The Salvation Army PLUS • The naughtiest boy at Christmas • Puzzles When Christmas came to the kid on earth By Lauren Martin L ewis was the naughtiest kid in the world. Every Christmas he wrote a long list of all the toys he wanted. But one Christmas he was told about a gift better than anything you could find in a toy store. It was called the gift of Jesus. Now Lewis didn’t know what a “Jesus” was, but he simply had to have one. But on Christmas morning, it didn’t arrive. Lewis threw a tantrum. “I got my bike, I got my robot, I got my glitter pencils, where is my Jesus? WHERE IS MY JESUS? I WANT MY JESUS!” Lewis yelled and yelled until, suddenly, he felt a pop, and his voice disappeared. He also noticed his house was empty, and when he opened the front door he saw that his town had disappeared and was replaced by green pastures. Lewis then saw a group of shepherds with their sheep. Just then, there was a flash of light in the sky. Lewis looked up and saw a most beautiful sight – an angel hovering above the shepherds. “Don’t be afraid,” the angel said. “I bring you good news! The Saviour – a baby who will save the world – has been born today in Bethlehem!” The shepherds raced down the hillside towards a little town and went inside a stable. And there, lying in a manger, was a little baby boy. His mother called him Jesus. “Jesus!” Lewis thought, “This is the Jesus I was told about – the best Christmas present ever!” Memories from his school scripture class suddenly filled Lewis’ head. Jesus, the baby born in a manger. Jesus, the son of God. Jesus, sent to earth to show us how to love. And finally, Jesus, dying on a cross to take away the sin of all who believed. “WOW, I get it,” Lewis exclaimed, his voice reappearing. He opened his eyes and found himself back on the floor of his home, his mother peering down at him in fright. “It’s OK mum,” he said, giving her a hug. “I’m so sorry for my behaviour.” “I realise now that Christmas isn’t all about the things that you get. The best present in the world really is Jesus. He has powers, and he can save the world, and he saved ME!” U W I H A E C H E I O U P D O V E J N B A S O F I E B E T H L E H E M W D S A K I B M E A O L U E I U A A D E H P D O E A K A P S U P A T O E M W I K A B U O L I A U B I O U R H A U S V E PUZZLE SOLUTIONS D G I P K O F E B U P I U For more puzzles and Christmas decoration templates, go to salvos.org.au/Christmas CO NNECT THE DOTS Connect the dots from one to 10 to reveal the picture below.
