Zortman and the James Kipp Recreation Area along the Missouri River are exceptional sites on the Montana NE Plains Birding Trail. Nearby is excellent access to a variety of wildlife viewing and hunting. Check at the Buckhorn Store for supplies and licenses for the immediate area. Zortman is a premier site on A visit to Zortman isn’t complete without a tour of “Boot Hill”, a picturesque hillside cemetery full of area history. Access the The historic Zortman Church, located high on a hill in the island mountain community of Zortman in north Central Montana. This paved road is a scenic 9 mile drive. Please note the pavement Beaver Creek area ends less than 1 mile from the Zortman town site, but there is an improved gravel road into the community. Fourchette Bay Turn west off of US 191 at mile Missouri Breaks marker 111 onto “7 Mile Road”. This road is National Monument improved gravel and Auto Tour & provides a straight, less Elk Viewing Area mountainous Kipp Recreation Area South to Lewistown, Yellowstone NP or Billings, Montana The Zortman Motel located at 302 Main with neighboring auto garage and large conference facility features 25 guest rooms.
