When sewing embroidered collar, before cutting out, make decorations on a rectangular piece of fabric, already fused with interlining. Each of the two decorated parts, embroider individually. Rectangle of stiffened fabric should be bigger than the collar pattern, so that after embroidering the amount of fabric will be enough to choose the optimum position of the embroidery on the collar. Embroidery should be on the bottom of the rectangle. The designs on both parts of the collar should be mirror images. (Fig. 1) 2. When embroidering collar, it is good to prepare a pattern of translucent tracing paper. After applying the pattern to the embroidered material, we see the embroidery, which will help us choosing the most appropriate position of the design on cutting out part of collar. 4. Cut out shapes with scissors after the traced lines. Then trace pattern twice more (mirror image) on the fabric without the embroidery and interlining, then cut out. You should have two mirrored parts with embroidery and two mirrored parts without embroidery. (Fig. 2) ollar rc Pop you Figure 1 3. After choosing the position of cut out on embroidered fabric, attach the pattern to the material by pins and trace it with disappearing pen or chalk. Repeat all with the second decorated part of the collar. Figure 2 Swadzim, ul. Poznańska 54, 62-080 Tarnowo Podgórne, Poland, phone +48 61 8 950 950, mail@strima.com 3 TECHNICS AT HAND Figure 3 5. Embroidered part with smooth part fold right sides together and sew, making sure that seam has equal distance from the edge - very helpful will be foot for sewing patchwork. The edge that is closest to the neck is left open. (Fig. 3) The same applies to the second part of the collar. 6. Cut edges closer to the seam, especially at the rounded collar lines. 7. 8. Iron both turned to the right side parts of the collar - before it is good to check on another piece of fabric, at which temperature they can be safely ironed. Be careful with alcantara - for safety it can be iron through a cloth or with the use of PTFE shoe for iron. 9. Cut about 115 cm of binding (in this project a satin binding, 3 cm width, has been used). Put two parts of collar on the table, so they touch each other with tie point and rear part. Leaving about 45 cm of binding to tying-up, unbend factory bend and attach it right side to right side of the collar - fix with basting stitch or pins along the open edge, passing to the second part of the collar and continue until the end of the open edge. At the beginning and the end, free pieces of binding should be left - they will be tying of the collar. ollar rc Pop you Turn to the right side, pushing out the material at the seams. Swadzim, ul. Sew exact in the bend (binding groove). (Fig. 4) In meeting place of the rear parts of collar sew in a continuous manner, combining the two parts with binding. 11. At the other side of the collar end sewing with bartacking stitch and turn binding to the underside of the collar, to close it from the top. Sew by hand with almost invisible internal stitch which is often used to hem (when sew this way in the neck you will have a nicely finished hem with no visible seams), or fasten to the bottom and sew all once again on the machine, taking care that the seam did not go beyond the front lines of binding. Figure 4 12. Half-fold the free end of binding (which will be tying), folds inwards, and start sewing from the edge of the collar. Sew on the entire length, end of binding fold and roll inwards, then sew. Do the same with the other end. Do you have an idea for a workshops? apply your www.strim 13.
