THE BOSE® TriPort® TACTICAL HEADSET Military studies show that reducing noise improves mission effectiveness. High noise levels in wheeled armored vehicles make communicating a challenge, potentially affecting situational awareness. In addition, noise exposure during long-duration operations can induce fatigue. Bose introduces the TriPort tactical headset with active noise reduction. Building on more than ten years of experience providing combat vehicle crewman headsets for tank and tracked vehicle applications, our proven technology is now available for wheeled armored vehicles. w TriPort headset acoustic design allows for a narrow profile earcup with full-spectrum noise reduction. w Fits comfortably under a range of combat helmets. w Up to 33% lighter than conventional tactical headsets. w U.S. Army tests have demonstrated a 21% increase in voice intelligibility with Bose active noise reduction headsets. 53642_2_C_007901_TTH_ACH_SS.qxd 8/24/09 11:28 AM Page 2 THE BOSE® TriPort® TACTICAL HEADSET The TriPort tactical headset is a lightweight, comfortable, active noise reduction communications headset designed to fit under protective ballistic helmets. The headset features narrow-profile earcups, a small boom microphone, a rugged stainless steel napeband, and a nylon helmet strap. Talk-through allows the user to listen to the ambient environment when desired. All switches, the AA alkaline talk-through battery, and the protective mask interface connector are located on the compact cable-mounted control module. Proprietary dual-seal foam ear cushions Ballistic nylon straps may be worn over or under helmet Service and support: All major subassemblies are field-replaceable. To support depot-level repair stations, Bose offers additional maintenance programs. Lightweight, narrow-profile earcups Technical Information Operational features: - Headset can be donned and doffed without removing helmet. - Cable/boom microphone assembly is replaceable and can be positioned on left or right side. - Proprietary ear cushions ensure comfort, durability and consistent attenuation performance. Cushions are field-replaceable and compatible with ballistic eye protection. Weight (on head): 16 oz. Spring force (on head): Approx. 1.8 lbf. Push-to-talk (PTT): 3-position (on/off/momentary) located on the control module. ANR power: 5.5 to 32 VDC (provided by intercom or other external source). Fail-safe operation allows two-way communications with loss of voltage input or talk-through power. Talk-through: A user-selectable, binaural feature that permits monitoring of the ambient sound environment. Output is limited to 85 dBA SPL to protect user. One AA alkaline battery provides 240 hours operational time and is housed in the control module. Operating noise environment: Up to 95 dBA SPL. Earphone sensitivity: 106 ± 3dB SPL for a 0 ± 0.1 dBV input. Input impedance: 500 ohms. Temperature: -40°C to +65°C operating, -57°C to +71°C storage.
