed for automated, unattended, multicavity runs. Flexible Work Holding Multiple workpieces can be set up at the same time by using the standard moveable rail on the AQ750L/ AQ750LH/AQ900L. This is an option on the AQ1200L. L-Cut (Wire Chopper) Using the Wire Chopper, the ejected wire is chopped into small pieces for easy disposal. Multi-Filtration System Vertical Sliding Tank Door An automatic and ergonomic vertical drop down tank door increases work space; making access for work set-up even easier. An extensive improvement in filtration capability makes high speed and accurate machining easier to achieve. Core Technologies Developed by Sodick for the Highest Level of Manufacturing Starting with the development of electrical discharge circuits, Sodick has continued to pursue the highest possible level of accuracy, speed and versatility in machining. As a result, the technology for CNC units, fine ceramics, linear motors, motion controllers and the electrical discharge power supply have been established as core technologies for Sodick. CNC Unit + Discharge Unit The AQ Series features Sodick’s latest LN power supply unit capable of high speed, high precision and high efficiency machining. A CNC system based on the modern control theory is used in conjunction with the LN Series and achieves outstanding results. Performance of the electrical discharge unit is achieved by controlling the method and duration of the energy pulses. Linear Motor Drive + Motion Controller Sodick's linear motors are a direct-drive, vibration-free device which features unrivalled acceleration, positioning accuracy and no backlash. The linear motors high dynamic responsive stability for precision machining and performance will not diminish over time and remain maintenance-free. Linear motors achieve even greater performance thanks to the Sodick motion controller which has been perfected over the years. NC Unit Gap Detection Motor Driver Workpiece Workpiece Motor Sodick Motion Controller With a linear motor drive system, there is no mechanical connection between the linear motor drives and the table; unlike ball-screw drives, which can incur costly repairs in the event of a collision. Automatic Machining Condition Selection A database within the machine contains details on the best conditions for a particular wire diameter, workpiece material or workpiece thickness and ensures the best possible machining results. The operator can make use of the extensive conditions provided by Sodick or add their own conditions to suit unusual applications. Your Sodick Control: For Every Day All Day Support Designing cutting form tools using 2D Form Design is made possible by the LN Series Control. Varying top and bottom contours, involute gears, coreless forms (pocket machining) and free-form curves can be designed easily. Furthermore, data created in DXF format can easily be imported and converted into a machining program. Linear Scale Linear Motor Sodick's anti-collision circuit protects the machine from accidental collisions. The circuit constantly monitors voltage in the axes drives. When voltage exceeds a pre-determined load, the machine will stop and give the operator an error message. 2D Form Design Wire Wire Collision Protection Encoder Gap Detection Sodick Motion Controller NC Unit Control Features: LN Series Ball-screw Conventional Ball Screw Drive Remote Monitoring Ceramic Components The AQ Series is constructed using ceramic components for the work-stand table and other critical parts, all of which are built to ensure high precision machining with better electrical insulation, abrasion resistance and rigidity. Ceramics are ideal for high precision machining due to their low thermal expansion coefficient (less than one third than that of cast iron), high rigidity and resistance to ageing. No need to return at night or on weekends to check the status of the machine. A standard LAN interface allows operators to monitor the main functions of the machine by accessing the control remotely.
