WALL2WALL SITE 1 Recycling Works MURAL COMPETITION 2015 Location: 45 Parramatta Rd, Annandale Additional Information: Recycling Works has been operating 15 years as a bric a brac shop. Prior to this it was a plumber’s yard. When entering this shop you could be reminded of searching for old treasures in your great grandparents attic and the vivid memories these objects bring to mind, or the joy of finding that treasure you lost and have now found. For the footpath area of the mural site, the artist will need to incorporate the existing rainbow design into the work. The rainbow was painted some years ago by Tom who works in the shop, who is also an artist. The laneway is often used for car access so the footpath design will need to be simple and quick to execute, preferably with a quick drying aerosol. This also means that when painting the mural the artist will need to flexible and move as required to allow cars through when necessary. 1 2 Wall size: 3m window 7m 1 2 2m 2m SITE 2 Bald Faced Stag Hotel Location: 345 Parramatta Rd, Leichhardt Additional Information: This mural site is located at the rear of the Bald Faced Stag Hotel next to the beer garden. The Tooheys Brothers even developed their famous logo from within the walls. However in the early years it may have been known by several different names. Bald Faced Stag was originally Colonial late Victorian Italianate and it has changed it’s architectural style four times. Now a two story brick structure with ornamented Parapet in the Inter War Free classical style. Original Bald Faced Stag one of Sydney’s Earliest Pubs c1830 Corner of Balmain Road and Parramatta Road.
