About The Whitford
Charitable Fund Golf Classic
Nearly forty years ago Whitford Country Club
began its involvement with the Philadelphia
Section of the PGA hosting a tournament
sponsored by Westlakes Plastic. That event
continued for thirty years. For the next several
years various sponsors provided support for the
event which coupled with golf activities, generated
funds for various organizations such as
First-Tee and The Make A Wish Foundation.
While Whitford Country Club “hosted” the event it
was never an “owned” event. With the vision and
commitment of a small group of our committed
members, a new direction was charted - one that
gives our membership the opportunity to give
something back to the community in which we live
and work. What emerged from that vision was the
concept of The Whitford Golf Classic, an event
that will grow and prosper, for the future
enjoyment of our membership, but with the
singular goal of “giving back.”
We look forward to you playing a part in this vision
as we begin a new tradition at Whitford Country
Club - The Whitford Golf Classic.
