Pedestrian signs are mounted underneath an awning or on a frame attached to the exterior wall of a building and are oriented perpendicular to the street. As their name indicates, they are intended to be viewed primarily by pedestrians from the sidewalk. The Land Development Standards require that the bottom of any pedestrian sign shall be at least 8 feet above any pedestrian walkway. Several downtown signs do not meet this minimum height requirement. If your business displays a pedestrian sign, please check its height and raise it accordingly if it does not meet the8-foot minimum height standard.
